Yea, I wonder if all these small engines will last in the long run. Small displacements with high compression and turbos working them to death in the name of gas mileage. Seems like the larger displacement engines would last longer, kind of for the same reason diesel engines and Chevy small-block engines last so long, they aren't worked very hard most of their life. That said, the Camry engines sometimes use oil too much. I've heard a quart in 1200 miles even. A modern engine that uses oil is concerning. You can' win.

Thank you, well done review and fair! I still like Accord vs. Camry reviews even though I made my choice three years ago by buying a 2019 Camry. Its strong, economical engine, 8-speed transmission, styling and Toyota reliability won me over. I did make a $1200 upgrade from the base LE to the base SE to get the sportier wheels, trim, steering wheel, better climate control AC, Softex interior, power drivers seat, etc. So far I've gotten the reliability, economy and performance I hoped for so if I were buying today I'd feel comfortable buying a 2021 or 2022 Camry. @@zahinfaiz2571 Sorry, just saw this. I've had my 2019 Camry SE over 4 years with no problems other than Toyota's fuel pump recall which I had done with a normal oil change so it was no real inconvenience. Passing on a two-lane highway is fine, downshifting is ok at highway speed. At very low speed, like a rolling stop, downshifting to second gear is slow but acceptable. As mentioned in the video, the Camry SE has a firmer ride than the base LE trim but it's not harsh at all. Much of that is the SE's 18" wheels over the LE's 17" wheels. I'm pleased I chose the SE trim level and would do it again. For $4000 more the XSE trim adds a lot of nice features but its larger 19" rims give a harsher ride and greater danger of a pothole destroying the wheel and tire.
Thanks for reviewing the lower trims. I bought the Camry for a few reasons and mostly for longevity. I don't like cvts and the Turbo oil dilution. Hands down Camry. Non turbocharged engines will be more reliable. I have driven both of these base model cars on long road trips for work and I can vouch for the Camry being much more comfortable. The manual adjustment with no tilt and no lumbar adjustment in the Accord would be a deal breaker for me. The seats are terribly uncomfortable on long rides. My lower back was to the point of burning after about an hour of driving. I also found the Accord to ride harsher and let in more road noise then the Camry. I will say the interior in the Accord felt a bit more airy, but the one piece rear seat is a total joke at this price point…come on Honda. I like that the Camry offers a moon roof, blind spot detection, and heated seats as options where the Accord does not.

I love my 1991 Honda Accord EX. The size is perfect. It’s like driving a go kart for adults. I sure wish Honda could recreate this wonder for a new vision in 2023!
I test drove both. But settled for a Civic. Of these two, I thought the Accord Sport 2.0T was the best, having driven each trim level of both brands. Honda handling seemed more sharp and assuring in tight corners and quick response situations at every trim level over the comparable Toyota.
I'm thinking about 2022 civic hatchback and 2022 accord. I really like the manual hatchback but Accord may have more towing power for the family. Any thoughts?
@@BDAILY365 my perspective on towing is to run a bigger, not turbo engine if it's a load of 1000+. However, a Honda Pilot with a 3.5L 250hp 9speed auto offers 3500lbs towing, 5000 with towing pkg. They are rock solid. I've sold many. The RAV4 is in the same crowd with a few driveline issues. My alternative to the Honda Pilot would be a Ridgeline Pickup, if it's in your budget. Inside it feels like a car, handling feels similar to a car, works like a truck. Bulletproof dependability. I'd buy a used 5 year old Ridgeline, midline model and use it as a daily driver and weekend boat tow vehicle. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A LONG DRIVE in the Ridgeline. Then you'll really understand what a thoroughly brilliantly engineered vehicle it is. Lastly, you may want to look at a Subaru, non-turbo Forrester, if you have lighter, under 1500lb duty towing. Very solid and reliable. If buying used, check around the valve cover seals for leakage. The 2.5L Boxer engine has a history of head gasket leaking. If there's any signs, avoid it. If you do buy one, make regular check for leakage. I had one for over 100k...nada Do NOT opt for the Turbo.
Both are great cars! Camry definitely looks sharper, but Accord is slightly larger. Both have good features. Awesome vehicles and you can't go wrong with either!
