- Welcome!
Today's video is a first time reaction to Eskimo Callboy's new song 'We Got the Moves'. This was a strangely wonderful song with variety in the vocal choices and a rather interesting music video aesthetic. Join me in breaking down some of what happens.
If you enjoyed this video please like, sub and hit the bell (if you want to).

Serious kudos to the writing and delivery of this banger of a tune from Eskimo Callboy. Perfect blend of influences, different vocal techniques that is still super fun!
P.s I see you all asking for a Hypa Hypa react and I'm definitely down to explore more of their music. So many questions from We Got The Moves... so much potential future fun to be had.
Hypa Hypa was their big "reaction scene" blowup. They liked it enough that they collaborated with other German artists and bands from totally different genres to do an album worth of covers. Strangely fresh every new version you hear, despite essentially being the same song Lol.
The big songs to check out from them would be Hypa Hypa as others have noted (there are also a lot of additional covers from other artists on that one, with WBTBWB being a notable one), MC Thunder, MC Thunder II. They've got a knack for very fun, very catchy songs, easily one of my favorite bands these days.
I'd highly recommend We Butter The Bread With Butter's version of Hypa Hypa if ya wanna diversify some. Fantastic take on the track of last year!
Hey Julia, to answer some of your questions, they released "making of we got the moves" video and it's brilliant and a lot of fun :D
The thing you need to be aware of is that if you go down the Hypa Hypa rabiit hole, you will come out with about 8 reactiobs, because you will certainly want to find out in just how many styles that song sounds great.
"Eskimo Callboy - Hypa Hypa" is a must! :D
Wait, she didnt do that one yet?
Oh boy i cant wait for that one haha
It's gotta be the one with We butter the bread with butter tho
@@briankamp1584 first original, then WBTBWB cover
She will find the ending vocals interesting for sure too.
Definitely need to... That amd the MC thunder tracks.
“If you came to me for answers, I’m sorry, all I have are questions” - the single greatest reaction to this video I’ve ever heard. 😂
These guys are masters of satire while being skilled musicians. They're making fun of genres while being masters of those genres. It's amazing.

Steel Panther is exactly like that for classic 80s rock/metal, love them both!
Summed it up
@@FlourEater Steel Panther aren't taking the piss out of themselves like EC are tho
You have to see them live
I absolutely knew you would love this, and I seriously can't wait for you to do more stuff from them. I'd give you my personal favorite recommendations, but it already seems like you're getting slammed so I'll spare you. 😂
Also, totally unnecessary, but much love for the shoutout!
Thanks for suggesting this one Tank! Absolute banger.
Nice tip you gave tank, it was time for her 😂
Yeah, thanks tank, we need to spread the good word of eskimo callboy.
Tank ❤ the best man
Ehre Alla
@@jvoxfox Thank you for shoutout Tank. Great educative reaction. Stay safe. ❤️
Blows my mind that Hypa Hypa slipped under your radar. Definitely needs to be your next reaction.
a lot of people want to see that one apparently. I'll put it on the list :D
@@jvoxfox Don't do it. You will die of laughter.
And after the original Hypa Hypa, please a reaction to the Cover from "we butter the bread with butter" (yes that is the name of the band), i think this will be more confusing to Julia :D
@@karuemel3555 I just checked this we butter the bread with butter. Nice. very nice.
@@karuemel3555 ALL THE COVERS! :-D
I like that if someone says how weird they are you can just say "They're German," and everybody understands.
They could be Dutch too, though 🤣
@@LETMino85 Pump It would fit more Dutch because of New Kids
0:45 - 1:10 The evolution of your facial expression is basically everybodys reaction to Eskimo Callboy 😂
• What is this?!
• Why is my head moving?!

"He just looks so... happy... behind the tree" he's patting bush to rhythm, of course he's happy. Wait until he's lickin'bush.
Well if your going to listen to Hypa Hypa.... there are:
1. the original from Eskimo Callboy
2. Folk/medival metal with bagpipes etc. from Saltatio Mortis
3. a Pop version from Sasha
4. a German Rap version from 257ers
5. a METAL Version :) from WBTBWB (We Butter the Bread with Butter)
6. a version from Axel One I don't even know what genre it is :D
7. a country version from The Bosshoss
8. a REMIX from Gestört aber Geil
Those are the official cover versions of Hypa Hypa and all performed from German bands or musicians.
