- McFarlane Toys Booth Walkthrough with Todd McFarlane at Toy Fair 2023
Pixel Dan speaks with Todd McFarlane of McFarlane toys about the upcoming toy lines including the Batman:The Animated series action figures that will include a build-a-figure
Always love how excited Todd gets about the various toys his company produces. Just great to see.
I just wish the toys were something to actually get excited about 😢
I admire Todd's passion for action figures.
I wish that passion translated into quality toys
Todd seems very accessible. Like he'd be willing to go on basically anyone's podcast, even if they're small timers
Who would you like McFarlane to meet and talk with or have an interview with online or in person? I'd like Displaying Model Behaviour to get a chance to talk to him maybe.
Its really nice to not suffer fake enthusiasm and get a guy who is selling the product, sure, but is actually super excited about what he gets to do and what he gets to bring people. Uncle Todd is the best.
It's really cool that Todd did the walk through himself. The man could sit at home and let someone else do it. But he is doing it himself.
It is really crazy how Batman & Robin of all movies can translate so well into action figures, but i guess i makes sense since that was the original intention all along.
Hopefully they make a Bane figure to round up the main cast. Pair all of that with the Alfred figure Mattel did a few years ago and it makes for a really nice display.
My guess is they will do a 2 pack of Bane with a different outfit for Ivy
@@Jag2045: I guess they could have fedoras and cloth trenchcoats accessories to mimic their "civilian disguises" in the beggining or maybe normal Bane with the red outfit Ivy wears when she fights Batgirl.
How about Muscular Bane and Pre-Venom Bane? I think that would be pretty cool.
I would've loved that he had done a five figure wave instead, with Mr. Freeze as the fifth, and the BAF had been Bane. If people buy this wave, they would've bought a separate Freeze figure rather easily.
I often wonder about the decisions he makes when it comes to DC product.
@@CoolCATs2814: I absolutely agree. As soon as this wave was rumored, i was as the expectation of a Bane figure since not even the original toyline figure adapted his movie outfit. Hopefully, he gets announced later on.
Let's not forget some decisions are outside of Todd's control like gun accesories, certain people's facial likeness, and such. It is not like McFarlane has full creative freedom. There are a few guidelines he has to follow.
Hoping they do Batman Forever. Jim Carrey Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face, etc.
This aged like fine wine
I feel bad for Dan having to keep positive during that NFT spiel. Lol.
@@TheNichq well Todd has a point. If things go the way I expect in November, a certain someone wants to get rid of taxes and replace them with tariffs. And if that happens we will be the ones paying $140 for a $20 toy.
I love how Todd was really excited about the bendy wire in those Dune figures as if it was some kind of brand new innovation 😆
Yeah that was quite hilarious
He’s excited about cardboard scene backing that companies have been doing for years too. Don’t forget the cardboard excitement. Lol
Kind of is for that price range now days
It's almost as innovative as NFTs. 😆
Just as excited as the marvel team for "pinless joints" and "articulated toes"😏
Thanks for the coverage Pixel Dan! Todd McFarlane has been hit and miss with his latest releases, but I do appreciate his passion for comics and toys.
I agree. A lot of his stuff I just was never impressed with. It seemed so one dimensional in their use of plastic types and textures and paint. Since the beginning it just wasn’t that great IMO. It always seemed sloppy to me.
So cool !
Too bad they still not have a DC Multiverse Batman V Superman (2016) line ! We are so many to want a Batman regular suit, Knightmare, and armored from this movie…
Hope we get a Keaton and Kilmer wave set down the line. The Batman returns suit needs a figure from this great stuff also Kilmers first suit and Chris O’Donnell’s first suit
Thanks Dan and Todd for the walkthrough, so many licenses, so much insane effort.
If the Warner Bros vault was wide open for Mcfarlane , I would hope for a Lethal Weapon, Riggs and Murtaugh duo pack.
I'd pay WELL for those. Hell give me the whole Murtaugh family and Riggs with 10 heads depicting all over the top faces in the, "put it in your mouth" gun scene lol
A personal walk through with the man himself- pretty awesome
The Todd-Father is killing it! I just love that he puts so much love and detail/sculpt/paint into his figures and the price point is still within reason in contrast to ML/Hasbro who just keeps rehashing sculpts and raising prices.
DC always has been and always will be superior to Marvel in every way
McFarlane now has Pacific Rim! Dang, would have like to see more of that, but great coverage overall ^^
I almost will listen to Toddy talk about anything. Vut especially like seeing the job McFartlane did on batman ❤❤❤❤
So excited for whatever the Pacific Rim figures are going to be.
