2:00 I’d rather be told so I don’t keep offending someone, honestly. If I assume a grown adult is a child, I’d like to correct that behavior so I’m not patronizing to them.
I get that is it very frustrating for her but that the same time, she 100% looks like a kid. So all these people that use words as if she was a kid, like "helper", that's how most people would react if they saw a child helping out at jobs. Like it's a way that adults would "respect" kids. She can't be mad that people dont automatically assume she's 22.
When she was talking about the horrible encounters with some customers at the barista job, I felt that because I was a barista for three years and the customers will either be so shy they won’t speak to you, they’ll be the best nicest most amazing people you’ll ever meet on the planet and you’ll look forward to serving them everyday, know their names and orders etc, but there will also be the absolute rudest, most entitled, worst, most disgusting acting people as well. I experienced more than my fair share of them, but the pups and nice customers kept me from losing faith in humanity
She would definitely do better as a receptionist. She’d be able to work at a desk at her own pace by herself, and simply say “I’m actually 20 something” when someone questions her age. She shouldn’t have to, but it is a good job when it comes to networking and gaining independence with the public. It’s the one person the client sees first and must respectfully deal with to check in. Edit: I can see her current job being very dangerous despite her having pets.
i get that she is an adult and doesn’t want her size to get in the way, but the way that big dog pulled her she can actually get hurt. i know damn well i wouldn’t let a kid her size walk a dog like that..
She wants to do it and is okay with it. She is not a child. If she needed help or felt she couldn't do it, I'm sure she could ask for help. Plus, once she learns the proper way to hold the leash, it's not as big of an issue.

And I had everything from fat shaming to being told I had man hands (which was funny because my fingers are actually too small to even wear pre-sized rings at stores) and I had several men ask where a man could be found in our office (all staff was female) because women belonged in a kitchen making their husband sandwiches or as waitresses at best. 🤦🏼♀️ I mean it just never stopped. I have stories for days!!!! The amount of pride you have to swallow dealing with the gender public daily is so overwhelming and draining. I can’t imagine being a female w/ any special need or disability. I can’t imagine what she’s heard. I finally put out picture of my children (who are mixed African American) as a hope maybe it would stop the constant racism I got from customers. It didn’t do much unfortunately. It was the only rude thing that was going to set me off and make my professional mask slide off for the moment. And thankfully my co-workers understood and always backed me up. But lord I’ve been out of that place 3 glorious years and I’ll never go back to any public service position again. Our world is nuts! Lol
Exactly! It’s astounding how so many people feel that it’s ok to comment on a stranger’s appearance, especially in a negative way, or make assumptions based on appearance.
Usually when people mistaken you as a child, you can randomly say something mature and adult like to throw mindless adults off balance. For me, when I get mistaken as a child, I just play along with it. But in shauna's case she can interject and ask her clients adult questions and ask them if they know the pituitary gland health condition. Regardless how young you look, the more knowledge you sound, the more people are going to realize you are an adult. This works if you have a lot of work experience on what you are doing. Otherwise asking clients and random adult strangers adult questions will throw mindless adults off balance. Because most adults that easily label people a child don't like using their brain and don't like answering tough questions.

We need to accept that fact no matter how annoying it seems. 💕
LMAO 🤣 I am sorry but the big dog running away with her and the girl saying don't worry he is just excited! Had me laughing watching the dog taking her away lol awww
3:20 “Yup…!” Aaaand she’s gone. 😂
I really do feel for her , we’re getting to see how she tries to create her own path in the world . These shows only pay so much, and only once a year so she probably really does just genuinely need to get a job now in her life , just for stability and more structure , and she’s letting the cameras in on thst process . I really do feel for her , it’s difficult to want to be taken serious and knowing how hard it is for ppl to take you serious in almost anything that you do. She’s still in crucial formative years as a 20 year old, dealing with extraordinary circumstances and so let cameras in to film it for other peoples entertainment is brave
I feel out laughing when she said he just a little excited and she said yup 😂
Maybe not the best job for her lol I feel like that could actually be quite dangerous for her
They 100% had her work there on purpose. It makes zero sense for her to be handling large dogs. But of course they do it for the show obviously.
The big dogs are so close to her face, not good
She one hundred percent could do this job without having to deal with big dogs. They did that for the show
Y’all do realize they ask her these questions, and she answers
RIGHT?! They have no clue how production works lol
The way you hold the leash makes a huge difference I was a vet tech and on the smaller side but could always control huge dogs. They could also get her a gentle leader to use on these dogs to help her maintain control
I used to work at a daycare and some of the parents make a big deal about collars you’re using

I can understand she likes working with animals. Animals do not ask questions and do not judge.
I feel like she takes everything very personal and that everything they comment is about her size or age.
@@kaymtz4206 You know, I think most people would take it personal. Imagine you’re trying to live your life and everyone is commenting on your obvious physical differences from everyone else. She could be doing this show just for the money too… we don’t actually know.

