(and yes, they did move to china whem he was 12, he talked about that in the behind the scenes of interviewing david beckham on jolly)

LOL technically it only called you dumb in 3 languages -- French, Korean and Mandarin. If that makes you feel any better. And those are like one of the hardest to learn if you've never been exposed to anything outside of English. I've only been bilingual most of my life and was trying to learn a third but even then it's difficult. You really need commitment and perseverance to really push yourself to go out of your comfort zone and learn another language.

this is the fun thing about europeans, we usually study at least two languages at school (your native language and english), and in most countries you need to choose one more (french, german, spanish etc), and then you get influenced from all the other languages aswell... so i speak english and swedish fluently, studied german for 5 years so far, have a basic knowledge of both french, russian and spanish, aND i’m studying korean and japanese right now, so i mix up the languages a loooooot lol! when trying to find the right work in my korean class the other day all i could remember was german vocabulary... so i really get josh’s problem here lol

In fench you don't say "la pâte" for pasta, you say "Les pâtes", it's a plurial word so when you ask someone if they like pasta you say "Aimes-tu Les pâtes ?". I told you this because I'm French and I understand English and a little bit of Korea. 어릴때 자연스럽게 접하게 해주는게 좋은것 같아요. 일단 저는 부모님께서 책을 선물로 자주 해주시고 독서를 하셔서 그런지 어릴때부터 독서를 엄청 좋아했었고 자연스레 언어에 대해 관심이 많아지고 불어는 제가 어릴때 어머니께서 샹송 좋아하셔서 많이 듣다보니 불어 인사말이나 자기소개 간단한 대답들 아직도 기억이 나고 애니덕에 일어 읽고듣고쓰는거 조금돼고 영어도 어릴때 윤선생 + 커서 미드많이 본것땜에 어느정도 말하기 듣기 되고 중국어도 한자학원을 오래 다녀서 그런지.. 어렵지 않게 배워지더라구요. 전부 엄청 깊게 알지 못하는게 함정이지만 다른 언어에 대한 접근성이랄까. 그런거에 거부감이 없는것 같아요. 외국인 만나거나 도움이 필요한 외국인 보면 어느나라 사람이건 말해보려고 노력하거든요. 글구 외국영화 볼때도 말하는거 자세히 듣고 무슨뜻인지 알아가는 희열이랄까.. 그런것도 생기고 확실히 어릴때 영향이 큰 듯. 그래서 전 자식 낳으면 외국나가서 살 형편은 못돼도, 독서&외국어는 자연스럽게 최대한 접하게 해주려구요.

Gabie! I’m baffled! You’re French is so good!!! Especially for an non-French speaker who left France 5 years ago! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Speaking of Belgium, where I was born and raised, not the whole country speaks French tho.. 😅 We’re devided in 2 parts! The upper part speaks mainly Dutch because it lies next to the Netherlands and the lower part speaks mainly French since it’s closest to France. If you try to speak French in the upper part they will ofcourse understand you (because we were teached in school) but we don’t practice speaking it enough in reality to be able to speak it well. So you’ll be better off speaking English in the upper part! A universal language we all speak and understand! 👌🏻

It's funny to see Josh struggle with French, when I personally consider it so much easier than any of the other languages he speaks- but I guess I'm biased since I learned the basics when I was still young. Trying to learn new languages as an adult has been much harder.
I have a B2 in French which is basically conversational level for daily situations and understanding of easy literature, I think if I had to rate her level I'd say she has a B2.
Ivy Winter as a French person myself, I can say she has a very good level, her pronunciation and fluency are really good, the structure of her sentences are perfect, so I’d consider her more as a C1 than a B2

That actually happened to me when I went to France. I speak three languages, but very little French, and for some reason, I kept responding to the locals with a mix of all three plus broken French 😂😅

When I can't think of the word for something my brain goes, "AnYtHiNg BuT eNgLiSh" and I end up speaking Spanish or throwing in a random word or two from the other.

In fench you don't say "la pâte" for pasta, you say "Les pâtes", it's a plurial word so when you ask someone if they like pasta you say "Aimes-tu Les pâtes ?". I told you this because I'm French and I understand English and a little bit of Korea. Gabie speak in a amazing french but you just made that fault in the whole video so I was impressed because I didn't knew you were speaking French. So, BRAVO !!!!

I don't know the extent of Josh's Chinese, how much he still remembers. I've only heard snippets e.g. in the video with HaHa where he spoke to Chinese students. So it would be interesting to hear him speak chinese in a more lengthy amount.

일단 저는 부모님께서 책을 선물로 자주 해주시고 독서를 하셔서 그런지 어릴때부터 독서를 엄청 좋아했었고 자연스레 언어에 대해 관심이 많아지고
불어는 제가 어릴때 어머니께서 샹송 좋아하셔서 많이 듣다보니 불어 인사말이나 자기소개 간단한 대답들 아직도 기억이 나고 애니덕에 일어 읽고듣고쓰는거 조금돼고 영어도 어릴때 윤선생 + 커서 미드많이 본것땜에 어느정도 말하기 듣기 되고 중국어도 한자학원을 오래 다녀서 그런지.. 어렵지 않게 배워지더라구요. 전부 엄청 깊게 알지 못하는게 함정이지만 다른 언어에 대한 접근성이랄까. 그런거에 거부감이 없는것 같아요. 외국인 만나거나 도움이 필요한 외국인 보면 어느나라 사람이건 말해보려고 노력하거든요.
글구 외국영화 볼때도 말하는거 자세히 듣고 무슨뜻인지 알아가는 희열이랄까.. 그런것도 생기고
확실히 어릴때 영향이 큰 듯. 그래서 전 자식 낳으면 외국나가서 살 형편은 못돼도, 독서&외국어는 자연스럽게 최대한 접하게 해주려구요.

Speaking of Belgium, where I was born and raised, not the whole country speaks French tho.. 😅 We’re devided in 2 parts! The upper part speaks mainly Dutch because it lies next to the Netherlands and the lower part speaks mainly French since it’s closest to France.
If you try to speak French in the upper part they will ofcourse understand you (because we were teached in school) but we don’t practice speaking it enough in reality to be able to speak it well. So you’ll be better off speaking English in the upper part! A universal language we all speak and understand! 👌🏻

It's funny to see Josh struggle with French, when I personally consider it so much easier than any of the other languages he speaks- but I guess I'm biased since I learned the basics when I was still young. Trying to learn new languages as an adult has been much harder.

I have a B2 in French which is basically conversational level for daily situations and understanding of easy literature, I think if I had to rate her level I'd say she has a B2.

Ivy Winter as a French person myself, I can say she has a very good level, her pronunciation and fluency are really good, the structure of her sentences are perfect, so I’d consider her more as a C1 than a B2

That actually happened to me when I went to France. I speak three languages, but very little French, and for some reason, I kept responding to the locals with a mix of all three plus broken French 😂😅
@@AnjyumeAi I think it's because you're trying so hard not to speak your first language. I speak Spanish but English is my first language. Now I'm learning Korean and French. When I can't think of the word for something my brain goes, "AnYtHiNg BuT eNgLiSh" and I end up speaking Spanish or throwing in a random word or two from the other.
