As a Nigerian I don't feel like Burna became big all of a sudden, he has been big since 2012 and has stayed at the top since then. I became a fan after his "Run my race" song in 2013. His shows have been selling out in the UK and all over Africa for years.
M CH of course you will feel that way. I feel that way too as a Nigerian, but you have to keep in mind that Burna’s audience in 2012 was typically Africans, whether in their respective African nations, or in the U.K./USA. Most were just uni students who were playing his music, along with other African artists. African music as a whole, (not just the Naija/Ghana popular sound) just didn’t have that global audience at the time. Now that we have big name artists doing collaborations and gaining more visibility, more light is being shed unto our African sounds! No be only Afrobeats wey dey for our continent oo na plenty sounds dey 🌍
M Ch I agree burna boy been big since 2011 but people in the states are late to his success. If your Nigerian and you follow what been happening musically on ground you would know he had huge hits like abeg abeg marshals castles remix and like to party
Abi o, I became a fan after Like To Party. That's my jam.
Yeah he has been consistent... He has been creating music since when the 9ja industry like the award shows were Shawning him... But now he is bigger than them. He has been persistent enough 4 albums, hit music right from day 1, mixtapes... He's now reaping the reward and blowing globally... Featuring Damian Marley no b small thing
Yeah since yawa dey
Finally an African in before they where famous
That’s all I been saying in my head
He's not the first.
skepta and ksi are nigerian and have been featured in episodes of before they were famous. They just were a while back. Go find them man

@@chiemxerxobi yh fair enough, I forgot about that. It's not my place to say but they're still of Nigerian descent at the end of the day, so I think they still count. But I'm white so what do I know 😅😂😂

Burna boy was a hit in Nigeria and UK since 2012.
As well as South Africa
In Zim too.....
Burna boy wasn’t a hit in the UK since 2012, people only started realising and noticing him since Ye and then from there he just released African Giant in early 2019 which made him to skyrocket. Maybe in Nigeria he was a hit but 2019 was definitely Burna’s year in regards to recognition in the UK
In Kenya too!
@@coco-de5vj Are you from the UK? Because this is FALSE. He's been big since 'Soke'. He's literally been high in demand for university appearances etc always selling out.
Who else is Nigerian
Who is not? In mind, spirit or body... Naija is global
Mee
I'm Ghanaian but I'm happy af
I’m Angolan but I’m happy that an African artist is finally getting some recognition and respect from the world, not just that but the fact that he is spreading a message and getting people to know the “oldest continent” better.

Same channel that called popcaan “Pop can”. They do not do proper research for their videos.
Rest abeg, I'm Nigerian and it doesn't even affect me
That moment when he said “yah” instead of ye
Medboy JD Ive realised that most people who are not of African descent seem to think in the song Ye Burna is just saying a “yeah”. Obviously I cant speak for all but its an observation Ive made. I cba to correct people anymore. The song speaks for itself
I cringed

Ahhhh my Ghana people be happy for West Africa it’s the best place in the world🇬🇭🇳🇬
Uhhmm. There are SOME dope things about Western Africa, but I wouldn’t say it’s the “best”. Africa as a whole has blends.
I deeply felt him when I said: " I was not rich but I was not poor"... Same boy!!! The story of the middle class in Africa
Jorja Smith before they were famous aka one fav new girl singer
What he is saying about Ghana 🇬🇭 is deep, I love my conscious black people all over the world 🌍. Ghana & Nigeria 🇳🇬 should be watched. Ghanaians and Nigeria’s should/are start’ing the awareness. Long live Fela.
He names himself african giant. And he has a voice as a giant. This man has very good music
waoooh am an african and I almost cried, our music has been used for years now and nobody really acknowledge so far!!! burna boy is making our people so proud right now...
finally African artists getting the recognition they deserve
And now he went on to win a Grammy.
Nigeria to the world🇳🇬
People don't like my accent because i am from Africa and can't be black American or something like British Africa
Eeeiiii you. Be you.
I am from Jamaica and I like his music especially # ye & location ft Dave.
I'm Jamaican too, found BurnaBoy many years ago & unfortunately I don't find *Ye* to be a spectacular song. When Koffee covered it, it was like "Why that one?". I think *Dangote* is the song Ye pretends to be. Maybe mi just nah get di message _Shrugs -
Odwayne Williams 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 hey fam.
Alot of his music sounded like Caribbean music similar.

Being African today is cool
And I am so glad. Not only do people of African decent an culture need to be respected, people need to know that yes they DO have the juice and should have NEVER been shamed.
it's always been cool. our valadation should always cime from ourselves. We do not validation from anyone else.
Always has been and always will be cool
Been cool, the western media try to discourage the world about africa

Tiwa Savage before they were famous
Finally!🔥🔥🔥
This was a beautiful, well researched video. I’m stanning!!
Thank you for this video....
Nigerian for life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He's right about African fusion and afrobeat. Africa predates the likes of America and modernized Europe and Asia and anyplace else. I love the way he had the Consciousness to say he wants to cross America over to Africa. Not the other way around. The other way around, unfortunately, already happened.
Heck yea @ Mr. Jeremy Hecht thank you very much for doing your clap thing before the video like you usually always do and you also hosted an excellent video and did a superb job keep up the amazing work
