Orange is the color of chell's jumpsuit, the color of a portal, the color of a gel,and a fruit. Blue is the color of Wheatley's eye, the color of a portal the color of a gel, and the genre of music. It's kind of a 4 way pun

@@The_Foreman Indeed. But arguably, therein also lies a bit of optimism. I don't say those parts are bad, on the contrary, I believe they are hinting at the fact that maybe not all is as blue as the singer insists. In the line you mentioned, we fall through two portals, a fall we all have seen thousands of times, perfectly safe and insignificant due to how often it crops up. And, importantly, a cycle that is easy to exit. Only the falling subject's lethargy will keep her inside the cycle. I believe the lyrical narrator is a bit tongue-in-cheek. The message is that the cores seem "threatened" most by their own inactivity and resulting boredom. Glados is mentioned indirectly, but no danger is explicitly specified. Yes, they're on the other side of the glass, but it's still the test subjects that are dying in droves, not them. Test subjects died from broken bones and necks, and from ingesting the stuff while trying to solve the tests involving gel. I believe the real message is that the cores have it far better than humans. They have free roam inside the facility, Glados is occupied with the test subjects, and all they have to put up with is boredom. They complain, when all they needed to do is show some initiative. My only question is why didn't the Bassist get a callout?
Not all of the gang gets callouts in the interlude, albeit if they are one gang, they would have such points where one or two gets no time to shine. Also, Loose-Screws said that he only introduces us to some of the gang.
The thing is I can actually imagine there being parts of the facility like this, where corrupted cores/turrets/etc just do random stuff like that. Just like that theory with the monkeys eternally typing on typewriters that will eventually write Shakespeare, there can very well be a smokey Jazz-club somewhere in the depths of the Aperture Science Facility...
Honestly this is better than any of the other ones you've done, ever. I feel like this one really captures the actual depressing feel of Aperture while the others are more jokey or mysterious rather than just flat out sad. This is just wonderfully well made. Portal is still probably the most well made game in existence storywise, having both extremely dark sides and being very hilarious. It's ridiculously difficult to pull that off well without being too biased to one side or another. The only other game I've played that remotely came close is Stanley Parable. Honestly I'd be so sad if someone wasn't making content still. Portal is too wonderful to leave in the dust.
I am glad that I am not the only person who is enthralled with the intricacy of Portal's story and the rhetoric that it employs to create that atmosphere that you mentioned.
Portal is both a puzzle and horror game, i feel. You have the test chambers for the puzzle category. For horror, it's a combo of the absence of any other humans, presumably killed by glados' neurotoxin, and the short video at the end of portal 1, where the co-op droids drag your unconscious body back inside
I think the fact that it's in the same world as half life adds a whole new layer to it too. What did aperture make on the borealis that's powerful enough to beat the combine? It really gets you thinking and I hope we get an answer despite the fact that chell escaped making the portal storyline pretty much over, and the next half life game shaping up to be about fighting the gman.
Is that piano actually only playing single notes? Because that's what it sounds like, and that's how the finger-less turret would have to play. If that was actually intentional, then that's another example of this videos amazing attention to detail. Wow!
It could also be a practice dating back to the baroque period of arpeggiating chords rather than playing them all at once, since harpsichords do not have great sustain. Composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn continued the practice despite the then-newly invented piano’s ability to have longer sustains.
@@jojo_da_poe If you listen to baroque composers’ music, you will notice the harpsichord or continuo parts being played with long strings of notes rather than relatively sustained chords like the string section would have. A harpsichord’s notes decay after a short while, while a piano’s notes have long, drawn-out sustains, so that influenced how baroque music was written and played, which influenced how some classical composers wrote their music despite the improvement in sustain. In fairness, though, pianos during the classical period had brass tacks between the mallets and the strings to make them sound like harpsichords, so the sustain then may have taken a hit because of that.
What’s great is that even if you haven’t played portal 2, you can still enjoy this song. But if you have played it, you’ll understand all the portal metaphors
OH MY GOSH THAT WAS A TREAT!!! Great job! I like how it really sounds like something you'd see in a bar. This might be one of my favorites now! Animation is amazing like always as well! :D
I am normally not a fan of your music, dues to the android voices messing with its feel. But the blues with it, just sounds so melodic. That is a thumbs up from me, all the way Harry. The cards were played amazingly well. Graphic cardssss
Harry gave me attention! I am geeking out I do not think my servos can handle it! But let me not toss this chance to praise where praise is due. I only commented and how good it sounds, but I believe the writing is far under acknowledged. It is all so poetical, all so, well, I cannot find a good word to put it. IT ALL JUST CLICKS, It's like a two pin plug for a two pin port it just works. While it will be hard to introduce this to others outside of the Portal community, I believe anyone who has at least given some of their time to the games, will greatly appreciate the writing that goes into the lyrics. AND FOR BLUES NONETHELESS! Harry. Give yourself a nice break after this. I and many others would not want to see one of our greatest UA-cam creators (that are severely under appreciated) burn themselves out. Take as much time as you need with your work. Additional tip, Harry took the time to caption the video with the lyrics. If you are looking for them, no where else better to look for than the video itself. Loads of loading, Jaydonius
the lyric "Yes it's a hard life lived for that hard-light bridge… To that rail-track in the sky! But there's no mistaking it's a fall you will be taking, Cake is not this place's only lie! So when the floor gives way to ceiling… But your back is against the wall... In a loop that keeps repeating… Who can say how far you'll fall?" is just sooo good its soo deep in so many ways