Great base model comparison I prefer the looks of the accord interior and exterior. I purchased an accord I only worry about all the fancy stuff breaking like turbo charger and cvt tranny so I just bought an extra warranty out the door with warranty and all on a bad model from ft worth Honda got it for 24500 not bad and like i said that’s with a warranty at 1.9 intrest. I have already put 18000 miles on it no issues
I have an 2007 camry. bought it used. was between an accord and a camry. The camry came up as available. these cars are hot. if they are priced right and in good shape they sell in a second. love my camry SE. Accords are great too.
For more spaces, go with Accord; Turbo plus direct injection engine with have valves coated with gunks, requiring special walnut powder blast to clean after 50k miles, otherwise, the engine performance decrease over time. Honda's famous engine oil dilution by gasoline will result early engine failure. CVT will require more frequent tranny fluid change by every 30k miles, otherwise, there will be premature cvt failure. So many Honda owners reported Honda CVT failure online. For engine and tranny longevity, go with Camry, plus more adjustable drive seat and more air bags. No need to worry about valves cleaning, the tranny fluid is at least 150k safe, many owner drives more 250k with changing tranny fluid at all without tranny failure.
Those issues you mentioned where on the CRV when they first made the switch to turbos and CVT. My 18 Accord has almost 180k miles on it and its been fine
Prime, I’m leaning more towards the Camry, because the all-wheel drive (for New England winter driving) and regular transmission than the CVT (yuck!) and Smaller Turbo combo. By the way great review!👍🏻👍🏻
I hope Honda has improved there ride I drove one 7 years ago it rode so rough so I went with a Camry but I am 70 years old the older you get the smoother you like it.
I've owned cars with turbo and aspirated engines. My preference is the aspirated engine. It just feels more natural to me. Plus, I care more about reliability and MPG than speed.
Since the 1980s I have owned and driven nothing but either a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord. Most recently I had an unfortunate accident with my 2006 Toyota Camry and it was a low speed (under 25 mph) accident, because of its age, my Camry was totaled by the insurance company. During my transition period I drove a rental and it was a 2021 Camry SE with leather seats. I eventually replaced it with a 2021 Camry LE , with a few feature variations. I personally prefer the leather seats and could upgrade my LE to leather for about $ 1300. With respect to the Honda , while I realize that the features have changed, I tend to drive my cars over many miles. The 2006 Camry that was wrecked had 191,000 miles on it and probably was good for at least another 75,000 - 100,000 miles. , given its excellent maintenance history. From my experience the Camry feels better on the road and overall the air conditioning system is more durable. Unless they have improved the air conditioning system, it is weaker than the Camry. Either way, you get a reliable car but I would opt for some version of the Camry , every single time. Next time I would definitely go for the SE or XLE version....at the right price.
I got the accord lx. Cvt is not as bad I thought. No shifting sensation. I also have an 2011 ex. It's naturally aspirated. Feels heavier and more solid
fainally someone comparing the base models. all the other reviewers are reviewing the top trims with upgraded engines when most people buy base or one up from the base with base engine. so, thank you.
Very Good & Informative Review! Not Bad When You Consider It Has 203 HP, Although I Would Much Rather Have The SE Becuz Of The Sunroof, Leather Seats/Steering Wheel & Push Button Start Options It Comes With....CHEERS!
@@algorerhyth I guess it would have been helpful to have proof read my comment b 4 posting it, I failed to mention which car I was referring too, my bad!
I’m 6ft 4in tall and have driven both cars and The Camry has it beat when it comes to driving. Myself I’m more comfortable driving the Camry. Also take note Honda needs to do a better job with there alarm system. Notice how Hondas have had their tires and converters stolen from their cars then any other cars? That is because you can shake that car without setting off alarms on it. As for the ac my LE Camry has climate control and both passengers and driver. As for power I have 2 friends that legally had raced the LE and mind you The Camry LE has a Eco Normal and Sport buttons but anyway in a distance run The Camry ended up going 12 mph faster then the Accord but when driving on a public road no reason to go faster then the speed limit.
I really appreciate that you used base models to compare! I currently drive an 06 Corolla, and I'm looking at upgrading to a Camry for the AWD option. I'm also unsure of CVTs, so I like the more traditional automatic setup that Toyota offers.
