  • Unboxing and tent review of the Rightline Gear SUV Tent. I set it up solo for the first time. This tent is perfect for car camping to get a little more space when needed. I bought this off Amazon for my 2017 Toyota 4Runner to increase my camping space in bad weather. This product number is 110907 sold by rightline gear. Here is the link to check it out:

    Great video!! We Watch it for a refresh every time we camp now! One thing for any other Subaru owners; you need a carabiner for your trunk lock to trick the car into thinking its locked. Otherwise if you leave your hatch up all night you're going to wake up with a dead battery.

      hi, i am interested in how to do this. I am worried that if the trunk is open, the rest of the car doors are open too. anybody could just drive away with my car while we would be sleeping in the tent! huhuhuh. btw, i have a cr-v.

      @@nancymcshane3501 use a strap (commercial grade velcro) and use that to MOSTLY close your hatch. Leave a strip in the inside of your hatchback long enough to grab and pull on that to unvelcro the loop. Takes a little practice to get the hang of it. I’m a solo female camper as well. If you don’t count my german shepherds.

      No, just lock and unlock. I got the tent and really love it because it’s like a screen house, without the rain fly. The one I purchased has a privacy wall over 3 feet tall, and in the summer heat it stays pretty cool with a little fan. Also, you can see the stars through the screen, like it isn’t there!

    As New Year's Day 2023 is 2 days away, I found this little gem! That's a pretty dang easy set up for us SUV's that can _sleep_ 2, but that's about it. So much space for such little cost and time. Thanks so much... I never saw such a tent before, just "covers." Hope you are still out there having fun. I'll be in Arizona, via that SUV, this coming year... can't wait. Thanks!

    I guarantee my bumper never looks that clean by the time I get to a campground. The video made me realize this and I’ll clean up the bumper and hatch opening with Simple Green and paper towels before I start the setup. My german shepherds will be going in and out -across the bumper-so I’ll add a rubber mat on my bumper that goes under my mattress-to keep my bumper from getting scratched from their claws. It will give them a bit of traction as well.

    Great video! We have had ours for a year that we use at the back of our truck and canopy. I would add that it would be better if those netting pole sleeves were a solid nylon so the pole slid better through as they are always hanging up. Also the door is generally on the wrong side of a camp ground set up. In regards to the tent pegs I picked up 10 - 10” spiral nails….. they work amazing

Because there are soooo many untrustworthy campers out there today. I carry a lot of expensive equipment. I feel like people are always watching. I can only find this thing for 400$. Hi,great video. I’ve been looking at this SUV tent so I watched your video. I have a Honda pilot and it does not have cross bars on the roof. Is there another option for attaching to the vehicle? Thanks, Cat

    • @ArizonaSteve
      @ArizonaSteve  Рік тому

      They say you can connect to the windshield wipers, but I’m not a fan of that.
      I would suggest running the straps through the front doors or windows then shutting them. Just an idea. Good luck! 😊👍🏻

    I have the same tent and tried it first time last weekend. It was great but I know for sure that If it rains, the water that falls on the roof of the car will end up inside the tent (I have a Mazda CX-5 which as many mid size suvs have a sloped roof). Did you test it under the rain?

    Great video! We bought this tent and just need to know about the hatch back power that remains to run when ours is open? Our battery was dead after we tested a set up, turned off the interior lights, etc.

    After turning off dome lights and hatch lights, with the light on dash it shouldn't wear out battery if hatch open 24 hours? I do plan to get a portable jumper for the battery just incase but, been worried about being stick with a dead battery doing this.

    • @ArizonaSteve
      @ArizonaSteve  3 роки тому +3

      No, the small dash light does not draw much energy. As long as you turn off the lights and remove keys it should be good for 5-7 days like that. To build your confidence, leave it that way in your garage and restart in the morning. A bad battery could alter this outcome as well, but you should be fine. 😊👍🏻

    • @averagewelder275
      @averagewelder275 2 роки тому +1

      I wouldn't keep jumping your battery just to have your hatch open because jumping your battery multiple times can actually drain your battery and kill a cell, I would just take a couple of seconds to just undo your positive terminal on the battery for the night until you're ready to leave again. Problem solved
