The 2 small round indents near the stern that was questioned are intended for passages for your transducer cables. The grooves in the rear deck are also for the cable leading tot the Duce mounting location on the bottom.
I bought the Recon as soon as my local dealer got one in.I have got nothing but love for this thing since I bought it.I am a big guy, 300# and 6 feet tall.It is very stable even in rougher open water.I stand on it no problem.I did add the rudder kit,as I do offshore fishing on a large lake.Makes paddling on windy or high traffic days much easier. Also nice is that aside from the staging fir 4 rods,I can carry 4 3700 trays under the seat, wit 2 3600's on either side, plus another 5 3700's or tons of other gear in the front hatch tray.Awesome Yak for the price.
Aliex you read my mind, i been looking at this kayak online and now im pretty much sure its going to be my next kayak. Those guys from action watersports seem like very helpful people i would love to visit that shop in the near future.
Helix drive $1149.99 Recon lists at $1099.00. Helix drive ratio is 6:1, PDL drive ratio is at 10.3 :1 . Looks like a side by side comparison to Recon and Top Water are in order. Which is faster, easier to pedal at same speed, flips easier. I just wanna see you falling in the water again. lol. Hull weight 95 pounds, weight capacity 450, length 12"-2" , hull height 15"' , width 38" .
I hope they remake the radar. i really like the overall concept and the hull design. There are just areas that need to be improved with the construction and layout that would put it among the best kayaks. Most of those improvements have been made with the recon so I'm hopeful they take some of that and apply it to the radar in a future remake.
I did buy this kayak and I love it. I really like the fact that you can upgrade the drive in the future if wanted. The rod storage and stability is nice and tracks well for how large it is. Whoever else decides to get this will not be disappointed in it. I compared this with the Bonafide RS 117 or the Oldtown Sportsman 120 and chose the recon over those two.
Those round holes are for the Wilderness Through Hull Kit. You drill a 1 3/8 inch hole there and fit the kit to feed your fishfinder wires in the front. The back one is for your transducer wires. If you look, there is a small recessed spot in the back right before the round through hull spot where the wire lays, and there is built in recessed pad eye areas to hold the transducer wire down. Rear scuppers have transducer mounts.
Great review Aliex as always. I almost did purchase it but it’s really heavy. I love how wide it is tho and affordable. Another thing is I don’t like that it doesn’t have tracks in the back. And I like hobie pedals better cause you can lay them flat under the hull and with these pedal drives you can’t. It’s probably too heavy to paddle. And it sucks that they didn’t add the holes for the micro power pole like the shearwater and others. I don’t like the idea of having to drill holes for it or buy extra adapters. Other than that, amazing kayak and I might demo it in the future and make my decision. This kayak has potential
I agree some seats you have loose the hand screws which get tied up, like they are hard to set loose on the water and then you move the seat to the front or back, tighten the screws but not enough and the seat move back lol 😂 hate that
Hi, I can't find a kayak roof rack for this model, I bought 2 recon 120 and I have a Hyundai Tucson. All kayak roof racks that I see on market are 36 inches and 75lbs and recon 120 is 38 inches and 94.6 lbs. Any suggestions?
just got the recon without the pedal drive , what is a good price on these ? the round pieces in the front actually rest a paddle straight across and on other boats from Perception they are a notch for a paddle
I'd love to get this but I don't want to pedal. Is paddling in this boat good? I get it's 38" wide and will be slower, but is it terrible? And does being that high off the water cause issues paddling?
the Recon is a paddle board not a kayak but it's trying to be a fishing kayak which means that it's neither because if you try to stand up in it you're going to trip if you try to sit down in it it's going to be like sitting on a paddle board except that you can't do anything everything is in your way

Pedal drive is good and bad, I will have a radar with that drive water demo soon! Stay tuned
I'm wondering the same thing about the Helix pedal drive
Love this. You should do a video on the Nucanoe Unlimited yak.

Can you add a Bixby electric motor set up?

how long of a paddle would you need on a 38" wide boat! sounds tedious to paddle, no? probably gotta go with the pedal or power!
250cm minimum, depends on your height

95# per their website but you know how that is who knows we need to weight those yaks
How hard would it be to make it like an e bike with pedal assistance?
