- After warming up with some trees, me and Makoa hiked my favorite line on the sisters ridge. After a fairly easy mixed climbing route I had a sketchy moment at the peak, very dumb decision on my part. Snow was really nice in the chute. Mio, does not make for good Hawaiian shaved ice, maybe if diluted properly not so bad. We hiked the MT Ogden chute after that, the snow was not so good. The fingers on Allen peak, and more lines on the sisters ridge are on my radar next🤙
Nobody mention 5:11 ?😂 Holy shit
Was that sketchy or what?! Stupid mistake on my part
lol we stopped at that rock yesterday i knew we should have climbed it
Pretty easy climb, feels a little exposed 😂 probably more rock on it this year then snow so maybe not so bad
How’s the Avalanche mitigation over there? Wondering about doing this in a couple days…
@@N8SecondRide usually they do pretty good with avalanche mitigation on sisters ridge. I’m not sure if they’ve been on it this year, I actually haven’t hiked it this year yet. With the new snow we have I would be weary of heading out there in the next few days.
@ ok good to know thanks. Killer vid btw
@ You’re not risking your pass by going over there right…? Or is it a “don’t get caught” kinda situation….?
@@N8SecondRide thanks for the props. As long as you leave the resort through the open gate at the end of the cat track on the ridge it’s fair game. If the gates closed and you have to duck a rope then potentially your risking your pass and safety. If the gates open they have very likely done avalanche mitigation on the ridge and declared it safe to hike/ride.
Sweet vid, is the first climb/chute off Strawberry skiiers right ?
Thanks dude 🤙 that first chute is one of the lines on the sister ridge. As you go up strawberry gondola it’s the ridge on your far left. The cat track at the top of strawberry will take you to the beginning of that hike
That's what I thought, thx! How are the chutes prior to that one? I've done the first one...Worth the hike? That last part looks a bit difficult in ski boots...lol@@Joeydanger63
@@jasonverbarg9790 the chutes prior to this are definitely easier to get to, this one’s a little dicey, especially if the snowpacks not ideal. There’s a few options before this one, they are all about the same pitch. A few of the lines are the same width. A few of the lines might be a little harder then this one (with rocks forcing you to turn and the path not so wide)
@@jasonverbarg9790 idk that going so far out is worth it. Definitely added danger for not much reward. I can’t help to explore
Love your attitude! I'll have to hit you up later int he year once we get more snow. I moved here in 2008 and have yet to find a "high level" ski/snowboarder to show me the hidden gems at Basin...lol - Might go do some laps Friday if the snow has not melted...sad face.@@Joeydanger63
