    When you get my age, the "main goal" has switched from catching fish to just go fishing. I use to tell dad b4 he passed that I don't go fishing to catch fish. I go for the rest, calmness and mini-adventures. lol

    Wilderness nailed it with this model, I wish I could get one here but I'm overseas atm. :) For $1289. this is the best upgradable platform I've seen out there. And the kicker is, the upgrades are easy to install!

      So far I am loving it! I have only had it out on n the water twice but so far I am really loving it. I am gonna take it out again in a a couple of days. I wish I could get my hands on the pedal drive.

    I'm waiting on my wildy hd cart to arrive so I can take my recon on it's maiden voyage. You answered a ton of questions for me regarding the rail tracks.

      Awesome!!!! I’m glad I could answer some questions. That cart is a life saver man. Makes it soooooooo much easier to transport the kayak. I’ve owned a few kayaks but I’ve never owned a cart for them. I honestly can’t imagine having one now lol. Good luck on your maintenance voyage. I’ve had mine out twice so far and absolutely love it. @@markdoutdoors7965 the cart seems to be a no brainer if you want to get out on your own. I've got a Zooka 2, cup holder, a roto grip for a net and the wildy underseat pouch.

      @@dangerfield85 Definitely a no brainer. Sounds like you are ready to go. I have the Wilderness systems pouch on the back of my seat. I do have the Yak Attack Double Header roto grip but not sure I am in love with it. It works great to hold my paddle when I’m not using it but when paddling it gets in the way a little since it sits on the outside of the kayak.

      @@markdoutdoors7965 look up Yak Hobby online, they've got a mounting track that reuses the rudder control for the Recon HD. You could move that paddle or rod holder closer to you. I'm going to put the yak attack cup in that spot rather than the gear track up front.

      @@markdoutdoors7965 I love my double header on my Recon 120.I use a 270 cm bending branches and use a pretty high paddle angle.It took a few trips to get used to paddling with the double header there but once I got used to it I love my paddle being out of the way when standing or staging a couple of rods in front of me for quick access.

  • @OnlyFins
    @OnlyFins Рік тому

    A double header in the back is a perfect place for a ketch board. Swap out the roto paddle grips for roto park n pole grips, then a ketch board locks in perfectly. Nice review. I'm considering either a recon or an atak as an alternate to my coosa hd. Horizontal rod storage and internal hull storage are a big win for the recon.

    • @markdoutdoors7965

      I absolutely love the internal hull storage. I transport all my rods inside the hull when traveling.

    Been thinking about getting me a fishing kayak, only thing stopping me is the price.

  • @Beriothien007

    I am thinking about getting one. It is between this and the Ascend 12T. The Ascend has more storage for things like a tent. But the Recon has the ability to be upgraded. The Ascend 12T retails for $870 at Bass Pro while the Recon 120 retails for $1290. Which do you think I should get as someone new to kayak fishing, but experienced in kayaking.

    • @markdoutdoors7965
      @markdoutdoors7965  2 роки тому +1

      I would definitely go with the Recon. You have the ability to add the pedal drive, it’s super stable and there is plenty of storage. The rear tankwell is huge and in the front hatch the bin comes out so you can store things inside the hull.

  • @MrProfchaos71

    Would this yak be considerably more stable than a sea ghost 130 ?

    • @markdoutdoors7965
      @markdoutdoors7965  2 роки тому

      I have never paddled a Vibe Seaghost but I would imagine that the Recon is a lot more stable. The Seaghost 130 is 33.5 inches wide while the Recon is 38 inches wide. I would think the Sea Ghost is a little easier to paddle though.

    Why does everyone put the little flags on the front?

    • @markdoutdoors7965
      @markdoutdoors7965  Рік тому

      Some places it’s a law if you have over 4 ft hanging out the edge of truck you need to GM have a flag and light for night time for safety.

      @@MrCherrygrovedude haven’t had it out yet. I picked it up though. It’s a nice yak, im actually having a little buyers remorse and regretting not getting the native slayer 12.5 as it seems more well built and has a lot more features.