And all are worth a watch in my eye
Waaaaaait a second. SaMo made a version of f*ing Hypa Hypa? You've got to be kidding me, how could I miss that??
Saltatio Mortis version is brilliant!
Ehre Abfahrt
its should a DEATHCORE version from wbtbwb cos the original one is already metalcore version lol
@@pumbaarviu9434 There's even an official live performance video on SaMo's channel.
Someone once said Germans weren't funny, lol. It's a pure summer party anthem. It manages to get deathcore into a pop-friendly idea that is otherwise quite reliable and time-honored. They just do it really well with their own unique sense of humor, which what is really new. I think the hair is symbolic of the groove - the whole band is locked in to start and everyone else joins.
We germans do have some exceptions :D
Its not funny.
@@bomeesc7480 Yes. Yes it is.
It almost makes you think that stereotypes are not always true
its not deathcore by a mile
At the end the guy shouts: „What the f**k is going on??? P**s off, you rags“.
Rags can be translated to loser in German.
What a great reaction, thank you, Julia
Greetings from Germany 🤘🏻
My German-speakers coming in clutch with the translation. Thank you!
best translation ^^ besser geht es nicht :D
Your translation of the dude in the end nailed it pretty much.
And i bet, that if you message them directly they would most likely answer, as they seem to be pretty chilled guys, very much in touch with their fans and even reacting to reactors reactions of their videos.
And of course, "Hypa Hypa" is a must (the original one, and then all the remixes)
Yeah. It's like 'we heard you like reactions, so we react to people react to us ':D
Yeah they said themselves that it's basically "who are you get the fuck off my lawn" which is great.
Yeah they already did a reaction to the reactions video but they love the interaction.
He said “What’s going on here? Get the fuck out!”
@@DeadWirePromotions I heard "was ist hier los, verpisst euch ihr nach bahn", is it correct? I'm not a native german speaker.
This is typical German humor. It doesn't have to make sense as long as it makes u laugh😂 These guys are genius and I'm almost ashamed I didn't notice them even though they come from my area lol
The whole "I...can't...even..." reaction you had was absolutely perfect for this.
The thing is, a perfectly suitable answer to most of your questions could be "...It's a German thing..."
Well Eskimo Callboy is just a group that really is just having fun all around since they also do the music videos on their own. They grew in status and as a group as much until the point they are now. EC basically can play or produce what f ever they want without the risk of shocking or upsetting their fans cause they "left" their style.
This is just wonderful. 😂 I wanna see Julia with a Bowl-cut!
Super catchy, fun, heavy yet poppy.
They're literally the full package.
Not sure how long they can maintain though before it becomes predictable, but for now it's a joy ride.
There's a making of video that they've put up as well as a video reacting to reactions which helps answer some of your questions. But what it really comes down to is they just like fun gags in their videos
ua-cam.com/video/I0cxPKRdF8Y/v-deo.html
Definitely one my favorite recent metal groups😄 Great melodies, great musicality all around, and they don’t take themselves seriously at all, it’s almost adorable😂😍
I`m in love... always make happy lives and dont be a attdrama
I love watching First Time reactions to Eskimo Callboy. Its always WTF? then WTF with head bobs, then full on Head Banging and more Head Bobs
Julia your reactions to each switch in genre were awesome.
To say I am here for this is an understatement, these guys are hilarious and make some real catchy music! I must recommend Hypa Hypa by them!
Another band, not quite the same but they rule is Spiritbox! Their new album rips! I’m still waiting on their reaction from ya 🥴
Please for the love of God do a eternal blue or whatever, any song off the album
😮it's like you took a peek at my editing list!
@@jvoxfox I'll rate it if you email it to me 😅 she's killer man, make sure to add in one of their live studio sessions, Courtney's a beast
@@jvoxfox I’d say great minds think alike! I’m just out here trying to teach the people the greatness of metal music! If you’re looking for some more great vocals, gotta give Dance Gavin Dance - Inspire the Liars a listen! Talk about some nice high vocals and some nice screams as well
In the sense of Hypa Hypa... the Hypa Hypa series. Wouod be amazing to see.
The new Devo for this generation (with broader range of genres). They instantly popped into mind with the video style, matching looks for everyone, and an electronica based central theme that’s just tons of fun! I’m glad to have discovered them with you, and thank you as well for your very informative commentary and the honest reaction!
