In retrospect, I was suicidal since high school.
Struggling with undiagnosed depression and a dissociative disorder, I never really had the chance to enjoy my childhood as well as I wish I could have.
If "To The Dreams That I've Killed" was a message to the future that never was, this is my retribution to a past never fulfilled.
Despite everything, I'm glad I didn't go down the route of self-destruction. It's been hard dealing, but I'm trying to convince myself that things can only go up from here. New year, new me, right?

Wow I really like this song. Usually I dont listen to stuff that has a heavy rap influence but I really liked this. And the bass was awesome too. And while I think some things could have been changed about the art in the video (mostly the backgrounds), considering you did this all by yourself, it's all really really good. It's more than I could ever do. I'm glad you didnt choose that path because then you wouldn't have been able to explore this talent you have. 😊

The only thing I can say about the art right away is maybe instead of doing just a solid, highly saturated background of one color, maybe tone down the saturation a bit and add a gradient just so your characters dont seem like their floating in space. And you could always just experiment with simple backgrounds if you want to make it seem like your characters are occupying space in a certain setting. But that's only if you want them to be in a specific type of location. Other than that, nothing is really sticking out to me. I really like the art style over all, especially with the moon graphic you used in the thumbnail

Okay, but for real, aside from my thoughts on the video (which you already know), I will add that while you can speculate at what could have been, you should never lose sight of what you have--which goes both ways. People can get lost in self-loathing because they feel they lost out on something or because they're guilt-tripping themselves over how they're acting within the life they have; the route they've chosen, if you will.
Don't do that.
Through the good, the bad, and the ugly, what you have is what you have and there's no use wasting time on what you don't have. You'd yell at me over the same damn thing and we both know it. Even if it feels fragile to you, the present you have, and whatever happiness you have--there's just as much a chance of you keeping it as there is you losing it. So don't get paranoid about the latter. Focus on reaching the future where you get to keep it. You're far from where your past self stood (literally and figuratively) and you never have to go back to where you used to be again if you don't want to. A lot of people want to see you reach your happy ending.
So don't get lost in what could be or could have been along the way.

Saw the warning in the beginning and thought I was in for another garbage-tier "edgy" oliver song.
I think the oliver part was completely unnecessary -- swap it out for a real singer, he sounds dead.
Luckily, that wasn't the main body of the song. The rest of the song seems pretty thoughtful and works pretty well. So, a damn cut above the rest of the "dark, edgy oliver songs."

elvensith001 i would get a real singer if I knew anyone who could sing in the style I needed, but unfortunately I haven’t been lucky enough to meet someone like that yet.
About the oliver part, I was honestly going to cut it at first, but the chorus drop was a bit too repetitive on its own - hence I needed a singing bit
Also I forgot to mention but thanks for the honest opinion!! I definitely appreciate people telling me what they think upfront.
@@ShiusOld Can I ask for some examples of what you're looking for in a singer (for this song, specifically)? I'm listening to it again now and thinking like, Paul McCoy (the dude who does the rap parts in Bring Me To Life), although I realize now that that's just kind of a classic rock scratchy voice, belting to hit the top parts of his natural voice...
But am I on the right track?
