@@nxcplantsfully fully agree, and if I do I mix them into the substrate until I pay one of my kids $5 to pick thru it for an hour to get them out bc I’m a great parent apparently I’m realizing as I type this out.
I remember reading that thread like 🧍🏻♀️😂 I feel like people make every anthurium seem like it’s some demon plant that needs absolute perfection or it dies. I’ve noticed they don’t tend to like drying out as much as other aroids can, but the ones I have at least aren’t crazy in my ambient humidity. Varies from high 30s-low 60s depending on the time of year. My most exotic plant is crystal/mag x Zara so I don’t have anything crazy though.
I upsize all my Anthuriums except for seedlings. I heard Alice say that once when I was just starting out how it will help the plant to push bigger leaves. I have not had any regrets except for the roots that aren’t full and lush I wouldn’t do it with because they don’t soak up the water around it and have higher potential for rot.
Plant and garden lover for the past 50 years, started when I was 10 or so. Let them be, my plants are decades old now. Never had insect problems. Do not take my plants out side, not even my geraniums, or open the windows, Good ventilation in the house. Use my own mix, fertilizer sticks and water them with spring water. Mist them. I buy a plant because I like it, not to chop and sell. And I never buy over my budget, which is limited. Big box unwrapings of free plants full of insects makes me laugh. They complain, but hey they were free and it is indirect advertising for the grower. I wash my new plants ourdide before I take them in .
I guess I got my answer why my seedlings take so long to grow because I do not have a grow tent or cabinet. They all grow in ambient and they’re beautiful, but I would like the little guys to grow faster. Now, after about 10 months of owning Anthuriums I now understand them and their growing habits. What they enjoy is moisture around their stems and less light than Alocasia. So far I haven’t had any outbreaks just gnats, but very little. 🙏 I really enjoyed this video thanks!
Don't mind me. Just casually consuming anthurium care intel after barely saving my clarinervium from spider mites. It grew a new leaf, so it's worth trying to rejuvenate.
I've been slowly switching a lot of my anthurium to self-watering in a mix similar to your tree-fern mix. Do you think I'd have any trouble switching some of my more established plants in an aroid mix with soil/peat moss straight into the self-watering mix? Since the roots would be going from occasional dry periods to a constantly moist state. I plan on trying to wash the roots well to get any peat moss/soil off. Thanks!
It's interesting that anthuriums are easier for you to take care of than philodendrons and pothos. For me, it's the opposite because I find that anthuriums are a lot more sensitive to humidity and moisture levels and need more nutrients added to my fertilizer solution. But I guess it is different for everyone, since I find pink and white princesses are really easy to take of (along with my monstera albo). But I have heard others complain how finicky they can be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hi Nick, thanks for another awesome video. What I think makes a good grower is willingness to learn and change over time. I definitely have learned and changed a lot in my many years of growing. What are your thoughts on the rugulosum? It has been my most challenging anthurium. Have a great day and thanks again.
dumb question, why do no drainage on a plant like that KOS? You can easily put 2 holes in the side of the pot for a reservoir which keeps the plant moist but would allow you to flush it as well.
I have leca at the bottom of all of my pots no matter what the plant is. I will not change that
I do it in everything except for the seedling pots bc I’m too lazy to pick the balls out when I reuse the substrate 😂
Sameee my orchids and Hoyas also

I don’t have any experience doing that. Might be worth testing with something hardy

Do you have GOOD advice for not having an anthurium crash after flowering?

Thank you, well said. I enjoy the rugulosum and have been searching for the right pure specimen.

I did it out of convenience. I plan to move it to a wick based pot very soon.
Very informative as usual, thank you 🤙
You're welcome! 😄
You speak the truth!! 😂