Yep, i got the Devo vibe too. Although its just in this video, it have been a nod to them or at least their style
Eskimo Callboy is a German metalcore / post-hardcore / trancecore band from Castrop-Rauxel, founded in 2010. With their often comedic songs, music videos and live shows, they are now among the most successful bands of their genre worldwide.
Every new song i hear by Eskimo i jst instantly thing "ok lets se what the drummer does THIS time on the breakdown" 😂😂😂 we need to protect him at all costs
I'm so glad they're getting the recognition. These guys are really amazing
I agree with you when you were talking about how the music might get general listeners to listen to harsher vocals/genres that they might not normally like. It was the opposite for me. I'm a huge deathcore, metal, screamo fan and i got into electronic music way more after listening to them. It definitely works both ways.
Eskimo Callboy, cheering up the planet one song at a time. I can't recommend enough a song that came out just over a week ago by some fellow Aussies. The band is 'Twelve Foot Ninja' and the song is called 'Over And Out'. It also features Tatiana from Jinjer. Great vocals and the video is epic. G'Day from England !
Why does everyone call them "Eskimo Callboy"????? Their band is called "Electric Callboy".
@@broziusEskimo Callboy was the original name. They have since changed it to Electric Callboy.
@@mandomovies7205 Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks!
i think you are totaly right about that people can jam to that music who never have been into harsh vocals, cause i am one of em. Hypa Hypa was the song what brought me into metal core and since i am hooked.
thx for the video it was so much fun :)
Yes, he is literally saying "piss off my lawn u rags". They are partying in HIS garden basically.
Thank you for a really fun reaction (as usual!) that still manages to sneak in a good dose of analysis.
The pony with the bowl cut kills me. This band is awesome.
I’ve heard them described as “dancecore” which I think is accurate. The main body of their sound is metalcore, but they incorporate a lot of aspects of edm to make it sound different
Not really that much different. Their first album is almost 1:1 copy of Blood Stain Child's εpsilon.
They're weird in a fun, joyful way. I only recently found them, and I'm hooked. You can't continue having a bad day when you hear their music, it's impossible.
I absolutely love how this band makes people smile, and its metalcore... some how.. craziness
I love your genuine happy expression throughout the video, that's so awesome and I think exactly what they are going for in this kind of music. Just happy hardcore metal fun :D
Thx Tank for throwing this song to Julia.
I love your reactions and how you enjoy doing this.
Your reaction is amazing and spot on!!! These guys are great.
I love when you enjoy, laugh and react to videos hehehehe. This is pure gold. Thanks for existing Julia.
Your reaction is sooooooo good. Love that you can hear music and just know that they are having a blast. Props to Tank for the suggestion.
9:07 he's basically saying piss of you "weaklings/idiots". (Not to sure how you'd translate the word in englisch. The literal translation would be "piss of, you lobes/rags". :D
I love the vibe. Did anyone else get a new wave/metal "Devo" feel ie gotta whip it whip it good. Can't not help but like these guys. Brilliant.
Another band I would not have found if not for you Julia and thanks to Tank the tech.
Thank you so much for doing this, you pointed out stuff i didn't even notice but know i do and it makes it more fun to listen to.
Exactly how you reacted was the goal of this song. I loved every part of this video, your reactions and breakdown of the song is gold.
And yes they would respond to your direct message.
TanktheTech gets it! LoL so good!
You should do Hypa Hypa soon 🔥
Döp Döp Döp
@@TankTheTech Dödöp Döp Döp!
EC is such a fun group that I discovered due to tank doing a reaction to hypa hypa. And I have been dying for them to put out more music and this was so perfect. And happy that more people are reacting to them still
I only found this song yesterday but I’ve watched a lot of reaction videos to it and this one is hands down the best one. You just earned yourself another subscriber, very excited to see more!!
Awesome reaction, i love how you feeling the sounds, is one of my favourit band. BTW looks very cute, when you explain the vocals. Greetings from Germany :)
I enjoy your reaction cause it’s different from “most” reactors. For the most part reactors don’t actually break down influences, layers, etc. Its completely different and refreshing content I can’t get from other reactors.
I would strongly recommend the band Spiritbox. Courtney LePlante has an insane vocal range and will surprise you. They have a live/one take version of the song “Rule Of Nines” which would be great to review first.
