- In this video tutorial, I will show you how to batch process images using GIMP 2.0.
If you want to resize multiple images, compress images or change image file formats, then using the BIMP plugin for GIMP can save you lots of time.
I often use the image batch processing plugin when I need to compress and resize lots of images.

Finally someone sharing this knowledge with us! Thanks
Thank you. This solution stills applies in 2024 with GIMP 2.10.38
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I was looking for. You have the rare skill of explaining things very clearly. Congrats. Very much appreciated. Kudos!
Many thanks 😊 have a super day
Excellent! I had to change a set of almost 300 pictures from a stupid compressed format from my phone called HEIC to normal JPG because I couldn't open them anywhere but GIMP. This saved a big batch in my library of family pictures. Thank you!!
Great thanks 👍
Thanks. This was helpful. Even though I'm not a pro, I'm always emailing photos to relatives and friends after gatherings.
Cool, have fun learning new skills 😎

Late to the party, but thank you for this video. I have been digitizing old family negatives with a scanner that converts to 3-4 megs. They are family snapshots, so I want really small files. I have about 3000 negatives left to digitize and scale and Until now, I've been scaling them individually.. This plugin will save me many hours (if not weeks and months) of work.

Exactly what I needed. I was messing around with batch processing in the console (Windows) with Script-Fu. No clue how to specify the color parameter (plug-in-colortoalpha) in the command call. Always got a type error. EDIT: Found out the format. It's a hex string: "#ffffff".

Hey there great video. Thanks. I have a hundred svg images that I would like to,save as jpeg is this possible with batch image manipulation
Honestly I am not sure, I will have to read the documentation
Is there a way to place the watermark on a layer below the original image? Useful for adding backgrounds to png files with alpha layers
I will have to research that and then Neill make a Tutorial if I find a solution 👍
Hmm. This did not work on my computer.. My version of gimp was not the newest so I upgraded from 2.10.36 to 2.10.38. I followed the instructions. And under File, there is "Batch Image Manipulation" after installing the plugin. Tried restarting gimp a handful of times. Tried seeing if it was in a different menu. No luck. This was also the case when I tried with 2.10.36
Great video! Question...Will this then also enable me to batch convert my RAW files to JPEG files in GIMP? I use GIMP for processing my photos and Shotcut for processing videos and Shotcut doesn't recognise RAW photos and I want to create a timelapse in Shotcut with my RAW photos.
Sorry I don't think it supports raw format :(

Batch image manipulation doesn't appear to be an option anymore. :(
You need to install BIMP plugin
hmmm i cant seem to apply certain effects, such as noise reduction, or colour temperature in the batch manipulation plug in :/
Plugin has limited features
Whenever I try to run the installer for BIMP, it tells me that it can't find the GIMP install folder. So I've tried directing it to the install (where the GIMP shortcut leads: AppData\Local\Programs\GIMP 2\bin) and then it tells me it "invalid GIMP plugins folder. So I tried directing it to AppData\Local\Programs\GIMP2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins and I still get the same error, even though that's what my preferences tell me is the plug-in folder. What am I doing wrong? I didn't see any install guide for BIMP. Using on a PC with GIMP 2.10.14 on Windows 7 64bit
Sorry not sure why it does not work for you... I will try to make another tutorial soon
@@dcpwebdesigners No problem, I found different program to batch convert well enough in the meantime. I'll try this again if I figure it out! Thanks
The BIMP Windows download page had a warning that seemed to indicate you couldn't use higher than v1.18 with versions of GIMP above v2.8. Though the warning sentence was obviously written by someone where English is not their first language I think I deduced correctly what they were trying to say.
So for my GIMP v2.10 I downloaded and installed BIMP v1.18. No problems.
I was hopping to use it to convert bunch of .png's to .heic or .webp, but the plugin doesn't support it as output by some reason.
Will do some research and find out if there is another way ...
Hello, is it possible to batch edit exposure of multiple images?
Not sure I have never tried
My Mac would not allow me to open the mac version of the software. So I am blocked from accessing this free and very useful software, which I really need.
Sorry not sure how to fix that
This may be a dumb question, but how do you see what you are doing to the photos while you are actually doing it? Do you just have to keep checking it as you do it after saving them? Because you can't see in real time what you are doing to the photos
Do a test before you run a batch
@@dcpwebdesigners Awesome! Thanks!

This was great right up til 2:27 I've got a folder of .webp images that I need to convert to jpgs as the site I want to post them to doesn't handle .webp files. Am I doing something wrong or does this plug-in not handle them either ? I can convert the individual images using gimp but I cant seem to tell this plugi-in to accept them
I use Photoshop or ua-cam.com/video/7COYQCOf3Mg/v-deo.html
@@dcpwebdesigners I can import .webp files into Gimp and then export them as jpgs but I need to do them 1 by 1 I was hoping to find a way to do them in batches.

Greetings. Have they removed this button or moved it. Can't seem to find it in the latest Windows version of GIMP - V 2.10.30. Thanks!
You need to install the plugin, check description and watch full video
@@dcpwebdesigners Ah ok, thanks. I assumed it had been removed in my current version and stopped watching.
Is there a Mac version of this? I don't have the same prompts at all and cannot access batch processing
Check for Mac github.com/alessandrofrancesconi/gimp-plugin-bimp
what if we have gimp 2.10.18? your link says Bimp doesnt work anymore with GIMP
You probably need to upgrade Gimp first
Can you still export as .raw files, I can't find any settings to do that?
I don't this so
@@dcpwebdesigners Thanks for the reply anyway, I don't think Gimp is capable of exporting .raw at all. I'm more on the game development side of things than the Photography/Artistry side. Thanks again.
hi. does this also apply to linux?
I don't think so
Im using GIMP 2.10 and for some reason the Batch Image manipulation option isn't appearing, you got any idea why it could be?
Did you install plugin?
@@dcpwebdesigners oh no 😂 I feel stupid now. I was in a rush and missed that step, my bad

cheers! I had some problems with BIMP, something do with 32/64 bit problems on windows. Found a forum, gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4230&start=20, with a zip containing bimp.exe libpcre-1.dll intl.dll, that fixed the issue. Thought I'd link this in case others had an issue.

Bimp can't seem to find GIMP, and when I find GIMP for BIMP it doesn't do anything. D:
I will try to make a new tutorial soon and retest BIMP
@@dcpwebdesigners I would definitely appreciate it! I's painful to go through each file one by one!
this for older gimp2?
BIMP codebase has been updated to be natively compatible with GIMP 2.10, while it does not work anymore with GIMP

Install new Gimp ua-cam.com/video/JO4o6AYl9bA/v-deo.html
what if I'm using a Mac?
Not sure if that plugin works for Mac as well, did you check on the plugin website?
I have a mac also. Did you find a way around this?
Damn, the one thing I needed it for, converting RAW images, isn't supported...
:(
They must have done away with that because there is no batch image manipulation option in my "file" drop down.
I will have to retest, did you install the plugin?
@@dcpwebdesigners Now I did. The problem is when people google "how to batch process images" it brings up your video but it is queued up halfway through, way past the part where you mention the plugin.
