Some good information regarding kayak stability. Remember to keep your head near the centre line and you will not flip. My tip for new kayak users is don't worry so much about stability. Go for a kayak like the Salty which is fast and efficient. You will cover more ground, catch more fish and feel less fatigue.
@@cameroneagle4370 for river fishing it is simply the best I have had and I think it’s great you can adjust the size accordingly I have a Subaru out back and it is like the same length I use Malone j hooks if you have a better means of transportation like pickup truck you can see up to the 120 the lifetime warranty on the hulls reassuring and the 5 year on the drive is great and it is built like a tank my favorite is the seat I do recommend this to you it can be used in ocean, lake, and river
Aliex, this was my 1st year, that I finally bought my 120 pdl. And I told you, I have the 46lb thrust trolling motor, with the Bixpy J2, on my rudder. Because of you, I knew basically a stabil, affordable PDL, motorized kayak is 12ft x atleast 34 inches wide. I can walk my deck, bow to stern. But I weigh 151lbs, and I'm 5ft 7". Thanks for all the honest info, physically showing us all these boats on the water. Glad I subscribed long ago..😜👍🎣🙏
dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my brother lately =)
Great review👍 The first time I stood up in that boat I was shocked at the stability standing as well. One of the fastest pedal yaks, but still extremely stable standing up.
Hey great videos!! I am going to buy a peddle kayak and was wondering if I can get the dealer to come offthe MSRP price. Can you give me some guidiance?
Hi Aliex, love your videos. I was thinking of picking up the sportsman 120 pdl. I'm worried that I may be a little short to reach the pedals though. I'm 5'6" tall. Do you think I'll be able to comfortably reach the pedals with the seat pushed all the way forward?
I would like to know this too. Im not worried about the propeller in sand, but what happens if you encounter a shallow oyster bed in dark water? I think im more worried about the rudder.
@@forevergreen3330 On the pedal drive there is a sacrificial knob that will break and the drive will pop up. Navarre Kayak Fishing sells a soft knob that won't break when the drive pops up. The rudder very easily pops up if you hit something. When that happens, all you have to do is push redeploy the rudder.
I still haven't flipped my lifetime tamarack 10 foot. I doubt the way I fish I could flip the salty pdl. There is a couple lakes that get 3-7 foot waves here that could flip me if they caught me sideways though.
Awesome content! Question how much more stable is the 120 salt or regular 120 vs the 132 big water?? They had a crazy sale at dicks yesterday. I got the 132 pdl for 1750 and wondering if I should try and sell or trade for a 120 model. Thanks
well here is the thing, the 136 standing up is super stable due to the high wall, now while seating, it is not as stable, maybe a bit less than the 120 salty.. but like stability wise you wont get much of an upgrade you, the 120 pdl is way more stable
So how is the stability all I’ve heard from people is that it’s stable. But emailed some guy from old town and he told be that’s it’s not stable enough to stand and cast? Would to see your opinion. For reference I stand really good on a crescent ultra lite.
I think I cover all in this video, I can stand up but someone new may have issues, this boat is not as stable as the 120 pdl but you can stand up and fish just wear a pfd and be mindful of where you stand up I mean moving water is not fun
@@AliexFolgueira , muchas gracias por tu respuesta. Otra pregunta, se le puede poner el tank bait de hobie. Vivo en Oceanside y puedo comprar live bait en el harbor
How stable do you think this is compared to lighting Strike? I’m thinking about selling my lightning and getting this. Majority of my fishing is inshore and offshore. Not lakes or ponds
@@AliexFolgueira Aliex you do a good job of reporting about the kayaks but a lot of people out fish in the ocean, for me I would like to see a test in more of a rough water conditions

Excellent video.....only video that actually flips the kayak...Bravo!!!
Man you are really good at this I actually loved the part at the very end talking about taking your rod with you. lol
thanks MIKE! im gonna flip new kayaks soon, just waiting for the water to heat up
Thats why I like using my crocs when in the creek or kayaking. They float lol👍👊. Great review of the stability as always.
Indeed love the crocs sandals
Aliex, would you recommend the Salty for open water? If not, which Old Town would recommend for open water?
Thanks for this and other videos
Lol, love the way Aliex kept the one flip flop..lol..🤣🤣
I got a new pelican ! boat stay tuned I will flip it just for you

That's right it is a well made boat for sure
I couldn’t find a dealer that had any old town for me to test. So I got an hobie outback! 2021 should be getting it in December can’t wait!

My son is able to use it he is 10 and I think he is like 5
The highlight of the vid: "La chancleta!!" , so hilarious, it sounded very Cuban.
Hahaha ya tu sabes
I’m trying to decide between the salty or a shearwater as my next kayak. What do you think Alex?
I have the same question. Bigger dude (250) and not sure what to get for standing inshore. Vibe has a lot of features.
Enjoyed the review Aliex 😌 thx!
Thank you Victor it was fun to film it
I had an old (70s) Old Town canoe. You sneeze wrong and you’re going over. But if you could keep it upright it was fast
Ohh yeah canoes are not as forgiving as this yak
Es correcto después que mantegas la estabilidad y no sea algo fuera de lo común no te vas a boltear en tu kayak

How bad is the hull slap on the salty?
Aliex what kind of PFD is that / do you recommend can you do a video on what your opinion is for a good PFDS

This one or the bigwater 132 pdl for more calmer waters and more stability the 120 pdl

How is this vs Hobie compass for inshore?

Why do you always test the kayaks for stability in flat calm waters, that is not a test.
