  • This is one of those upgrades we have put off for way too long. I this video, my son and I spend an afternoon installing some new rock sliders on our 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ from Goliath Off-Road. This is a straight forward install that will add some much needed protection to our recent paint and body work.

    The two of you are fortunate! I hated having to do anything with my ol man! We were both Marines, but he had a nasty temper and was an alky! When things didn't go as planned, he'd go off and literally throw tools at you or backhand you when he got near! You never knew what was going to happen next! We never worked on one single project together like the two of you are! It was pure terror at our house!

    I'd like to recommend a product called slick stik. It's like wax cutting substance for your drill bits. Works amazing and get some HSS bits for jobs like these. I really like the family dynamics here. Well done!

    • @flynbenny
      @flynbenny 5 років тому

      I favor a cutting fluid like Anchorlube G-771, non toxic and not oily. The weight of the fluid (more of a paste) definitely keeps the drill cuttings from flying everwhere.
      I highly recommend using some kind or any kind of lubricant when drilling metal. It will extend tool life, and make a cleaner cut.

    Did you believe that a 2001 xj cost a 13000$ in its standard shape in my country.. Its 4 inch lift kit costs about 6000$.a set of 35 weels and tires cost 4000$..a front and rear accels with rear lockers cost 7000$... Front and rear bumbers with a winch cost 4300$..not to mention led lights and bars with roof rack and some others accesories.. A total build is around 41000$.. Its such a blessing for an offroader to Live in america.
    Wish you all the best moment in life and off road.

    Thank you for these videos. It has been my inspiration in building my own 99 Cherokee XJ. I do have a question though, other than the lift kit and bumper installs, I haven't done a lot of stuff to the engine. With the front and rear smittybilt bumpers with tire carriers, hi lift jack and 30" tires, I have noticed that my gas mileage has dramatically decreased. Have you guys done anything to the engine or driveline that actually made a little bit of improvement? Any advice would be more than helpful and appreciated as I am also planning on putting up a rooftop tent so I could start my overlanding adventure a little more pleasant. Again, thank you and good luck.
