I live in Florida I got a seedling and it has been a very fast grower. It lives outside but given your climate and conditions your plant has done very well. I am always in awe at watching people who do not live in a tropical climate grow these plants. I would love to know of anyone who can trick a peony to grow in my tropical climate❤
I got an unrooted cutting as well and water propagations worked nicely without any problems for me. It's now growing its first leaf, super excited for it 🥰
I found the Jose Buono to be the easiest rare plant I've probably ever had. It really doesn't need anything specific. Just a basic mix. The only problem I've had with it in the past few years is sunburn from being up against a West facing window (Northern hemisphere).
Hey Memo, great videos as always. This plant is definitely getting really available, I see it from time to time in my local specialty shops, but the level of variegation really vary. Keep up the rambling, I think they are always interesting and really shows your passion for plants!
This could not have come out at a better time for me! Just got myself a Jose Buono, and your experience is helpful in shaping how I approach mine. Thank you and more power to the channel!
I'm sure in your next updated review of jose buono, you'll be scoring it much much much much higher 😉😉😉 Wait till you get more sectoral variegation on your plant 😁 Such a stunner and such a chilled plant! Love ❤️
Sue, I love your optimism! 😄 I'm definitely hoping for a higher score next time around. Can't wait to see more of that stunning variegation. Thanks for the love and support! ❤️🌿
I recently purchased this gorgeous plant. It is a top cutting that the grower had rooted before selling it to me. I am looking forward to watching it grow. Mine is not variegated but I love the green leaves. 🌿 The grower has 2 big beautiful plants that I hope to achieve. ❤
Thank you. This vid is much appreciated. I am just getting back into houseplants and have been considering the Jose Buono. You have given me some food for thought. Love your channel and feel I am learning so much from you and some of the other tubers
Michelle, welcome back to the world of houseplants! I'm glad you're finding my videos helpful. The Jose Buono is certainly a unique plant. I hope whatever you decide, it brings you joy! 🌿💕
Love my Jose Buono. Grows fast and is very easy. That said it went through a rough patch this winter, totally my fault. I had it in a room where I didn’t check it often. Moved it to my bathroom where I could see it everyday and it started coming back immediately. Think I underwatered it. There is also a Texas Jose Buono with yellow variegation instead of white. From what I understand it was bred about 20 minutes from me in a nursery in Seguin, Texas. More expensive so I don’t have that one, YET, lol.
Hey Vicky, glad to hear your Jose Buono bounced back! It's amazing how much difference the right location can make. A Texas Jose Buono with yellow variegation sounds stunning! Maybe one day you'll add that one to your collection too. 😄🌿🤞
You’re the best! I live in Canada we have garden centres and nurseries and big box stores. The problem becomes finding slightly more rare plants depending on your location.
Thanks for making the time to make the video 👍 really informative. Have been wondering whether to add one of those to my wish list...may hang fire for now😆
I'm pretty sure you would find a benefit to a moss pole. I have mine on a moss pole, it's about 8 months old and a good bit larger than the one you have on the video. On the downside it's last two leaves are green with no variegation. thanks for your hard work, best plant videos on you tube
Hey Laura! That's an interesting insight about propagating them in water. It's always great to hear about others' experiences, I don't know why mine didn't like it 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. Thanks for sharing! 💦🌱
My Josebuono grows like a weed its massive I grow it in a north facing window in the north west uk before a leaf has opened another one is coming there is no stopping it
I live in Costa Rica and in my climate is easy and grows pretty fast, 1 leaf every 3 weeks. I keep it outside in my yard and it receives all the rain and full sun for 3 hours per day. Mine has a sectoral variegated leaf just like yours, half normal and half white and tiny.
Hola apuy Gustavo! Your Jose Buono must love the Costa Rican climate. Full sun and rain sounds like a tropical plant's dream! Glad to hear it's doing so well. 🌞🌧️🌱
I love the Jose!! For me grows so fast almost to fast. Lol Love the color of the leaves an the growth pattern an easy to propagate. I propped it in water an worked for me but I let the stem dry out a couple of hours.💚 I’m shocked you wouldn’t buy it again. Sorry you haven’t had a good start with it. 💚🫶🏼 Your Anthurium Esmeraldence is looking beautiful behind you 😍
Sherry, my dear plant friend, I'm glad your Jose Buono is thriving! They do have a beautiful growth pattern, don't they? Yeah I think it was just because of the rough start, at the moment it is growing very happily and as I expected, I am the odd one out with mine and it seems to be a great plant for everyone 😊💚🌿 And thanks for the compliment on the Anthurium Esmeraldense! It's really come into its own recently. 😊💚
Love this plant. I’ve been wanting one for awhile but cannot justify it because it’s just too similar to my variegated burle Marx and that one grows like a Pothos.
Miss Perry, I totally get that. It can be hard to justify a new plant that's similar to one you already have, having the Burle Marx Variegated, I know exactly what you mean. But who knows, maybe one day you'll find the perfect spot for a Jose Buono. 🤔🌱
I got this plant and thought it was just Meh. It had a long leafless stem. I cut the whole base off and put the top in pon to propagate. It took a while to root but once it did, I’ve gotten nonstop growth and it is now one of my favorites.
We definitely have garden centers and nurseries here in Canada. I got my JB from a local plant shop and it just grew like crazy one leaf would barely harden off before the next one started.... but sadly the varigation on mine is kinda sad. 😕 still a beautiful plant.
I already got both!!! I just got my JB from a friend older than me known for collecting many plants a variety of plants for several decades just last Saturday 😍 I really love the shape of it leaves and the variegation on each leaf🌿 I got my PV last 2022 our first PV and it's fine!!! But, I eventually realize that between the two philodendrons, it's JB definitely is the one that really stands out!!! The Variegation of JB and it's leaf growth and patterns is way more satisfying 😍🤗😘 I was ecstatic actually to finally have a cutting of it with three nodes just for free 👍👋😘 The Variegation of JB is something that every plant collector would want to have for any of their variegated plants!!! I divided it to three and hopefully share it to two of my aunts who doesn't have it yet! Well, it's a pricey plant though the plant prices have come down recently!!! I can't wait to repot it as soon as it starts climbing 🤗
Mine is in pon and no drainage and it grows sooo fast 👌 I just took it out of my tent and repotted it and it just gave me a new leaf with some nice variegation 🥹