God I love her live version of it. I can’t listen to the original. Gotta go listen to it now actually
“I did it”
I have watched a lot of reaction videos to this song. This is the most informative and most close to a reaction I had! Love it!
If you react to their Hypa Hypa song. During their breakdown, you gotta pay attention to the drummer 🤣🤣
Eskimo Callboy is great. Love how they mix metal and electronic. They're like a metalcore mindless self indulgence
Def check out more from EC, namely Hypa Hypa and MC Thunder Parts 1 and 2 (I'd put closed captions on for part 1) - and if you want another good recommendation, I'd go with 20km/h by We Butter the Bread with Butter.
And for something more serious, do Spiritbox, basically any song by them. Rule of Nines, Holy Roller and/or Constance would by my picks (in order of personal preference) - but you really can't go wrong with any of their tracks. They've put out banger after banger ever since they got together.
Also for a bit more serious songs by EC, Crystals (with their old singer) and Hate/Love (with their new singer) would probably be a good choice ;)
I have never heard of this band before now, and suddenly I love them. I could not stop doing the chicken head thing once they started rocking!
This is the first full video I’ve seen of yours and I love how you just enjoy the music and don’t pause it every 10 seconds like some other channels. Keep up the great work 🔥
These guys are freaking gold. Everything is awesome. Their older stuff is good too.
You absolutely have to do Hypa Hypa by them. It's going to make you laugh just as much and it's a good song.
Which one though?
@@StergiosMekras There's more than one?!
@@jvoxfox i think escimo callboy cooperated with 7 german bands and made 7 cover versions of hypa hypa in 7 diffrent genres, saltatio mortis was medival mettal (my favoritte :) we butter the bread with butter, unspeakable deathcore awesomenes, the bosshoss country music, with sasha they made a pop version etc.
all songs with amazing music videos, watching all of em is defnitly no waste of time :)
@@jvoxfox as @Samael78 said, only an album's worth of covers...
@@jvoxfox Start with the original, then go through all the covers :) Then do MC Thunder 1 & 2. It's a lot but so entertaining.
i love that you made comments about the bowl cut and kept a snapshot of the mini-horse with a bowl cut for the outro. fantastic.
This is just too much fun!! With some luck someone will translate the ending for us! Thx for sharing with us Ms.!!
The ending pretty much means what Julia expected it to mean.
Your 'Metal Face' is awesome! I'm fairly sure their vocals are by two guys, a screamer\growler and a clean vocals guy. These guys make great music and don't take it too seriously, a great combo that makes for some hilarious videos! As mentioned by countless others, if you haven't seen Hypa Hypa yet, check it out.
You aren't wrong about the layering but also the guitars add extra tone to the growls and also Eskimo Callboy are absolutely killing the game. Amazing band for sure!
Just discovered your Channel and watched some of your reactions today. I Love the way you’re trying to explain how they sing and build up songs. It kind of shows me why some of the uses of voices work to me as they do.
I really would love to see you reacting to the japanese Band Dir En Grey. Some Songs I would recommend are Ranunculus or Vinushka
Yeah, these guys bring the fun! 😂 I hope I get to see them live some day! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Many of their songs are super catchy, someone mentioned Hypa Hypa, that song is a must.
On a side note, VoicePlay released a cover of Hoist the Colors which is absolutely amazing and Geoff released a cover of House of the Rising Sun, also amazing. Highly recommend you check out those two. 🤙🏻
Now you cant go around hypa hypa, MC thunder part1 &2 😂
I recently got into these guys and I get the appeal.
It’s fun and I feel they don’t completely take themselves so serious.
It’s a damned good band.
This is awesome, definitely all smiles here!
It was so cute that you got speechless for a bit. Your reaction was perfect. I've become a fan of Eskimo Callboy and I'm not into dance music. I love the mixture of the dance and the rock and they're a fun band. This is why I love rock music because it can add almost any other genre and work. Also, you ask great questions! :)
A lot of people would say listen to Hypa Hypa next, and that's a good song but I would suggest MC Thunder II (Dancing like a Ninja) because I love that video! Hypa Hypa is a funny video too, but MC Thunder II Is my favorite!
Oh also there is another band called "We Butter Our Bread With Butter" who is like Eskimo Callboy but they don't sing in English, but their videos are just as funny!
