      Hi Rahul, have you tried adding casein or whey to this to boost the protein a bit?

      I also wanted to ask if this is significantly better in your opinion that protein icecream you can make in the blender? I'm trying to work out if its worth shelling out for another contraption!

    These are better than the flavors you provided a while ago. My only complaint is that they are a bit tart, but adding sweetener can make up for it. The tartness makes it an easy ice cream to not want to binge afterwards because it isn't that sweet, but what I did yesterday was add a scoop of whey protein powder after making the ice cream. I had thin mint girl scout flavor at the time, but I think any of them works. It adds up to 270 cals, but it's still less calories than most creamy protein ice cream recipies out there.

    I gotta say that I wouldn't test the machine in filling it above the line. I've read and watched so many reviews on this thing and I've learned the machine is sensitive (and NOT cheap). Lots of people have has issues with it processing the container and getting shavings of plastic in their ice cream. Reason being that the product isn't completely smooth as possible on the top, or is too full or both. Always scrape the bump that can happen in more sorbet/low fat concoctions so that when the blade goes in, it goes it level, otherwise you could lose both your pint (they aren't cheap either) or even damage the blade.
    So rules for using the machine that I've learned are
    1: Make sure it's as smooth as possible on the top before you process. Also best to wait 10-30 min before processing to have it be a little less icy
    2: Do NOT use only water/water plus mix ins. This machine needs some fat or sugar for body or it becomes too icy and can damage the machine. For instance, you could use sugar free lemonade, but not lemon juice and water alone. Same for fruit only sorbet. Use some juice or syrup.
    3: Don't go above the line for the same reasons as anything else. Don't want to break the machine.
    3.5: If your processed product is powdery, use the re-spin function. It will change chalky/powdery product into a much more smooth and creamy finish.
    I've been planning to get one of these for a while, just been waiting to buy it in my neck of the woods. I have so many things I want to try and since I don't live in the USA I will need to modify recipes a lot, but it's fun to watch for ideas! I think it will help me cut down on sugar as well as find a more fun way to have protein shakes/meal replacement shakes.

      Thanks for the tips! Def think this machine is great for eating protein shakes instead of drinking them

      Maybe if you freeze the base in an ice cube tray, then blend it with a tiny amount of milk

      🤣hahaha. Our videocaster talks so fast I don't believe he realizes half the time what he's saying. He's all good, though. I, too, like his enthusiam & lack of normal filters. Agree. Great recipes and excellent content. Love any guy or girl that doesn't follow rules. Every time, he gets it right. Yes to using almond milk, non fat greek yogurt, sometimes xanthan gum, allulose or monkfruit sweetener, set everyt pint on sorbet setting. Re-spin however necessary. Great tip on scraping down the sides of lower fat, lower sugar product, running pint with lid under warm water. 🏄‍♀

    I would think the tang of the yogurt would be a little weird for the chocolate coffee flavor

    • @RahulKamat
      @RahulKamat  2 роки тому +2

      It works really well actually cause coffee and chocolate are both bitter, combined with the sf maple syrup, it masks the tanginess