I came from 2005 matrix to a toyota with cvt... I will tell you though that the fuel economy is night and day compared to the regular automatic. The 8 speed auto in the camry is fine too. The only "gripe" that people have on the CVT is taking off from the line in which regular automatic is a winner for sure but halfway after takeoff the cvt catches up and passes the one with regular automatic with ease while using less rpms too. Since you have 06 corolla I'm going to give you a better example below 06 Corolla when going 60mph it's normally around 2000rpms but when you hit 75 mph it's around 3000rpms. However in a toyota corolla with CVT at same speeds, 60mph less than 1500rpms, 75mph is about 2000rpm. The camry is nice and comfortable for sure.
@@alvinsimba734 The Camry 2.5L with 8-speed auto at ~70-75mph is about 1700rpm! At about 65mph on the highway it can deliver about 45 mpg - pretty amazing for a 3300 pound midsize car!
I've owned & have been a Honda Accord fan for many years, but the rear end of the new Accord is just so FUGLY! The Camry looks much better & the Camry's dashboard looks so much more upscale. I also appreciate how the base model Camry comes (standard) with a power driver's seat, that AWD and a Sunroof are also both available on the base Camry, but (neither are available on the base Accord). I would choose the Camry, with the optional Sunroof/Moonroof, because the rear end of the Accord from 2018-2021 are just so FUGLY! :-)
Between these two I would pick the Camry but I’ve also heard many reviews mentioning the not altogether smooth drivetrain - sometimes confused transmission. It seems the Hybrid version, even discounting the economy, with its greater torque and bulletproof hybrid system is worth the extra money?
Same. I had a 02 civic for my first car and the second was a 2010 accord. Both used and had nonstop issues and me pumping money into just for another issue to take its place. I just copped the Camry 23 LE yesterday and I'm so happy with my decision
Try getting one today for $26k....good luck. Only months after this video was posted prices went insane high. You can't even get a used Corolla for this price today
@@matt4398 why would not chose a smooth non shifting trans. I can remember when fuel injection came about and people were leary of it too,,scared of oil delution..change your oil more frequently
I like the both, but I prefer the Accord after driving both of them. Sitting position and feedback from steering was better in the Honda. The clean gauge layout and spaciousness of the interior was another plus for Honda. Additionally, I thought the Accord was the more attractive of the two.
Camry would take my money due to the following reasons. 1. Better outlook especially the front end. Accord front is odd and weird. 2. NA engine mated with traditional torque converter transmission is better for longevity with trouble free. Provided normal and regular maintenance applied. 3. Prefer Camry interiors over Accord. 4. Better and solid resell value.
i have always been an accord guy myself. the ride is a bit more stiff than the camry. but, it feels more planted in the corners, and gets better MPG. that said, i do miss my manual...
I love how the accord doesn't look like a base model while the camry does. If I had to rent one, I'd go accord. The interior feels more upscale, dual zone climate control, quieter ride, more comfortable seats, and more space.
Actually, another person tested it and the only louder thing about the Camry is the engine. If you're not raving it like he is, at highway speeds and on roads Camry is much quieter.
I've been driving for 40 years. I currently own a 2020 Honda Civic that is just plain murder on my lower back. I driver Lyft and Uber and I'm telling you, this car is nice, but maybe nicer for younger people. I'm actually going to trade the Honda in for a Camry. I just want to be comfortable and they don't make old-school cruisers anymore. Camry it is.
I always love Hondas. But in this case maybe camry will be my choice. At the end this is a question of money. Than more you can buy for a less money - will win.

The next Camry will have a turbo 4 , the same one that’s slated to be in the new Lexus models . Toyota doesn’t care as much about cars going over 300k miles .
I am looking for a new Camry, as I have had two wonderful Camry's. Interesting differences between the Accord and the Camry. As I drive a lot of highway miles, the Camry sounds like my choice.
I like the interior of the accord touring, friggin gorgeous. But I like the exterior of the Camry and the camry still has the V6. I think the Honda has a cvt tranny and those suck. I dont know, I like them both. I love that touring interior, its a knockout.
Your review is very confusing for instance, while you are comparing one car to the next in-between frames you don't say what car you are reviewing having me wonder if you are still talking about the Camry or did you switch to the accord. You should always prefix your description with for example: The Honda accord has this or The Toyota Camry has that if someone is only listing to your review they would lose track.
