- In this video I go over everything you need to know to get started with overgrips. Why you replace them, which ones you should replace them with, and how to wrap your first paddle.

Thank you someone finally able to answer if you wrap differently for left and right hands.
Another aesthetic tip is to fold the overgrip kind of in half at the top for a clean edge with the finishing tape.
When I’m finishing the grip I cut it in a tapered fashion so there isn’t extra build up at the top of the grip…. It usually finishes it really nice. Good video Chris!
@@rmonsipapa I do this as well.
Yup! You can also cut it. I was going to mention it (I had even filmed it) and decided it took a bit too much extra time, and most of the time I don’t care to taper it.
Is a good too to know though!
I used Tourna Grip for a while in tennis, then switched to Wilson perforated (holes in grip). Perforated is really cushiony, adds texture for grip and less slipping over time. Handles sweat really well
Those are the only two I used and I loved them both! pros and cons to each, but IMO, the top on the market
coming from tennis, I'm no stranger to overgrips - but I watched this just because I love your videos. Keep it up!
Really appreciate that! 👊🏻
Hey chris, timing, I literally has more overgrips delivered by Amazon 10 minutes prior to getting notified of your new grip video. I love the gamma supreme grip myself.. I never tried the tourna mega grip. Maybe we can make a trade!😏. Another well presented video
That Yonex supergrab came in clutch. I needed that.
2.0 over gripping skills
Noting that there is a big difference between a replacement grip and an over grip. Some of the grips you showed were actually replacement grips so making that distinction would be helpful. Also Gamma supreme is actually a tacky grip. Great work!
I’m confused on that. I pulled my original grip off. Was I supposed to just put the over grip on top of that? Oops lol
@@Everheartt yep unless you like a thin grip where you can feel the base really well
@@HallingAdventures noted for my next paddle 😂
I’ve found it’s cleaner to cut at an angle, similar to bike handlebar tape
You are a bit confused between what is a overgrip and a replacement grip. Also supreme grip is one of the most popular tacky tennis grips in the market.
Solinco Heaven Grip is my #1 for all racquet sports
I developed “tendon elbow”, a brutal tendon injury that knocked me out of playing for the next three months at least. And I think it’s partially because I did not put overgrip on my CRBN 1x, a grip that is way too small for me. I was clenching it too tightly. Plus, I think I need a paddle with a lower swing weight. Feel feee to suggest anything.
Ouch! I over extended my elbow with a heavier paddle. I sold it and bought a gearbox 11cx control weighing at 7.7-7.8 and I’ve not had any issues. Try doing some tennis elbow/golfers elbow workouts, tiger balm, tens unit or an ultrasound device to heal quicker. Good luck
What do you think of the Hesacore?
You don’t pull off the original grip before you put the new one on?
Thanks for all the time you put into making this video. There are however, some annoying clicks throughout it.
It would help to show people what end to start with. You seemed to be starting with the wrong end given that it did not have a taper. Unless the brand you were using does not have a tapered end?
A lot of grips don’t do tapered ends. Because grip lengths vary.
I always thought the side that had the covering was the inside…
Both sides can be used actually. Me and my old club pro coach would turn it inside out after using one side. Saves money!
So do people keep the manufacturer grip on and THEN put on an over grip ever?
A lot of people do.
@ThePickleballStudio Is there a difference between overgips and grip tape?
Grip tape is the tape that is used to fasten the end of the overgrip in place. The physical properties of the tape and the grip are different. The tape is essentially like electrical tape and the grip is soft and probably absorbent
@@HallingAdventures Thanks!
Clockwise. Depends on front of clock. Doh!
