- Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that results in clogged and infected airways, malnutrition, and very salty sweat. Most people with this disease only live up to 40 years old. Curious as to why these symptoms and shorter lifespan occur? You've come to the right place - Medicurio is video series that will explain the pathogenesis, or the mechanism, of many common diseases. New videos come out every other Wednesday.

pro tip: watch series at Kaldrostream. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Marley Colin definitely, been using Kaldrostream for years myself :)
Thank you so much for this, there's a huge lack of information explaining how certain diseases result in their set of symptoms. I really look forward to more videos like this :) subbed.
I was SO confused about this topic at first but this video made everything nice and clear , thank you so much
Thank you for making this video, and for helping spread awareness of this rare disease.
Thank you! Med student here and you saved me so much stress and time!
I am not even med student and learn this shi for fun lol
Great video, i no longer need to explain to everyone what it is great love it.
love your work
the best explanation about CF. Thanks!
I know this sort of thing isn't especially engaging for a person unaffected by the condition, not taking a class involving these mechanisms, or someone not in a related field...but as someone of none of those, I really enjoyed the video. This is the sort of channel I can see growing! Like when you see massive edutainment channels with amazing graphics...they started out with complicated concepts made entertaining by a common digestible thread...entertainment. This was entertaining.
Another sub from a medical student. Very informative please keep them coming :)
omg this explication was soooooo good, extremelly clear and objective
Excellent video! Keep up the good work!
thank you so much that was way easier and straight forward
Perfect. Looking forward to more vids.

I just wanted to let you know 😊
Good stuff
More videos please
Fantastic! Incredible! Amazing! Wonder! Super!
quite interesting, just hope you had a better mic
Great video, very informative. Maybe a prognosis toward the end?--I know the mortality rate is unfortunately high, but don't know details.
You said on Reddit this is a new series -- good luck! This was informative and interesting. The pacing could be accelerated.
Ross Heintzkill That's actually a pretty complicated topic. Especially with recent medical advancements. This disease affects each individual VERY differently.
This is awesome =D
Great yar
how did you do it can you share with me , thank you
thank you so much i understood everthing about Cf >> thannnnk you
I am 11 years old I have been diagnosis cystic fibrosis when I was two or one the doctors not explain a lot info that you just gave me because they did not want to worry me thank you for helping me understand for my condition I no longer have to share with my classmates what cystic fibrosis is because I can just show them this video thank you
Emma, I'm so glad my video can help you! I wish you all the best and I hope better and better treatments for cystic fibrosis will be made for you.
wow i finally undestand it.
Great but you need a new better mic
Icetearz just bought a new one, the next video will have better quality.

Yay!
I'd suggest better audio but nice info overall.
I ran out a couple of days ago
You are greeeeeeeeeet😘😘
Thanks for this. My Grandma had Cystic Fibrosis and was told she wouldn't live to be 20 but lived to 60 and up to now the only thing I new about it was it had something to do with mucus in the lungs. I've been told I am a carrier (male) and I was wondering if you could explain what this means for any children I have in the future..
You should probably get genetically screened. It'll help you calculate the probability of having children with CF. There's a bunch of genetic counsellors too that can assist you with the process.
It'll also prove useful for the pregnancy process - as carrier testing can help you decide to get pre-natal testing which will help you decide what to do with the foetus if it does test positive for CF.
I'm hopeful that I will naturally heal
It could also be paced just a little faster
Thanks for the suggestion!
Emma constantly says I look pale. I say that's because of lack of oxygen. Then it worries her. But what can we do. The government has taken away most of opportunities to become a healthier person

Sub from a microbiologist :)
Thanks for the support!
This content is fantastic. With the end portion about global susceptibility- theres evidence to suggest that faulty CFTR actually provides immune resistance against typhoid because the pili can't attach to the mutated CFTR, cholera resistance because the faulty CFTR won't pump out ions and water so you don't get watery diarrhoea and TB resistance down to disruption of Chloride homeostasis -> reduced ARSB -> reduced hydrolysis of sGAGs -> reduced levels of sulphate available to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which it needs in its cell wall for virulence
meaning Cholera, TB and Typhoid could have all been selective pressures for high CFTR mutation in Europe!
The play off between the more deadly diseases and how that leads to genetic variability around the globe is so cool.
Keep making these fantastic videos.
you need to clarify the content
I don’t want to die :(((((((((((((((((( (help)
