- In this video, I put together and review The Hobby Deck from Frontier Wargaming which I plan to use for painting my Warhammer 40,000 miniatures!
The Hobby Deck is a small lap-top hobby station for making progress with hobby projects from the comfort of your sofa - so it promises a lot and I’m looking forward to trying it out!

I ordered this before seeing this video, my second purchase from Frontier War Gaming, I own the portable paint station. Love the quality, I’ve since ordered the desk top station, can’t wait to get organised.
Merry Christmas! Great video. I also got one of these for Christmas and I think the 4 magnets supplied are for putting under the accessory trays to keep them in place on the screws 👍
Thanks Luke - makes way more sense on the magnets! I was trying to work out what the screws were for if not to grip the trays - I should have realised!
Cheers - hope you’re enjoying yours 🙌🏻
Thank you!
I was very much 'why are there screw here but no magnets' and 'why are there only 4 magnets for the mini stands', so that makes more sense.
Wouldn't have minded some instructions with the product, even if 90% of it is pretty self explanatory
The wood on my five miniature stands are so tight I can't fit them together, any recommendations?
Thanks for the video! Did you ever get an update with the light or did it go out later down the road?
I did, I should have said! They sent out a replacement cable and it works just fine 👌🏼 I really enjoy using the hobby deck in the evenings!
When picking the layout, did you pick left handed or right handed cause I heard that decides on which side the cup is placed
Hey! I picked right-handed - the visualisation on their website doesn’t show the difference between selecting the right hand and left hand option, but can confirm my video shows what I received having chosen the right hand configuration. I’ve found their customer support to be very responsive so I’m sure they’d be happy to confirm 👍🏼
@@m40hobbies thanks for replying, yeah spoke to them and they confirmed the set up just switched sides so the light and cup with be placed on the opposite side and the miniature stand things will move across
@@chrislucasinc1131 Amazing thanks for sharing!
I'm considering getting this product, and as a lefty, I appreciated your question about it. It caught my eye that their website only features the right-handed version. By the way, I already own the Paint Case 2.0, and it's fantastic. This new addition will be perfect for late-night painting sessions, especially since my main painting area is near my kids' bedrooms. Having this will allow me to paint in another location without disturbing anyone.
Hi nice review, but can I ask how soft is the cushion and jaw stable is it when it’s on your lap?
Hey! Thanks for the comment - it's actually pretty good. Soft enough to be comfortable for a longer session (my longest with it so far has been about two hours and tray felt fine, my eyes got tired!) but not too soft that the tray is wobbling everywhere. For me they've got it about right.
@@m40hobbieswould have been good if you included this in the review. Kind of redundant reviewing it on a table...
