As an electrical engineer I state that 90% is pure marketing talk and is not backed up by reproducible proof and measurements.
Check the videos from Amir (audio science) and Audioholics where they provide the proof and measurements. Yes they call it snake oil and I agree. But of course, cables are like jewelry many guys.

@@pjhandle Appreciate your input! While it’s true that marketing can sometimes overshadow substance, Garth breaks down measurable factors like noise reduction and signal integrity that high-quality cables address. It’s less about ‘jewelry’ and more about performance in specific setups - definitely worth exploring.

@@Architechne Been in this industry a long time. No doubt AudioQuest makes very very well made and engineered cables. However, mentioning measurable factors and actually showing measurements are two different things. One can discuss all they want about noticeable, measurable, tangible but are there scientific results they can share and others can replicate? For one, I see A LOT of snake oil in this industry: 4 port network switches that are $1000-$2500, $100 for a 3 foot network cable that is audiophile, $1000 headphone cables (seriously?) and etc etc. I have gone through many cables from $50-$500 and I can't for one really tell if there is any difference. I think a UA-cam channel even used a coat hanger to show how it can transmit current and make your speakers sing. Anyway, expensive cables make sense when your speakers are of extremely high budget. Just like your car. If you buy a car for $200,000+, there's no way you're putting on a set of tires for $1,000, right? I mean you're going to spend at least $5,000-$10,000 for a set of tires. This is how I look at cables. Keep them within 2%-5% of your total speaker budget and you'll be fine.

I have worked for an audio company that sold AudioQuest and we all knew they didn't make a difference! I know people who worked at UpScale Audio that have said the same thing also, that the only reason they sell products like AudioQuest is for customers who truly believe (The definition of believe; accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.) that it makes a difference in their setup. There is a great video on youtube where they do a blind listening test with Klipsch Lascala and in one test they use the AudioQuest Niagra power conditioner, the other they didn't use the $10,000 conditioner, and they preferred the setup WITHOUT the conditioner. Also, keep on deleting my comments and I will come back and repost them. Garth, you and your team deserve to be put behind bars.

Also most if not all surge protectors you buy are non-sacrificial. I've been using the same Monster and Belkin surge protectors for 10+ years now and they've gone through several electrical outages, voltage fluctuations, surges and still running and not once did anything fry or go kaput on me. And I have hooked up thousands of dollars worth of gear in it, not to mention I trust them with my entire photo and film studio PC setup at home with a dozen backup hard drives.

Where can the result be found of these measurements and what the setup was, so that it can be verified and confirmed by others? Vendors should be challenged more to publish these.
