@@CircmcisionIsChi1dAbus3I thought this way until I got a chance to spar with a Kali instructor. I was a blue belt in bjj and a year into Muay Thai at the time. I don’t have much faith in traditional martial arts as they’re not based on combatives. My only directive was to leave a chalk print on the guys shirt from the chalk I put on the “blade” of a training knife. I lost that knife every damn time. I did manage to chalk his arm on two occasions, but it was on the top of his. Even then he almost immediately disarmed me and then hip tossed me or some variant of a body throw.
I’m nobody to classify anything as real or bullshido, but given the fact that I had substantial reach on him, and got more aggressive each time I lost, I think it’s safe to say that dude definitely was extremely well trained in his craft. People like him are why I carry concealed.
@@shawnm2113The only question I'd ask is how you tried to attack him with the knife? They are doing Eskrima also known as Kali and Arnis which is the Filipino martial art. So the video should clarify that.
When did they go to the Philippines, before or after the Tong Dynasty
Correct.. if you've practiced eskrima, Kali or Arnis you know .. nothing looks like FMA but FMA.... The blade system they are using is 100% Filipino.
@@adrianthorne1615lol moron.. you're thinking tang dynasty... Which is Chinese... Not Korean.. also there are tongs.. but they're Chinese Mafia... You are really really really really stupid .
@@adrianthorne1615 Eskrima/Kali/Amis is also taught outside of the Philippines by masters that travel the world.
Also, The US, The Philippines, and South Korea have been close to each other since WW2 and the Korean War respectively.
Edit: In case people are not aware. The US military brings in soldiers (regular and elites) to the Philippines to train under Filipino soldiers in jungle and knife warfare, survival tactics and such. They've been doing this for decades. South Korea in turn train with US soldiers and elites, and Filipino-style knife-fighting could have also been transferred over by this relationship. But, overall, there are a plenty of foreigner-grandmasters in and out of the military that teaches this style.
Edit 2: There's even a video of an American teaching Pekit-Tirsia Kali to both the Philippines Marines and US Army Special Forces ODA
Title: "Pekiti-Tirsia Kali - Military CQC Course - Patikul, Sulu, Jolo"
It's come from PKT or tersia kali..from Philippines 🇵🇭 they are even slower than the original movement
This is the most metal gear CQC thing I’ve seen. This is awesome.
These are South Korea Navy Seals, they were trained by US Navy Seals. And yes, they are officially called (in English) the South Korean Navy Seals ROK UDT/SEAL. The US Navy Seals (and other Special Forces) uses this style of knife-fighting (Eskrima/Kali/Arnis) they learned from the Philippines where US soldiers and elites train with the Philippine Marines and Special Forces (US and Philippines have been training each other for decades).
A lot of comments saying this choreography is a joke, and yes, y'all are correct. The US Special Forces don't mind joking around, especially during training.
Edit: I just learned about MUSAT, Multi UDT/SEAL Assaulting Tactics (MUSAT) training. The program takes what is effective and abandons what is not effective, just like most special forces. Kali, for the moment is part of the MUSAT, but MUSAT itself is mostly confidential, so it's definitely safe to say that ROKSEAL started with Kali many years ago, but have long since changed what is "Kali" to fit the ROKSEAL fighting style.
MUSAT includes primary and secondary weapons training, as well as hand to hand combat styles.
full of shit 😂 No one learns anything from the Philippines… You on crack??
@user-jc8ez9iw2j Oh, Idk. I was being sarcastic when I said it was a joke. US Special Forces don't joke around when doing training. (Or maybe they do?)
It's not like this shit is fake either (the knife-training part). The US special forces does learn knife-skills from allies and teaches it to other allies. It's just pointless, in my opinion, for couch-sitting warriors like us to talk shit about a training method special forces use. Like, who the hell should I believe is right, the internet guy or the guy in the special forces that was trained in knife-fighting?
For all we know the whole purpose of the knife-training is increasing reflexes and not the actual stabbing technique.
Well... umm.. actually, that is called "MUSAT"😅 ROKSEAL own martial art
@@이강서-x1g Multi UDT/SEAL Assaulting Tactics (MUSAT) training. This MUSAT? I mean, that doesn't really say "martial art". It sounds like a blanket term for their close quarters training.
I'm gonna need like a source of Korean knife-style martial arts, because the knife-fighting in the video looks very much like Kali. It's also a known fact that US military learns Kali from the Philippines, and it's not unheard of for the US military to teach what they've learned to other ally nations.
What's "MUSAT" in the Korean language?
Edit: Also, if the ROKSEAL decided to create a new knife-fighting style, props to them. I'm not against it.
@@이강서-x1g (This is a second comment from me to you.)
This is the only English source I can find on MUSAT (other than ROKSEAL training videos):
"At first glance, the discipline is reminiscent of the Filipino martial art Kali, or knife fighting, although more emphasis is placed on practicality. But, according to sources. it [Kali] is only a small part of the full training, which makes use of not only daggers but also primary and secondary weapons, or simply barehands."
Yeah, like, this seems to me that the knife-fighting is Kali, and the other part of "MUSAT" is hand to hand combat training, and possibly pistol training at close combat (John Wick shit). It's also possible that other knife-fighting styles is included in MUSAT, but like I said in the first comment, "MUSAT" is just a blanket term for EVERYTHING they do, not just knife-fighting.
Edit: And as the article even said, Kali is "small" part of MUSAT.
