    I started doing TMS 2.5 years ago. I noticed immediately that I felt much worse for the first few weeks before I would start going up and then level out. I felt better than I had in decades. We figured out that going M, W & F worked best or I would get headaches. We added the anxiety protocol because I was getting anxious and amped up. I’m in L.A. It’s only covered for 30 base sessions and 6 tapers. We do 3x a week and then twice until the last 4. Then once a week. I feel much better but always hit a wall about 5-6 weeks after treatments. Then my depression is horrible. My dr forces me to wait 3 months before he diagnoses me with another depressive episode and can justify ordering another 36 sessions. I’m miserable the first month, significantly better for 3, and then bad for 3. I feel like as long as I could go once a week or twice on a bad week, that I could return to a normal and productive work. It’s tragic that the treatments are regulated like this. It’s like finally finding a medication that works and only taking it for a few months and having taken away. Ridiculous and cruel.
    I have a brain injury from hypercortisolism caused by a benign pituitary tumor. I have some cognitive issues as well. My clinic treats a lot of patients with cognitive issues. They also have a language and memory protocol. It actually works, too! I’m not sure which machine they use but they only spend 30 seconds to a couple of mins in each region. Unfortunately, I moved about an hour away and haven’t been for 4-5 months and I feel horrible. I can’t a local provider. I did try a session with Spravato thinking that if it worked, it wouldn’t be cut off. The dr can determine if you need to continue or how often you need a tuneup. I only went once because of Covid. I can see the potential for it working. I’m thinking about going back now.
    Thanks for your video! People should definitely not fear TMS. Give it a try!

    I’ve had 25 sessions and I don’t feel much better than anti-depressants. I am totally disappointed right now. Yet I am dealing with very new companies and I wonder if I need to be evaluated by someone with more experience. Who wants to do ECT? Drug augmentation and outside methods who hasn’t already tried that and it didn’t work or you wouldn’t b doing TMS. I feel so hopeless to get out of this place

    I've used a tDCS device and it has helped me. It seems a very similar type of therapy to TMS.

    About to start first session of TMS. Would I get better results if I do CBD at the same time for anxiety control?

    Any thoughts on accelerated TMS with theta burst? Thanks for the optimism

      iTBS can sometimes work in patients who didn’t respond to standard rTMS. There’s supposedly a way to predict this via QEEG. Everything I’ve seen indicates response to accelerated treatment is equivalent to 5 sessions per week. The only concern I would have is whether the patient can determine during such a rapid treatment whether they’re experiencing placebo or effects of TMS before the treatment is over incase changes in treatment need to be made. Seems like accelerated treatment of 5-7 sessions per day is more suitable when you’ve already had success with a particular TMS protocol in the past so you don’t waste as much time driving every day but insurance doesn’t cover it as far as I can tell.

    I got worse from tms. I believe it did damage to my brain. Electricity applied to the brain's neurons damages some of those neurons. It is no different than ECT in that regard. It got so bad that I had to quit after 33 treatments. I will not try that again. It was bad medicine for me ...

      I'm sorry to hear this. I had one ECT session and it just traumatized me more. I was thinking about TMS but nobody wants to tell the bad experiences.

    Do you handle left-handed patients differently?

    • @anastrophe
      @anastrophe 11 місяців тому +1

      'Handedness' is a function of motor dominance, which is to say that your brain isn't 'reversed' or 'backwards' compared to other people.. TMS doesn't directly affect the motor areas of your brain, so I would not expect any differences in treatment. (I'm left-handed, and hoping to start TMS sometime in the near future)

    I just had my TMS consult. I can't listen to this, the music playing in the background when she's talking is annoying and distracting.