The dog part 💀💀💀
LOL! When the dogs pull her down

I tink she's the cutest thing in the world and I hope she has a happy healthy life and flnds a wonderful person and has a family
She shouldn't make such a drama every time someone mistakes her for a young girl. Why not just say "I'm an adult, just stayed so small because of a condition" or something like that? Don't expect everyone in the world to know you and that condition.
It's a TV show, without drama it dies
@@user-ct8my8rv9c True, it needs the drama for the show.
She doesn’t though. She shares her annoyance with the camera because I’m sure the producer asked her. Plus not sure why you’re giving suggestions when you have no clue what it’s like being in her position. No adult likes being treated like a child. In her case I’m sure she expects it but it’s still annoying and she has a right to be upset.

Thank-you Shauna for telling your story and helping us viewers to uncover our biases and assumptions. Thank-you for the opportunity to challenge my normative mindset.
2:00 I’d rather be told so I don’t keep offending someone, honestly. If I assume a grown adult is a child, I’d like to correct that behavior so I’m not patronizing to them.
Shauna is the only person to have said “little” she unfortunately seems super paranoid of everything.
She's just hypersensitive to being treated like a child. Humans have flaws.
@@ashleymufasa Or it's all acting and scripted bull@@@@.
It’s implied. Come on now, it has the same meaning regardless of the word “little”.
Hey I was looking for you, common sense.
3:20 😭😭😭😭 its 2am here im trying so hard to not laugh
Despite her being small and ppl always asking & thinking less of her I think it all gonna work out just keep your head up & keep smiling bby girl
Nah a receptionist has to answer phone calls and she sounds like a child people would literally be questioning her because people are really ignorant
But why limit her,she still greets the guest and will most likely see the same people often.
@@palomah7081 Sometimes we have limitations and that’s life.
She got yeeted all over the room and into another one!
Yeah she should work at a call center lol
Why
i get that she is an adult and doesn’t want her size to get in the way, but the way that big dog pulled her she can actually get hurt. i know damn well i wouldn’t let a kid her size walk a dog like that..
She wants to do it and is okay with it. She is not a child.
If she needed help or felt she couldn't do it, I'm sure she could ask for help.
Plus, once she learns the proper way to hold the leash, it's not as big of an issue.
@@Kalani_Saiko child or not it can still be dangerous, for anyone but that dog weighs more than her. If she was walking a dog that big and he saw something he wanted he could easily pull her down & run away. That’s not hate or rude it’s just the truth.

3:25 lmfao....she damn near went horizontal through that door way....I'm dead 💀
That part killed me 🤣
I have always looked very young and it used to bother me when people treated me like I didn't know anything and I will say playing up the baby thing doesn't help. She plays into it. You really have to present yourself as the age you want to be perceived as.
Bro, she das when she talks. The problem is that people at first sight mistake her for a child (not even for a teen) and that's what bothers her. But then again you can't expect them to know...
Same. Can't take it too hard I just joke back that I pay a lot of money to keep my skin looking this young
Off the top of my head, I would be developing a clothing line specifically for little people
I looked up for clothes for little people and there aren't any companies that cater to little people
I would find a designer and I would go to China and I would have a whole line of pants, dresses, skirts, stockings, lingerie, everything else that is readily available for regular size women, but doesn't exist for little people
I am shocked no one has thought about that.
Shauna should be able to get a clothing line for people like her.
She could call it Shauna
Just like Nike, or Adidas, Shauna
She could make shoes, lots and lots of shoes.
It is such a great idea
She doesn't belong working in a kennel trying to walk dogs twice her size
And, she could be the one modeling all her clothing line
She could have her own website store
Shaunaapparel
i think shes doing that also on the side!
@boss...1 She wants clothes that aren't all sunshine, rainbows, kittens and butterflies. She is working on a more mature clothing line for little people. :)
@boss...1 on top of not

It's kinda funny seeing the dog pulling her
I can relate so much as someone trying to get back to life with chronic illnesses. People judge me based on my illness and my history and think it’s okay to ask questions or make comments they never would to an able bodied person. It definitely makes me avoid human interaction. I prefer being around kids and dogs. I work with kids with autism.
Same, I have Lyme disease and dysautonomia
totally agree on the dont pierce both sides of ears. I did that and end up taking one side out. The sleep was horrible 😂
3:13 KILLED ME😭😭 poor shauna 😩😭
No one said little. But the helper part is most likey due to her shadowing while in training. She isn't working independently and so it looks right now as if she is just helping out and learning.
when the dog yeeted her and shes still tryna be normal like "yEaaEeAAh"
You can't blame people if they don't know her. She looks and sounds like an 8 year old
did she choose that job for the sake of drama for the show? she could be anything, especially with the money she gets from this show. is she setting herself up or smth
She clearly expressed she doesn’t like working with people because they constantly disrespect her, so she’d rather work with dogs. You know, disrespect her like most her TLC viewers do smh