As in mid size sedan Camry and Accord are comparable, Similarly here in Pakistan The two compact sedans of both the toyota and Honda are step brothers of Pakistani auto industry.. Corolla Vs Civic
Accord LX beats any base model trim out there. Push to start, adaptive cruise control, full led headlights and taillights. Bluetooth. And most importantly, the exterior is the EXACT SAME STYLING as the Highest trim. The Camry is ugly af if isn’t the XSE or TRD trim
Maybe it’s just you that don’t like the Camry but for me Camry all the time I don’t like that slopping roof on it or check out the Mod on the Camry and Accord Camry looks a lot nicer 😂
Mazda6 is the base model king it has all those features mentioned plus blind spot monitor leatherette dashboard and door panels and on the center console as well as rain sensing wipers which none of these have
The Camry will last much longer being a non turbo engine and a gear transmission. A Continuous Variable Transmission are not as reliable as a conventional transmissions with a turbo engine that's a disaster that will cost you in expensive repairs in the future unless your leasing it.
Imo the tail lights on the Accord is ugggggglllyyyy. I have a 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid being made in a factory now and I should have it by the end of the year :)

I had one for over 100k...nada
Do NOT opt for the Turbo.
I’ll take the Camry over the Accord I just think the Camry looks better to me
The Camry has a better exterior while the Accord has a better interior
@@huyquangnguyen3437 handsome😭😭
Accord design is so Cool
Camry
Both are great cars! Camry definitely looks sharper, but Accord is slightly larger. Both have good features. Awesome vehicles and you can't go wrong with either!
I want the 2 litre accord. Beautiful car.
Toyota all day long and twice on Sundays 💪
Even though I am a Honda person, I will pick Camry to avoid the turbocharged engine in Accord.
Very smart😄
I hope Honda has improved there ride I drove one 7 years ago it rode so rough so I went with a Camry but I am 70 years old the older you get the smoother you like it.
had a 15 accord this 10 gen accord rides 10 times better, without sacrificing roadability
Hard, hard choice. There is no wrong answer. Drive both and get the one you like more
I've owned cars with turbo and aspirated engines.
The Honda Accord for me
Both are great, but the Accord is phenomenal. I’ll choose the Accord. It’s just built to suit. Good comparison Nolan.

I would prefer the Accord. I rented a few different Camry’s, honestly I didn’t care for either one.
I got the accord lx. Cvt is not as bad I thought. No shifting sensation. I also have an 2011 ex. It's naturally aspirated. Feels heavier and more solid
vote Accord Better gas mileage, more space, more quality with higher models.
Great Job Nolan Accord for me
fainally someone comparing the base models. all the other reviewers are reviewing the top trims with upgraded engines when most people buy base or one up from the base with base engine. so, thank you.
Very Good & Informative Review! Not Bad When You Consider It Has 203 HP, Although I Would Much Rather Have The SE Becuz Of The Sunroof, Leather Seats/Steering Wheel & Push Button Start Options It Comes With....CHEERS!
You might have sold me on the se
@@algorerhyth I guess it would have been helpful to have proof read my comment b 4 posting it, I failed to mention which car I was referring too, my bad!
@@gregholman2930 No worries. We all knew which you were referring to. ;)
Since you have 06 corolla I'm going to give you a better example below
06 Corolla when going 60mph it's normally around 2000rpms but when you hit 75 mph it's around 3000rpms.
@@QuentinQuatermass that much I know. I can do 80-90mph in 2000rpms on my 2020 corolla LEA
The Camry dashboard does not look more upscale, it looks extremely tacky with all that cheap piano black plastic
thank u!
Between these two I would pick the Camry but I’ve also heard many reviews mentioning the not altogether smooth drivetrain - sometimes confused transmission. It seems the Hybrid version, even discounting the economy, with its greater torque and bulletproof hybrid system is worth the extra money?
I have own 2 accords but if I buy another car it will be a camry. Accord looks good but they have gone down hill with thier engine and transmission...
No kidding, such a shame
I skip the Honda due to turbo engine and cvt.
Direct injection only+ turbo= guaranteed carbon build up in a few years
exactly. the Toyota has a naturally asperated engine and a real transmission. you cant beat it for the price.
@@matt4398 why would not chose a smooth non shifting trans. I can remember when fuel injection came about and people were leary of it too,,scared of oil delution..change your oil more frequently
Thank you! Very interesting 😊
How is the Accord seat comfort compared with camry ?
I like the both, but I prefer the Accord after driving both of them. Sitting position and feedback from steering was better in the Honda. The clean gauge layout and spaciousness of the interior was another plus for Honda. Additionally, I thought the Accord was the more attractive of the two.
