I just bought the cup system for my 46 chevy truck build, waiting for the weather to get better to test the system out, I did primer before getting the system, and it was a chore mixing the paint. Thanks for the review.
One of the benefits that I didn't talk about but inserted as a text note is that the cup is not vented. It will eventually draw out all of the air volume and allow you to spray upside down or from any odd angle. If you did that with the permanent cup, the paint would flow into the lid's vent, causing it to not spray right afterwards. Good luck with that truck!
One thing that I think I've never really mentioned in my videos is that I use a gallon jug to dump the thinner in after I've cleaned the gun. Left to sit long enough, the solids settle to the bottom and you get mostly clean fluid for the first flush the next go around. I also use that as my first wipe on a lot of stuff instead of using fresh lacquer thinner. It helps save on materials!
It basically amounts to $1 to $1.50 per use, but that's offset by not having the cost of using so much lacquer thinner to clean. It helped me because I sprayed red and then ivory within minutes of each other, stopping only to clean the gun with a spray solvent in between.
I bought this Eastwood kit about 10 years ago, and it was before I discovered Harbor Freight and before Harbor Freight greatly improved the quality of most of their tools. Half the stuff you get from Eastwood is the same as Harbor Freight but with different labeling, but the spray guns are different. I wonder who makes them?
@@RestoringChristine1956 I have recently switched over to the 3M performance spray gun because of the interchangeable tips and I spray Sherwin Williams refinish now and alot of there primers you can spray with 1.3 1.4 tips
Hey Bill you're looking like a professional! First time I used that system I loved it! You can paint sideways, upside down and anyway you need to. Not so much with the old style pot guns from back in the day.
I had an old Campbell Housefeld siphon gun in my cabinet for a long time. The last time I tried to use it, I thought it might make a decent primer gun. No way. Those things are useless once you've become accustomed to the gravity guns. And now with this cup system, you can spray upside down too?!? Sign me up!
At the end of the day, it's only plastic and a filter screen. We literally manufacture plastic bottles to toss out, so they really shouldn't be expensive. I think you're going to like them!
Thanks for the video, I just bought the cup system but don’t have a spray gun yet it’s in the mail, I got the R500 , I’m not a painter and I’m only painting my motorcycle so I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a spray gun, thanks for the video again
I used to pull the cup of the guns, punch a hole in a zip lock bag then thread it all together with the bag in the cup. Open the bag, pour in the mixed paint and now shoot upside down. 3Ms are great but $$$. This Harbor Freight cup takes the sting out of it!
i love there pps cups good size and best price at a $1 a liner and lid i always have 8 refil kits on hand if not more anytime i'm there i pick up one or two
yeah really is best price on pps cups i just hope they don't go up in price that's why whenever i'm there i pick up a few can't have to many @@RestoringChristine1956
@@RestoringChristine1956 yup especially right now on sale for $7,99 for the refill kits if you’re a track member I went and bought 10 more refill kits came out to $80 not bad for a 100 liners and lids
Nice video. I know you have had that for awhile now. Wondered when you were going to use it. It's such a great way to save on cleanup. I still mix in the tcp global cups like you have. My eyes are to bad for the print on the HF. I also use the aresol gun cleaner. Have fun Bill
I discovered the aerosol gun cleaner with Jack in the paint mixing room. He used it to clean up a slight spill and then asked if I knew about it. NOPE! But I do NOW! LOL!
I've heard a lot of good comments on that system ... I was watching you paint and hoping you were'nt hitting the roof with your suit ... looked awful close ... I'll be watchin for the rest ...
You're worried about the right thing! The roof was absolutely the hardest part to painting it. I'm not very tall and you've got to reach over to the center while balancing and holding onto the hose, hoping that nothing touches, while you try to keep the right distance and speed at the spray. Painting everything else OFF the car made it a LOT easier! I'll be uploading all of that tomorrow!
LOL! For the longest time now, so many things on the to-do list were "can't do that until after we paint." Well, now its painted, so it's a clear path from here!
Great job Bill!
Thanks! The actual paint videos will be online this weekend!

Looks great, can't wait to see it all painted. I will have that paint cup system since it work so good for you.
It made mixing and clean-up so much easier.
Nice job. The best part about that whole little system, you use a lot less paint thinner those cups eventually pay for themselves.

Video close to my garage. I have owned the same paint gun for several years with good success. I’m going to try that cup system. Thanks

We didn’t get to see the paint being sprayed, bummer.
