Thanks for bringing back a great memory... I saw these guys at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh in 1970, they played all the songs off the Broken Barracades album. It was vinyl, and in stereo, not mono. Imagine that! Anyway this song was the highlight for me, and since there wasn't a big crowd, all the band members sat on the edge of the stage and talked to us in between songs. What a great way to spend my 18th birthday! JW
Came here to pay my respects to Gary, may he Rest In Peace. Side note after watching this performance it is no wonder why jimmy page wanted BJ Wilson as the original drummer of Led Zeppelin, He’s a power house. I mean Bonham killed it but this guy was as bombastic as they come and just the right sound that Page was looking for. Awesome performance.
I'm browsing these Procol Harem vids looking for some archival performances of Robin Trower, but I suppose he left the band before before most of the TV appearances. This is a great song, but if they pushed Trower as far back in the mix as this guitarist, no wonder he left the band. It's worth it to hear that great Hammond timbre though. Not many bands had two keyboardists until synth pop came along. Greenslade is the only other I can think of at the moment.
Wow, first I heard that. Why would he be jealous? The Band was incredibly unique! Robbie's contribution to the music world was fantastic, despite his feuding with band mates.
@@giovanna722 You may be right, I loved them both. PR has a lot of good songs and is underrated IMO. Great musicians, songwriting and Gary Brooker on vocals was fantastic!
@d047 Amen brother! We need dancers performing totally stupid moves, smoke bombs, mosh pits, spandex, electrified jump suits large tv screen graphics, light shows, pretty boys and fashionable girls. It's for people who are visual and not aural with the attention span of a gameboy!
@ropantoja while they are very original the early albums drew complaints of their ripping off gylan and the band and of course bach. i saw them twice they were stupendous!!
Oh come on! Procol Harum didn't sound anything like Dylan or The Band. They were completely and totally unique. How anyone could say this is beyond me. Give a listen, for God's sake!
yeah. only idiots would say this but it was you rock journals cuz i remember robbie robertson addressing the question. too bad he too the opportunity to put PH down.
Great band. Great song. Great performance. Horrible camera work. (e.g., Why are we seeing the back of Gary Brooker's head during one of the greatest guitar solos in history?)
My gosh, BJ Wilson was amazing. RIP and may many, many others one day recognize the brillance of this band.
There will NEVER be another BJ Wilson. He absolutely orchestrated the drums - he was a composer of the highest order.
Dave Ball , fantastic , best riff ever !

B.J. Wilson........aka "an octopus in a bathtub"! *LOL* Probably one of the best drummers of the era!
RIP, B.J.

Шедевр.
I miss real rock and roll.
Thanks for posting; sonic quality is excellent. Thank you Gary; you go on ahead; I'll be along directly...
デイブ・ボール大好きでした❗みんな良いプレイをしています。最高です❗
How many arms BJ had??
He played like an octopus!!!
The greatest drummer e_e
procol did not rip off dylan or the band. robbie robertson of the band made that comment out of jealousy
Wow. I can't even imagine a comparison between Procol Harum and The Band. They are so totally different.

@@peteshallcross787 Whiter Shade of Pale was a huge hit, bigger than any of the Band's tunes. That's probably why.

She's got electric boots, a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine!

The press often misunderstands what they hear and see.

nobody's doin' any acid on this set, eh?
No, I can't imagine they were. They couldn't have played as well as they did, could they? These guys were pros.
Very boring way to film…