Still cant decide? Maybe whatever dealership will actually sell at MSRP instead of overcharging haha
Both are good but the one that offers a naturally aspirated v6 gets my vote no matter how quick the accord is.
@Florida Man don’t tell me that. Tell the other reviewers about it
I only want a reliable quiet smooth engine. The v6 Camry exceeds that
@Florida Man No
Acceleration is neck and neck but Csmry handles better
You do realize the industry is going turbo all the way . Toyota just hasn't done it yet but it's going to be on the next camry .
@@dannybishop68 Yep. The 275 hp turbo 4 will most likely replace the V6.
The only two brands I'd ever buy
I thought so too until I got Mazda 6 turbo
@@njnikusha At least is japanese.
In the end it just comes down to which Car you
favored kinda like me , I’m a Honda kinda guy !!!!
Had both...ACCORD every time!!**
Well your coming from a compact car so any midsized sedan will be better , not just the camry
I always love Hondas. But in this case maybe camry will be my choice. At the end this is a question of money. Than more you can buy for a less money - will win.
true, once honda figures out again that we do not want the turbos and cvts, then their sales will increase dramatically. give me a 4 cyl, 6 speed with low speed follow and brake hold with honda sensing and I'll buy a new accord. i own a 2012 Honda civic 1.8 here, 210,000 miles, no issues and is the everyday driver over 100 miles a day. also own a Mazda cx7 68,000 miles engine, vvt, transmission and turbo failed, suv is still sitting in the grass in the yard.
Camry interior hands down. The dash is gorgeous. Exterior wise, Camry again. The Honda
is kinda weird IMHO
ACCORD = sporty feel/drive + more/better technology
CAMRY = smoother ride + quiet/comfortability (luxury at lowest price)
Camry for me due to the comfortable ride. Accord rides a little too harsh for my taste.
Both are fantastic cars
Both cars are great and reliable. Personally i dont get the base model when i buy cars.
i wished they sold a camry at 26-28k in Italy. At that price we just have a hatchback corolla
I’d pick the mazda6 sport most standard features best interior Toyota reliability however it’s the smallest
Lovin’ it!!!
Reliable ❤❤❤
I’d go Camry hands down. I like the trim better and I also don’t like the cvt transmission on the Accord
The front grill of the Camry is a deal breaker for me, I hate the f out of it.
Yes. Me too.
I've owned a few Hondas before. They are good cars. I'm curious about the Toyota tho. Looking into buying a new Camry.
Just got a 22 Camry XLE. Fully loaded and with higher quality interior makes all the difference. Tho my F150 is still the fave. Ha.
As in mid size sedan Camry and Accord are comparable,
Similarly here in Pakistan The two compact sedans of both the toyota and Honda are step brothers of Pakistani auto industry..
Corolla Vs Civic
toyota for life why
1.no turbos
2.better fuel economy
3.better resell vaule
4.more reliable
5.just beautiful handsome looking cars
like the camry but the they dont have cd player anymore
Accord 💪 still more fun to drive
Yup, I love both brands but the civic was rated most fun to drive compared to the corolla
Key ignition. You have someplace to put your key in. Push button start is the dumbest thing.
Accord LX beats any base model trim out there. Push to start, adaptive cruise control, full led headlights and taillights. Bluetooth. And most importantly, the exterior is the EXACT SAME STYLING as the Highest trim. The Camry is ugly af if isn’t the XSE or TRD trim
yet it doesn't have LED high beams on the base.....
Maybe it’s just you that don’t like the Camry but for me Camry all the time I don’t like that slopping roof on it or check out the Mod on the Camry and Accord Camry looks a lot nicer 😂
You didn’t watched the video he literally said that the accord has halogen high beams
Mazda6 is the base model king it has all those features mentioned plus blind spot monitor leatherette dashboard and door panels and on the center console as well as rain sensing wipers which none of these have
Review corolla le with civic lx please
Accord looks much much better than Camry.
My last Accord (2008 4cyl EXL Navi) made me hate its weak engine (for the car’s weight) as well as hate its road noise.
I'd take the Accord.
Honda accord are looking so good and sexy on the road more then any cars .
Why not Mazda 6?
I think it’s as good, if not, better than these 2 cars.
Camry for the win, anyday
I'll take the Accord
Me too. Make mine a Honda. 😉