Anytime one chooses a job working with the public, they take a high chance of being disrespected in one way or another.
Karen's, Ken's and entitled kids everywhere in public.
A lot of females even in 2023 are still being disrespected because they are, female.
She's "choosing" to be on TV in front of the world.
Yes, more times than not disrespect comes with that sooner or later.
One episode, she and her sister go into an X-rated Adult Store for a bachelorette party & she got really disgusted because the employee checked her ID.
He checked the ID of her sister too and she's average height.
I'm sure she has difficulties because of her stature/age but I'm also sure, the show is scripted to always portray her as a disability "victim"
She receives the script beforehand & makes a lot of bank.
That's makes her, "a paid willing participant"
@@kaylafreeman2392
But working with dogs, also requires to work with people like her team and also clients who say what they want from you .
It's almost impossible not to work with humans more or less.
she cant be anything? one thing most jobs have in common is working with other people. she already has dogs so i dont understand where you got that from? if she wanted drama she could literally pick any other job.. she clearly wants to work like any other person just because shes earning money already from tlc it doesnt mean she cant be productive instead of doing nothing? the jobs that you earn the least amount of money at also tend to be with other people which like i said she clearly doesnt want to work with people.

She’s going to have to develop a thicker skin if she wants to survive this world.
And people should realize that some things are maybe better left unsaid and it’s okay to just wonder in your own head without asking out loud.
It’s easy to say that cause you’re not in her position. I can only imagine how annoying it is for her. For the most part she ignores it but shares how she feels to the camera because they ask her. I doubt she’s walking around complaining about all she has to deal with everyday.
Plenty of folks have thin skin and get along just fine.
Actually, the world has to be kinder and more understanding to people with dwarfism and other conditions.
Agree the real world is gonna eat you alive if little things like this ruin your day, week, month, year, birthday, Christmas, high school reunion.. .....
She wants people to baby her and act like she isn't the size she is but gets upset when people baby her. Good luck god speed
You honestly cannot blame others for assuming you’re a child. I understand that it is offensive, however you can’t really make them out to be the bad guy. Now if they judge you whether they know your age or not, then I believe that’s NOT OKAY.
It's gotta be hard when people think you're a child, but I wouldn't take it personally because it's just what it is. She looks like she is 10, and it's easy to misjudge.
I worked at State Farm insurance for almost 10 years and I was the face of our office and handled all incoming customers first and I was first on phone calls if not w/ a customer. I could not believe what the general public thinks is appropriate to say or ask in a professional setting!!!
I love the look on peoples faces when they assume I’m a child and I tell them I am an adult. Like don’t assume shit about someone you don’t know 😂
Usually when people mistaken you as a child, you can randomly say something mature and adult like to throw mindless adults off balance.
Right im mistaken often as a teenager but the way i be talking to people im told im like a older person or be like someone’s wise grandma lol cant guess my actual age is 26. Im also going to be a mom soon ik damn well I’ll be mistaken as my kids sister by their friends near future. Its already enough i had some mistaken me for my partner’s daughter like “is that ur daughter?” He’s 12 years older than me but i just look younger than him 😂

She’s not a kid but she sure acts like one.
No not really if you pay attention that much you'll notice she does kinda act her age
At 21 you’re just entering into true adulthood. And depending on how sheltered a person is etc that would determine maturity. But she seems from a well off family, and didn’t have to grow up quickly. Certainly acts like a 21 year old girl
Atleast that’s how I view it
she acts like her age, im 19 and i dont feel like an adult. another reply explained this better though.
She really doesn't?

She complains to much she should be grateful for life
I mean.. she looks exactly like a little girl... talks like one... Her condition is extremely rare... Of course people are going to assume this... I wouldn't look at a random 9 year old and think we'll geeze maybe she is 25... 😂🤷🤷

Personally Shauna, you’re gonna have to deal with the endless stream of queries and insults pretty much, you’re entire life. You cannot expect anyone who doesn’t know you, yo understand everything you like or don’t like to be said around you. You’re small but still a woman, a beautiful woman at that. Don’t be upset with ignorance. I’m 65 and have dealt with ignorance my whole life. It does eat at you, no doubt. It’s gonna take time for your circle to know who you are. In this kennel, these same customers will return again and again. After some time, the questions will abate. Maybe to just once in awhile. I wish I were 20+ and had the opportunity to know you. God be with you and best of luck in this job.

I totally relate to her when she says she hates the stigma that if u have a physical disability, u have an intellectual one too. I have a physical disability and used to be a job coach for adults with intellectual disabilities. When we were in public, ppl would treat me like I was a client. I always felt I had to ‘prove’ to them that I was mentally capable.