Such a fun song to put a smile on the face at the start of the day. Love your reactions! would love for you to check out the amazing cover by ghost: "if you have ghosts"
gotta check out 'Hypa Hypa' by them
You are easily my favorite reactor. Even if it was a shit day, I can pop on one of your reactions and my mood changes 🤘Also no one can ever hear they are gorgeous too often…. So stay gorgeous! ☮️ and ❤️
I was truly impressed by this. Great sense of style. Thx, Julia!
I'll add a request for you to analyze another Angelina Jordan performance. For insight into her method/technique, I'd recommend her studio rehearsal of I'm A Fool To Want You. It's just Angelina in the booth with a mic and a barely audible instrumental track. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/79tM-Spcr1Q/v-deo.html
This band is incredible! You gotta check out some of their older stuff with Sushi.
In their most recent Phase Eskimo Callboy managed to blend several Styles togheter that usually would not fit in a more "serious" tone. Pump it does it even better. This style is just amazing and i hope they refine it even more. YOu can play Hyper hyper, We got the Moves or Pump it in almost any club and no one would complain.
Pump It is an absolute banger.
Its super fun to see the emotional rollercoaster in your face XD i guess that expresses perfectly what everyone thinks and feels while hearing this
This was a very funny reaction to watch, i enjoyed it very much 😀 greetings from germany!
They look like they had soooooooo much fun in this video dude.
I think an important aspect of this band you missed, I think becuase you’re covering just the vocal tonality of things, is this is a German band singing in English. It was jarring watching an interview and it was in German and they sing their songs in English. Then all of the discotheque beats made sense.
After looking some other reactions to this song, i think this is best reaction :) well done
Keeping in mind that I have no formal music training whatsoever... I just really love how she is able to dissect a song that truly is "genius" but also just something fun to listen to. This being the only video I have ever seen from her channel really is able to get across her wide range of knowledge in the music industry. 👍 Good job hitting the nail on the head as well as being able to bring in your own intuition of song progression.
Nico does the clean vocals, he does an amazing job on Hypa Hypa featuring Sasha
At some point you should give Sleep Token some attention.
Me encantó tu reacción y tus anotaciones. Acabo de descubrir tu canal, buen contenido y muy carismática sigue así. Saludos desde México.
Pd: me encanta la oportunidad que Eskismo y otros grupos están logrando al integrar otros géneros musicales al género metalcore.
Your smile is just.... 🥰🥰🥰. I just found out about this group today. I have loved everything I heard so far.
Slightly upset this is coming before Hypa Hypa but enjoyed it nonetheless
This was awesome!!! Definitely check out We Butter The Bread With Butter, ideally 20kmph…it’s amazing!!!
Hahahaha i love how you start nodding your head a little right in the beginning🤣☺✌
"suspicious looking drinking device" . . . The word cocktail was right there for the ultimate pun
If you want some really unique sound "screams" and guttural kinda singing, I would suggest listening to the live version of Gateways by Dimmu Borgir
They're really good about answering people, if you message them there's a good chance they'll reply
It blew my mind when I saw this on my UA-cam front page lmao I love this band for some years now and have seen them live multiple times (also met them, really nice guys) but my favorite album by them will always be “Crystals” maybe you can react to it in the future :)
FUN FACT: the garden you see over the white wall is all CGI, at the rave everyone has bowl cuts lol see them live when they are in OZ they are phenomenal
They are a German band. That explains a lot!!! Just kidding! Thank you Julia for reacting to this song. I dare you to react to Eskimo Callboy's song Hypa Hypa!!!!!
Eskimo Callboy are brilliant. You need to see their others as well. :)
Fun fact: in Germany, the bowl cut on display here is known as a "pony". So that's a pony on pony!😂
The first Video from you I watched and your reaction were gorgeous😋 and I think I'm in love with your laugh, don't know why but it looks beautiful and heartly 😂😄
Wait… you haven’t done Hypa Hypa yet?! Oooohhhh… honey… treat yourself. Summer song of 2020
You so need to Check Out hypa hypa by These Guys. 😄
EC recently released a making of to this. they had a blast filming this :)
great reaction/ analysis btw :)
So, this is the first video I watched on this channel, and I loved it. On the one hand she's just so confused, on the other hand she understands so much more about this music than me, talking about "layers", "pitches" etc that I got no clue about.
Very interesting video, will start browsing this channel now.