If these guys play again, we need some intro for the cello player! Also amazing song, its amazing that you can do better than most in the industry and animate as well!
I thought the same thing, not one mention of the upright bassist. Also agree the animation and the singing is pretty damn fine. Now we need a weekly club encore from the cores.
Excuse me, sir. This page has so many checks on it, it is no longer legible...but I get the strange feeling it is a very accurate document on an event of much importance.
A detail I love a lot is right at the beginning, to the left you can see a sliding door with a rail right above it. I don’t know why, I just find it cute. I didn’t know cores used doors
Ii actually got the chills from the lyrics. OMG what a ride! The story, the voice acting, the little trembling in the voice, just wow. Blues was the way to go.
You know we all need to applaud Harry because he said this would come up soon and it wasn't years later. All jokes aside, you did a good job animating the rest in just a short amount of time. And the lyrics are so good too! Good job Harry. Good job.
I may be mistaken, but it's probably an intentional joke about bassists. There's a whole joke-y culture within some music circles of making fun of bassists for not being important, which is objectively not true, as bass is a very important instrument due to it doing things like providing rhythmic elements to ensembles, and many many other reasons, but unfortunately outside of music circles, bass doesn't get the recognition it deserves, and that's where those in-jokes come from.

We all know Atlas, he needs no callout
we all know the bassist doesn't get fame i know i am a bassist
A bassist Needs no Fame, He pulls in enough of the sweet Honeys to keep him happy anyway.
Not all of the gang gets callouts in the interlude, albeit if they are one gang, they would have such points where one or two gets no time to shine.
Also, Loose-Screws said that he only introduces us to some of the gang.
Because Bass solo's suck (A sut to the first person who knows where that's from)
The thing is I can actually imagine there being parts of the facility like this, where corrupted cores/turrets/etc just do random stuff like that.
The Stanely Parable is based not on original Source, but on Portal 2 version.
That explains a lot!
I am glad that I am not the only person who is enthralled with the intricacy of Portal's story and the rhetoric that it employs to create that atmosphere that you mentioned.
Im pretty sure the pit song is sad too
Portal is both a puzzle and horror game, i feel.
The core forgot to mention the composer, the one behind the scenes: Steinborg Cube-ase.
Ayyyy! 👉😎👉
He didn’t even mention Atlas xD
@@thedanklordofthesith210 Atlas wasn't an actual member. He was just there because they needed a bassist.
neither did he mention the background quartet

Is that piano actually only playing single notes? Because that's what it sounds like, and that's how the finger-less turret would have to play. If that was actually intentional, then that's another example of this videos amazing attention to detail. Wow!
It could also be a practice dating back to the baroque period of arpeggiating chords rather than playing them all at once, since harpsichords do not have great sustain. Composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Haydn continued the practice despite the then-newly invented piano’s ability to have longer sustains.
@@aycc-nbh7289As someone who does not understand much about music, I can confirm that I have no clue what in the hell you just said.
In fairness, though, pianos during the classical period had brass tacks between the mallets and the strings to make them sound like harpsichords, so the sustain then may have taken a hit because of that.
the piano-turret got some mad skills!

You. You are the channel I've been looking for all my life.
What’s great is that even if you haven’t played portal 2, you can still enjoy this song. But if you have played it, you’ll understand all the portal metaphors
I haven't even finished Portal 2 yet and I already get the metaphors.
And the gels. And the lemons.
No matter what's the genre you're making, you're always killing it. Keep up the good work man!
Meanwhile ego core is getting plastered at the charge bar
"leave the cable...."

So when the floor gives way to ceiling…
But your back is against the wall...

Love this song, I still occasionally come back to it from time to time.
Wonderfully composed and clever lyrics! Adore it!!
Aces, man. This is aces. Original, smooth, and well put together, with the same dark humor of the game.
Well done.
The only thing I feel is missing for this is that the Atlas playing the bass isn't given an introduction and mention.
But everything else is near perfection, the vocals, the lines, and the instrumentation. This is one of the best things I've ever seen and heard. You keep doing the absolute best you can do, Harry!

WAIT ONE SECOND!! Where is the love for the cello player! He's part of the band too you know. I bet he's just depressed after every performance with Cube Bert taking all his game. If these guys play again, we need some intro for the cello player! Also amazing song, its amazing that you can do better than most in the industry and animate as well!
I agree with you on needing his intro but it's an upright bass, not a cello
True, sorry I know next to nothing about instrument names.
I thought the same thing, not one mention of the upright bassist. Also agree the animation and the singing is pretty damn fine. Now we need a weekly club encore from the cores.
Anarchy Antz indeed!
hes the barteender so doesnt need any introduction i think

"Oranges and Blues"
Noice one, made me lol watching that passage during the episode.
"Life may give you lemons but we got oranges and blues" made me subscribe... :D
I liked the verse:
"Because all I feel's repulsion, and i'm bouncing off the walls."
It was a nice play on the gels.
Especially when the camera switch to EGO core right after.

How in the android hell do you not have 1 million subs yet!? This is amazing work!!
Blame it on UA-cams wonderful Algorithms...
Fits the theme because we're listening to the tale of android hell
You know we all need to applaud Harry because he said this would come up soon and it wasn't years later. All jokes aside, you did a good job animating the rest in just a short amount of time. And the lyrics are so good too! Good job Harry. Good job.
It's obvious he had a few final tweaks to do, nothing else
Well he added a little more stuff to the beginning and the new stuff is mostly new but some is from existing things.
Okay, I see a lack of appreciation for *Companion Q-Bert* and that's just not okay.
Also that Atlas bass player wasn't even introduced. *Harry how could you.*
Two things I learned from this video:
*R O B O J A Z Z*

The strings needed no introduction
he may need no intro but he does need a name... hows-about "A String Atlas"

"What's it matter what side of the glass we're on?'' is such a dark line, i love it.
