    • @ArmednotTriggered
      @ArmednotTriggered Рік тому +33

      @@Kenya368 Her disability makes her different, but she absolutely chooses how much power it has over her. I'm in my 30s and still getting carded. She has a tantrum every single time someone asks for her ID when she's shorter than most 12 year old. She has no empathy for others, nor is she particularly inspiring. For a network that featured someone like Amy Roloff for years, I see Shauna as someone who creates more misery for herself as opposed to being inspiring. Thomas has a similar condition and he's genuinely treated as "one of the guys" by the Fire Department. They don't see him as his disability and he doesn't wear it like a badge. That's the difference. This show can be summed up in "Someone thinks Shauna is a child. Shauna whines about it. Shauna then complains how she can't do something because she's small." I really wanted to root for her, but her personality is awful.

    Personally, I believe her family is who barricades her into the ‘tough mean exterior’ box. Clearly she did it as a coping mechanism but then her family boxed her in and everything she does they have to mention it. If she acts tough they are like “there’s tough shauna who’s unemotional and hard to deal with” or if she’s emotional they are like “WOWWWW SHE HAS FEELINGS”. Clearly she’s a sweet woman and I feel like she’s being held in this box. I hope she moves out and has a independent life soon so she can experience who she is on her own without family holding her to a certain ‘type’

    It is sort of confusing when she herself is continually bringing up how small she is when others are not mentioning it. (How many dogs do you have? Oh, I have 2 dogs. They both weigh more than me and are taller than me.) and then expressing frustration when someone does make mention of her size in some way. It is just hard to believe she is as bothered about it so much, when she seemingly brings it up more often, than a lot of the people she is interacting with.

    Stuff like this is why it's good to have name tags and/or uniform shirts. It makes it much harder for people to mistake anyone for not being an employee. I realize this was her first day, but even something like a trainee badge or something. And as a manager/owner/trainer Joe could have introduced her to their clients "this is Shauna, she's joining our team and starting training today". That way the responsibility isn't on her, and there's no question that she is an employee, not a guest.

    • @breezeh1127
      @breezeh1127 Рік тому +6

      It's harder to tell because she is shadowing someone and learning the job as she goes. When she becomes more independent in the job and isn't actually learning the position and helping someone, it is less likely they will see her as a helper. They may still be confused by her age, but they will only see her at the desk doing everything on her own and won't question the helper status. You have to give people some credit. She was actually being a helper until she learns so the statement wasn't totally incorrect. Her size did make it harder to see in what way she was a helper too. Yup its frustrating but she is going to have to deal with incorrect assumptions and comments for life. She has a condition that is rare and since it is uncommon people are unfamiliar and only have their knowledge of the world to make sense of it, until it is explained. If we go around looking to be offended..we will be.

    I worked at State Farm insurance for almost 10 years and I was the face of our office and handled all incoming customers first and I was first on phone calls if not w/ a customer. I could not believe what the general public thinks is appropriate to say or ask in a professional setting!!! And I had everything from fat shaming to being told I had man hands (which was funny because my fingers are actually too small to even wear pre-sized rings at stores) and I had several men ask where a man could be found in our office (all staff was female) because women belonged in a kitchen making their husband sandwiches or as waitresses at best. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I mean it just never stopped. I have stories for days!!!! The amount of pride you have to swallow dealing with the gender public daily is so overwhelming and draining. I can’t imagine being a female w/ any special need or disability. I can’t imagine what she’s heard. I finally put out picture of my children (who are mixed African American) as a hope maybe it would stop the constant racism I got from customers. It didn’t do much unfortunately. It was the only rude thing that was going to set me off and make my professional mask slide off for the moment. And thankfully my co-workers understood and always backed me up. But lord I’ve been out of that place 3 glorious years and I’ll never go back to any public service position again. Our world is nuts! Lol

    Usually when people mistaken you as a child, you can randomly say something mature and adult like to throw mindless adults off balance. For me, when I get mistaken as a child, I just play along with it. But in shauna's case she can interject and ask her clients adult questions and ask them if they know the pituitary gland health condition. Regardless how young you look, the more knowledge you sound, the more people are going to realize you are an adult. This works if you have a lot of work experience on what you are doing. Otherwise asking clients and random adult strangers adult questions will throw mindless adults off balance. Because most adults that easily label people a child don't like using their brain and don't like answering tough questions.
