That scene was so sad but beautiful. Margaret is facing her mortality while Elizabeth is still coming to terms with it. You can tell that they both loved each other, no matter what.
That last comment "make sure I am dead before closing the coffin" gave me a bit of a chuckle as it mirrored the conversation I had with my mom before she died. She also made me promise to make sure she was actually dead and even though I knew she was gone I had to keep my promise so before the funeral director closed the coffin I put my fingers against a bump on her wrist and gave it a good squeeze. That bump had been on her wrist since I was a boy, she said it had something to do with arthritis, anyhow, anytime me or one of my brothers would touch or hit that lump she would bug out because it sent a shot of pain through her wrist. Since she didn't sit bolt upright with that squeeze on her wrist I knew she was for sure, for sure gone. LOL

Princess Margaret was cremated to ensure that her remains could be accommodated in the small interment chamber of the King George VI Memorial Chapel. Because when the King George VI Memorial Chapel was built in the 1960s, there was only room for the coffins of George VI, the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip.

I know it's only fiction and it's a sad scene, but I wish I had people in my life with this kind of humour. I love it and it makes it easier to cope with the negative aspects of life. We lack this kind of humour in Germany, unfortunately.
We don't have a lot of it in the United States either, unfortunately. I gave my mom a good Celebration of Life sendoff. She wanted to talk about her funeral with me, but I was so uncomfortable, I quickly changed the subject. Of course, I wish I hadn't done that. This scene is beautifully played by both actresses.
Man, Imelda Staunton, she does amazing things with her eyes. Looking at her when Margaret says she's planning for her funeral, you can see Imelda's expression change in an instant from worried to surprised grief. So subtle, and so convincing.
That could have been part of it. Even if Elizabeth had withheld permission for Harry to marry Meaghan, Harry would most likely have married her anyway causing an even bigger scandal. The Queen would have known this. Margaret is actually an interesting precedent for Harry and Meghan because Margaret divided her time between Kensington Palace and her house in Mustique where she spent a lot of time, ie. effectively living between two countries and remaining a working Royal. If Harry and Meagan had been a bit cleverer and taken their time they could likely have ended up with a similar arrangement that Margaret had, dividing their time between California and London.
@@gilbydog7350 I didn't think Meghan, being an American celebrity used to freedom and social media could ever adapt to the strict rules of British Monarchy, I'm not surprised she broke, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon.