Todd, the absolute legend who always delivers the goods. I really do like those Mirrorverse figures. I hope that line continues. The Mirrorverse game is filled with so amazing designs there could be years of awesome figures. My top picks for future releases are Judy Hopps in her spacesuit, Woody as a real human cowboy and Kermit the Frog as a bard. Yes those are all real and from the game!
Amazing interview! Thanks for that, Dan! I loved how McFarlane knows the product line, showing he’s not just putting his name there, while he’s actually involved in the business process. Top content and for sure I’ll buy something there!
Looking at that Freeze 🥶 I’m afraid that my condition have left me cold with the plead of fan service. In this universe there’s only one absolute, everything Freezes!
McFarlane puts out sooo much stuff it's incredible. Not only figures but his comics too!
Between NECA and a resurgent McFarlane it's like a golden age for movie and pop culture figures all in about the same 7in scale.
Todd is a genius, he knows the mind of the collector
I love it when they interview Todd Mcfarlane he always give us sooo much information on all his products with great quality details 👏👏👏👏
Absolutely buying the Batman & Robin movie figures. Gotta get that Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy.
This is the best video out of the Toy Fair 2023 series. Todd really likes toys. I like his insider explanation. Even though I don't like that he doesn't make more female figures for the DC Multiverse line. He's still the best when it comes to price and scale options. Keep up the good fight, sir! I will continue to support your work!
What a nice guy Todd is!!!
Dan was so star struck lol 😊. I can't judge though... I'd be exactly the same way and wouldn't be able to pull away from chatting with him even more about comics. Great walk through and thanks for the video 😎👍
33:15, The first time we got ROBIN in his NIGHTWING suit in live-action!
Love hearing him talk about "scale" in terms of pricing. I never really looked twice into their toys cus i always figured theyr'e super pricey since the quality is obviously there.
Definitely gonna have to go support thier smaller figures since they're looking out for us poorly peasant folk lol
Todd ever the excited kid. Mcfarlane's output is continually killing and getting better.
Hes smart about different scale options, price points, styles, and properties. Any figure could be someone's first and a gate way. They like Disney, and only have $10-15, well now they're suddenly a collector of that scale and want to have all their characters relative to each other. Or they just want every iteration of a single character of all the different sizes and styles.
Thanks Dan and Todd, great interview! I’m looking forward to seeing/hearing more about the Pacific Rim line that was skipped.
The sport ones are awesome with how they made everything but the plastic it came in useful. Hope that becomes a trend with everything. Oh nice!! The Titans at the end with the Beast Boy build a figure. So cool.
Todd is the best. Fantastic artist and single-handedly changed the toy opening it to adult collectors.
I really see his heart in this not just business alone. He did that with image comics too and pre date. And how he thinks of others over seas. Dude does not get enough credit it feels like.
We need a Batman Forever wave with the Batmobile. Please Todd
I admire Todd, his setting up own comic company, own toylines .I know he has his quirks that are a bit weird sometimes. But man this guy is an absolute inspiration for me as a creative person. Massive respect for him.
Surprised to see the dune figures as the previous ones sat on shelves forever, I almost bought them all to build the dave bautista baf but one was missing. Honestly happy I didn't waste money even on clearance back then just to have a bautista lol I think it was before any draxx figs came out so I really wanted a bautista lol!
I'm digging the football figures and they remind me of the starting line up figures I used to have.
I like how his figures are so detail and easy to paint and remove parts. Also good for swapping. Glad Mcfarlane is back in toyline especially affordable 20 bucks is a win for me. Wish he did nintendo because nintendo overprice I been wanting a link and samus spawn hight without paying 80-100 for a Good Smile variant. Just imagine Mcfarlane making metroid figures he did amazing on Doom.
Great coverage Dan!
Appreciate getting insight into Todd's approach about everything he's offering.
Todd McFarlane seems like a great guy. This was great to watch. Thanks Todd and Dan.
The problem with the Page Punchers is that a set of four figures should have a four part story in the comics rather than getting the same comic book four times.
MOTU Origins had the same problem.
@@Rocket1377 That's too bad.
Sure it would have been more expensive, but it would have been a lot more fun for the customers.
Alfred comes in with his Sassy Head-Todd is hilarious!!!
this is just amazing to watch ..... really todd make a smile on our face with his awesome collection....
Excellent walkthrough! McFarlane has done some amazing figures. I miss the days when they held the Halo license!
That said, Jazwares is doing amazing things with Halo these days! If you have the chance, I’d love it if you could swing through their booth and check out the new reveals! If you can, chat with Jesse :)
I met Todd around 92 and have been a fan of his since the 80's. Love this guy!!
Todd was on his game. Very engaging and some really cool product.
I am soooo excited for those Batman & Robin figures.