LOL Yes we have garden centres AND plant nurseries in Canada! 🤣🤣 I just bought this plant from a plant nursery and it should be arriving very soon.

I had one for a bit! I found they rooted easily in water. Was pretty easy to care for imo!
Hey Laura! That's an interesting insight about propagating them in water. It's always great to hear about others' experiences, I don't know why mine didn't like it 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. Thanks for sharing! 💦🌱

Wow, Sam! Your Jose Buono seems unstoppable! A north-facing window in the UK seems to be a sweet spot for it. Keep the updates coming! 🌱👍

My JB love Pon. Leaves are huge and highly variegated.
That's great to hear, Foster! Pon certainly does wonders for some plants. The variegation on your Jose Buono must be a sight to behold! 😍

I live in NW Georgia (USA) and I’m purchasing a 2 leaf cutting with the leaves being 16-18” long for $65. I hope I can care for it properly
Have you done a Paraiso Verde? I just got one, never done a Jose buono

First comment, yeay 😀 Hello 🙂
P.S. Really cool T-shirt
Yayyyyyyyyyyy first!!!! and thank you 💚💚💚💚
I bought mine in August 2022 for $120. They are still around that here. I’ve had no pests at all with it.
Vicky, sounds like you got a good deal on your Jose Buono! It's always a relief when a plant stays pest-free🌱👍
I propped with lecca pebbles in semi hydro and it took me all summer to get 1 leaf -___-

so much yapping 🤦♀️ even at 2x speed
Mine is in pon and no drainage and it grows sooo fast 👌 I just took it out of my tent and repotted it and it just gave me a new leaf with some nice variegation 🥹
When I first bought mine, it didn’t root in water either. I had to root it in perlite 😂
