- I run through all the parameters of two new fuzz boxes- The Angry Hornet by Alameda Guitars and The Surfy Fuzz by Surfy Industries. This is not a shoot out or A/B test as both are excellent devices and very different in their approaches and tones. www.alamedaguitars.com www.surfyindustries.com
Great video! If I may be a bit pedantic, the high gain Angry Hornet is the Extremely Angry Hornet. It's a mix of two circuits, a Vox Treble Booster and a Maestro FZ-1b (4 transistor version). The tone switches are one per circuit - the Treble Booster tone on the left, the Fuzz tone on the right. The pedal is 100% fuzz when fully clockwise, and 100% treble booster fully counter-clockwise. So the treble booster tone does nothing when at 100% fuzz, and vice versa. That being said, I think I need a SurfyFuzz too!
Thanks for the clarifications, Mel! There is so much to explore in your pedal.
Great video and yes just one more!
Thanks for a great video!!
I was lucky to receive an early version of the Angry Hornet last year. It was a great inspiration for the development of the SurfyFuzz, even though the SurfyFuzz is a very different creature :)
Thanks for your response, Bjorn! The SurfyFuzz is terrific.
- this is helpful. I've been considering both. I think I probably will just buy both.
One cannot have to many Fuzz pedals.👍
I’ve got a bit of a GAS problem when it comes to certain pedals.
Fuzz pedals are a real problem because so many do exactly the same thing from £15 to £350 and more and I have to try anything new.👍🍺
What I really don’t like about the Surfy Fuzz foot switch is it’s size. It’s a smaller diameter than any of my other pedals cheap or expensive. It won’t take a pedal topper.😡