I LOVE THE TODDFATHER, BIg fan of his work, comics and figures can't wait for his Spawn movie to drop. PIXEL Dan great video bro
By every minute I watch you video my wallet it’s starting to fells lighter 😅.
Men, I love your interview with the great Tod McFarlane. 🎉🎉🎉
Would love to have the green hornet and Kato with the black beauty..which was also in the batman 66 comics.
Es tierno ver cómo tratan en 2023 hacer que los NFT funcionen.
This is why I love Todd and keep supporting him he really does think about the consumer and not everyone hates nfts I love all collecting and there’s value in every spectrum of collecting! He really thinks about the consumer 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I was surprised to see more Mirrorverse figures. I don't remember when the last line came out. Gamestop had some but they just seemed to sit there forever before going on clearance.
Love listening to Todd, great figures and statues lineup and I'm 100 % with him about Ovechkin breaking the record.... LOL
Pictures in our phones are souvenirs, things we want to keep and remember when we look at them, digital contents are not.
They’re just virtual properties we can’t interact with.
35:34 I would have loved a closer look at Injustice 2 Superman. From this angle and distance though, he looks quite cool. Brainiac looks freaking amazing.
I love Todd, it's super cool guy and his brand great as well! Congrats Dan, super cool video, big hug from Spain!
really wish you had showed more of the Movie Maniacs line shelves...and thankful for what you do sir...
back in the 90's and early 2000's McFarlane Toys Movie Maniacs line and the Music various Figures were produced much better and detailed much nicer for collectors...my family and "normal" people think of this collecting things as something strange...if I had a collection of animal heads on the wall or porcelain plates in a cabinet, I'd probably fit right in...but to each their own...
the Ramones said it best...I don't wanna be buried in a Pet Semetary...I don't wanna live my life again...lol...
and everything is digital now...no more physical...nothing for cash or digital money...Movie's, Music, Toy's...
An animated Alfred single!!!! Yes!!! I missed that when stupid Amazon messed up my international shipping with the batcave last time
I really have enjoyed all his action figures and collectibles this last year or so. I really love his thinking and how interested he seems in everything. The was a great watch as well. Dan always does a great job.
You know, Todd’s bringing a perspective on NFT’s I hadn’t considered. They’re still not for me. But he presents the best argument I’ve heard so far. Great product walkthrough Dan & Stina!
His argument is "pay me money so I can give you nothing". I guess you get a digital image on your phone. I have images on my phone already... For free.
@@SonicDeeHedgehog I understood that you get to go into some digital museum where all this stuff is. Kinda like in a video game. If you ever played Skyrim or the latest Fallout, you can collect stuff in the game and decorate your apartments with trinkets and stuff. So these digital toys are the same. And there are games and game apps where you can buy different skins for your character and guns and stuff. Gamers do spend money on these digital things and spend a lot of time in those virtual realities. These digital toys are aimed at them.
The majority of gamers are wise enough to not waste their money on that nonsense. NFTs are aimed at gullible fools.
@@Rocket1377 Perhaps. It is sad to think that someone living in a small apartment box in japan is going to buy this stuff and wander around in that digital museum just lookin at this stuff. But maybe there are some who will. But yeah, why buy a digital Batmobile when you can actually play as Batman and drive the batmobile in those Batman Arkham games, or get some mod for GTA.
Wish I could get that mcdavid!! Only see the blue and white jerseys for pre-order. Todd's jersey is my all-time favorite!! Loved the Tommy Salo he released in it
Awesome can't wait for this hit the stores!!! I'm a huge fan of Tod and his work!!!!!
Who is forcing Todd McFarlane to get involved with NFTs?
I'm absolutely SHOCKED that Hasbro didn't try to do that first.
Something weird is going on.
And he’s setting off red flags with over promoting everything. Who are you trying to convince… you… or you? Lol
Hasbro DID try it first with Megazord they released over a year ago. People who preordered got an NFT of it. Same thing with the Starting Lineup figures they released. They found out it flopped and moved on.
@@JayL8899 oh.
It's a little weird that Hasbro would move on from NFTs so quickly, but try to double down on WINDOWLESS boxes.
@@tidalboxer Yes, over promoting the NFTs is setting off serious red flags.
I have zero problems with different scales at different price points.
It seems a little weird to focus so much on the figures' likeness to the actors. Maybe that is extremely important to some people. People should get what they want for the money the spend.
The World of Warcraft figures not being action figures with good articulation is disappointing, but Todd McFarlane said they couldn't get a license for actual action figures.
The NFT thing is the most worrisome.
@@hammertronactionfigures2426 yeah. If yuh want an NFT that’s great, but I honestly don’t see the market this at all. No one wants to pay for a picture when you can get it gif free off the net.
I love listening to Todd talk.
