Ive been playing electric casually at my church for a couple years or so. I recently bought a 20 dollar delay and overdrive and they don't sound too good . I'm wondering what cheap pedals you recommend that are necessary to electric players?
For overdrive I would say go with any type of Klon type pedal (like an EHX Soul Food), tube screamer type pedal (TS808 or TS-9) or blues breaker style pedal (JHS Morning Glory or Boss Blues Driver). I also really enjoy the Euphoria overdrive by Wampler.
For Delay, I have used my trusty Boss DD-20 for 6 years now, and it hasn’t failed me yet! It has 4 presets and numerous classic delay voicing such as digital, analog, tape, and my personal favorite... modulate. Other great options for delay are Boss DD-5, EHS Memory Man, and the TC Electronics Flashback or Flashback X4.

Joshua Philip No problem! I totally get it, there are a crap ton of different types of overdrives out there. I’ve gotten sucked into the nerdom of it all, and it’s quite fascinating! Here’s a video that will explain it a whole lot better than I ever could. ua-cam.com/video/sd4JgAJkaKo/v-deo.html
My opinion of these different pedal circuits is this:
I currently use a Klon type pedal (Pedal Project’s Klone) which I love. It has a slight mid hump that pushes you through the mix really well, and I love the flavor of overtones it creates as you turn up the gain. Most people use it as a clean boost.
Tube Screamers have a more squishy tone and higher gain. I find it works well by itself or as a pre-gain before other overdrives. Just set the gain on a low setting and you will have sustain for miles.
Blues drivers are just sweet. Think John Mayer Continuum tones. He used it as a boost before other pedals for tone shaping and to just sound.. bluesy!

I'll never understand why they burie the lead guitar in the mix. If you can hear it what's the point in putting it in there?

Seems like “the worst of my mistakes are miracles in the works” is saying it’s our mistakes are what God transforms. I don’t follow that at all, “from the heart of man comes evil thoughts, adultery, fornication, murders, thefts..” Mark 7:20-23. The mistakes aren’t transformed, it’s our heart and mind Romans 12 And many more verses speak on that. But all in all, that’s just one line in the song so it’s up to everyone to either take the song as one cohesive message, or to dice it up and like it for what it can be. Personally, in a corporate setting I don’t think this song fits. Many believers and non-believers learn scripture and about God from songs and this isn’t perfectly in line with it. IMO.
