@@elianazuniga6541 Actually the top comment should read both physical AND verbal abuse should not be tolerated at all. I mention both sexes because a lot of men (especially young ones) are embarrassed to speak up or leave a toxic relationship because they think it makes them look weak. It’s obviously a huge sign of strength to get out of a bad situation. I find domestic violence extremely disgusting and cowardly and therefore all the comments here obvious. However perhaps some might need some reinforcement knowing it’s ok to be a man and seek help and that it’s not a sign of weakness. In fact for anyone leaving a toxic relationship they should be praised and admired for their strength. What’s obvious to you might not be obvious to another person. Obviously.

Thank you so much for being so empathetic to Maddie. The only safe way to leave someone who has put their hands on you is either with no warning or in a group setting. Narcissism may be running amok, but there are always fools that will bend over for them & create offspring with them who will more than likely become narcissists or suffer from other psych issues.
The cycle never stops and that's because many adults rather become victims or play the victim than do the work to become a healthy adult and choose better partners & father's/mothers for their innocent kids.

From personal experience with a sociopathic malignant narcissist (formally diagnosed in 2005), she did NOT willingly "tell" him that she was in another relationship. I guarantee you that he got in her face and FORCED it out of her ... then became full of rage and planned her elimination. I experienced this myself, and it was only AFTER hours of demanding interrogation that I told him (now ex) I wanted out permanently. We have 4 children together ... and he still threatens to kill me to this day (10+ years after our separation). @@maryrankin9869 I’m not sure honestly, but if a had to guess I would say for some abusers it’s because they don’t see the other person as an actual person in the same sense a normal person would recognize another person. They tend to see people they’re in relationships with as possessions and of course your possession is yours to control. Imagine if your TV just decided one day to have a mind of its own and started playing whatever it felt like and turning itself on and off or the volume up and down as it pleased, regardless of you purchasing it and therefore feeling a type of way because it’s now malfunctioning and not even the remote control is making it act right. Abusers don’t see you as a whole person but more like a possession a tool of sorts something that can be made to bend to their will for their own use. I’m sure there’s a lot of “reasons why” besides this one possibility, but in a nutshell it all comes down to wanting to control and dominate the person. They are attempting to get that person to “act right/stop malfunctioning” in a sense. That’s truly what I believe based on my own experiences and observations although I’m not by any means a professional or expert like our good Doctor here. I would also love to hear what his professional opinion is on the subject.

Doc, thank you for another fascinating video! As one of your #1 fans for years; I have a request. I sometimes think about the short you made with your wife where you wished her a happy birthday and wedding anniversary and said, "long term relationships may be a lot of work, but they pay high dividends". If at all possible, could you please, Pleeaasse make a video speculating, of course, 😊what makes a long-term relationship successful? Is it similar interests and personalities? Can two people really just naturally be a great fit for one another? What is the key to a successful relationship/marriage? I know so many people who are divorced, unhappy with their partners, and have often been told, nothing lasts. I would love to know your thoughts on this topic. Thank you doctor Grande and congratulations on all your success !❤❤❤