That's all I'm gonna say. LOL
Love that this is Todd’s second Chris Walken figure, he did the headless horseman
Great job Pixel Dan and Todd thank you for the awesome toys…now please get the fans more 89 Batmobiles! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I like how he actully presented it but I wish there was more flash stuff
If they have Christopher Walkens likeness how about a Max Shreck figure from Batman Returns ? 🤞🏻
god damnt it the warcraft line is a customizer dream with all those accessories !
Does Todd McFarlane know he's The Todd Freakin' McFarlane?! He's an absolute joy to listen to.
What a legend. How cool is he for spending the time. Stand up guy! 👍 I love how interested and passionate he sounds.
Todd is so real, man.
The toys are back loved every moment of the toy fair
This man Todd trying to say “I’m not trash, you just gotta find the right light” 😂😂😂
Haha yeah but the lighting really did make a difference.
Its really crazy how Todd is able to pump out so much stuff super fast. He really knows the toy industry. I would love to sit down and pick his brain. Most CEO wouldn't even bother and just have some hired hand be their. Todd is a beast.
I think those likenesses are pretty good, actually 🤔 the Dune line having wired soft goods is a big advancement for domestic line.
Good stuff comming here. The Animated series is clearly the same DC Direct molds just with new paint which, for me, is unfortunate as I already collected this line years ago. I'm glad others who may have missed out will have a renewed opportunity to get them though.
Todd McFarlane reminds me of James Halliday from Ready Player One. I love it!
Nicely done. Todd is a class act.
Todd needs to do Spiderman and all his rogue gallery, Deadpool the x-force,and hulk with crazy articulations and awesome details.
Todd suffering from some of that "Convention Heat Exhaustion" that is so common among the executive class 🍹
Absolute pickups: DUNE and BATMAN & ROBIN sets!
Love the "Todd Talk" at the end of the video.
I greatly appreciate the time that both you and Todd Farlane took to do this video. I also love how Todd explained the price points and why he's doing digital. The DC Universe Batman and Robin figures look awesome!
Todd definitely went beyond than just action figures in fulfilling many collectors' wishes, he gave us those playsets like the Batcave and Wayne Manor library, the avatar jungle and coral reef sets and 66 bat vehicles, toys I never thought id see in my lifetime..
he's finally doing the bare minimum.
I’ve been Shopping with McFarlane Toys since the Company Started, in 1994! Now it’s almost 2024, this is Amazing when l really think about all the Years I’ve been Collecting McFarlane Toys, When I found out They went in to Partnership with DC to Produce the Multiverse Line I got so Excited, As a Collector you want to See your Favorite Hero/Villain Made by your Favorite Toy Co. The Batman/McFarlane, Stories &Action Figures from all over the DARK KNIGHT’S Legendary Career!!! I Read a lot of Complaints about there being to many Batman figures, I think if you like/love it Buy it!!! IF NOT DON’T. This Video is Great, Mr.McFarlane there Showing, Talking, Enjoying His Toy-Brand, & what it’s done For Him & for US. Looking Forward to all of the New Stuff that was Shown, Especially the SUPER POWERS & Vehicles! That Built a - MR. Freeze is Really Cool from “Batman Forever”& the Action Comics#1 Superman(the whole thing) Presented Wonderfully!!! This Superman Statue has it all!!! Thank you so MUCH FOR Sharing. & Thanks McFarlane Toys for all these Years of FUN!!! ✌️🦇🦇🦇🦇
When I saw the thumbnail of the Batman & Robin toys 1997 for this video, I was like wtf 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Todd has probably done more than anyone to push the quality of toys to the next level over the past 30 years. What a BEAST!
The digital option happens when you can no longer afford the yearly carbon credits for the physical plastic. (you will own nothing and be happy)
my wish list, (probably alone on this), but would really love to see the new52 justice league lineup from McFarlane someday
Great job hanging with Todd, there i no interview with him ,lol. Congrats great video
He had me until he mentioned Japan, I've seen those videos the stores in Tokyo are drowning in McFarlane figures they aren't hard to come by.
BUMMER that the Blizzard figures are statues; but very cool they have interchangeable accessories.
It’s always good to see The Toddfather
I'm a Great fan of Todd McFarlane and his working Masterpieces. I been a fan since (1996) I believe. His Craftsmanship for Sculpting and Comic Book art are Phenomenal. Who doesn't love McFarlane Toys and Comic art? I do a lot! 😎😎🫡👍👍
Love the Super Powers figures! What's going on with their availability though? I can't find some of the newer waves but there are plenty of Green Lanterns and Wonder Womans. Detective Batman and the current Robin are hard to find. I was lucky to get Aquaman. I need that Justice Lords Superman...hope it comes single carded at some point. Thanks, Dan!
