Also be aware of how NOT to play the Light Assault class: - The Light Assault is at a disadvantage in the open field. Without high areas to reach and attack from, the Light Assault loses its primary advantage over other classes; it doesn't have the ability to restore health or shields like the Medic, drop ammunition or turrets like the Engineer, stealth or snipe like the Infiltrator, use overshields or rockets like the Heavy Assault, or soak up and dish out high damage like the MAX. Be aware of the areas you're likely to be fighting in; it may be best to leave the jetpack in the locker. - Be careful about positioning when taking the high ground. Skylining- the act of showing yourself to someone with the sky visible behind you- draws attention quickly, even at night; standing at the edge of a roof and pouring fire down on enemies is going to attract unwelcome projectiles very quickly. Only show yourself as much, and as long, as you need to engage and eliminate a target, and don't be ashamed to withdraw the moment you see incoming fire. - Don't automatically go for the skies when under fire. The standard jump jets are slow to lift off, and being airborne leaves you unable to aim down sights, so rounding a corner with an enemy on your heels and trying to make it to a rooftop is likely to just get you shot in the rear. Now, my advice for playing the Light Assault: - Learn to love the suppressor. It's not perfect for every weapon or situation, certainly- but the LA has an unparalleled ability to flank and attack from unexpected angles and elevations, and being nearly inaudible to the enemy and invisible to their minimaps is a HUGE advantage. Pairing this with smoke grenades and the night-vision scope can let you down entire enemy squads without them even knowing where you are. - Never take the same route twice. The Light Assault, over every other class, can pick and choose nearly any possible attack angle. Use all the tools at your disposal to hit and run, relying on smart use of your mobility to stay out of direct confrontations when you can. I once whittled down an enemy MAX 1v1 with nothing but a carbine just by playing hide-and-seek through a building, never letting him bring his much more powerful weapons to bear on me. Have fun, shoot straight, and C4 that tank already before it blows my face off. I mean jeez, come on.
At first, I was thinking of switching to a Light Assault, as I feel more comfortable at close~medium-close range. 'cause one example is that (something that happened recently) at one time, when at a random facility, lead (at least figuratively) was flying from both sides, There was also a LA trying to snipe/take potshots from a rooftop. Now, I was a Combat Medic back then, I'd try to shoot the LA, but again, I'm not that good with long range shots. (mainly 'cause of Bullet drop AND the fact that these weapons aren't hitscan.) It wasn't working out. That made me consider trying the LA again. Basically, while the others are busy, I could use the Jetpack to take a more "unorthodox detour" and get into my more preferred range. But not long after, I realized that, as you wrote in your first tip, when in the open, it'll be harder to find any detours... or safe ways to move into flanking position. So, Infiltrator was one option, but were unsure if they're even viable for close range (with SMGs of course)
Your goal as a Light Assault is not to be where enemies don't expect you. There are plenty of vets running around that know all the hiding places already. Your goal is simply to NOT be where your enemies expect you to be. If they start expecting you to be somewhere because they Q-spotted you or just start throwing bullets your way, it's time to move.
Another really well done player guide. Thanks for putting your time into this Wrel. Hopefully the new PS4 will be able to get a better early experience thanks to these guides.
The Light Assault can also make for a great medium range assassin when equipped with the Hunter QCX. You can get places no other sniper could, hide in the shadows while an enemy force advances, and then pick off targets without giving away your position. Many players also choose these over engineers to pilot ESFs. You lose out on the chance to repair a critically damaged aircraft, but it gives you the chance to keep fighting if you know your ESF is about to go down. Drop down on a fight and rain some unexpected hell down on your enemies, or sneak up on the sky guard that had the jump on your ESF, and send it to an early c4-dug grave.
Technically, there are 2 other AV options for the LA- grenade launchers and explosive crossbows. They won't be doing the main part of your damage, but I use them when specifically targeting vehicles just to get that last hit in case my C4 doesn't do the job.
Wrel Servus, oooh I see you make official Planetside videos. Thats nice. Again a nice video of Wrel. I love you Videos. They are the best of Planetside !!! And AS always I excus me for a bad english. Im german. See you in the fight 4theNC/VS/TR
IMO you do more for your team/squad/platoon when using the supportive grenades such as flashes or smoke. They're so hardly used I don't really understand why as they can really help out with the map. Smoke becomes especially useful when paired with a soft-point, IR scope suppressed SMG.
Talking about CDL/MickeyKnox would have been better in the advice section. He introduced the drifter jump jet to the community. He actually got banned for that cos the other players thought he was cheating; they saw him flying around that's why.
can u guys lower the prices for the helmets like 999 really :( atleast lower them to like 599 like the others or can u put certs prices on the helmets please, planetside gamers will love that and will thank you for it
id rather have high graphics with 60fps instead of ultra with 30fps i need a reason to stop my BF4 addiction and get a PS2 addiction going again PS2 on my pc stopped working after hossin update sadly ive been waiting a long time on my ps4 and now i cant get in the beta cuz im from europe
Maybe you should post videos how to abuse client lag and drive in front of enemies to kill them. Get your shit together. It's ridiculous how these old bugs transferred to H1Z1 which you didn't fix.
This game is dying and you upload this? You know more people are uninstalling this game and prefers other better games.I see you didnt open your eyes to watch how terrible and repeated is this game

Way to go Wrel! You have always been the best PS2 YT channel out there and I'm so happy to see you on the offical PS2 channel. Well deserved friend!
Another really well done player guide. Thanks for putting your time into this Wrel. Hopefully the new PS4 will be able to get a better early experience thanks to these guides.
Man, if this video was held off a couple more weeks there would be a third jetpack option to discuss.
This video was done more than three months ago :'(
Wrel Oh wow, yeah, sounds like it was around the time Maggie left.
Is Wrel working for planetside now?
Plant Gollum They contracted me to revamp the new-player tutorial videos.
Wrel aw ok

Great video Wrel, as always. Keep your good work.
Nicely done, Wrel. Many thanks.
The world is your perch with Light Assault. Avoid toe to toe fights. Pick your engagements above your opponents line of sight.
Looks like the dev team is communicating more with the players. Good job.

You need to add an in game tutorial, I should not have had to get off the game and look up what exactly im supposed to do
They are working on it, it's already on PTS.
WREL I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WORKED WITH PLANETSIDE 2, I JUST THOUGHT YTOU HAD YOUR OWN CHANNEL AND GIVING US INFORMATION!!!
Lol at the epic grenade throw at 5:24
*note that there are three types of jump jets, the Icarus jump jets go almost straight up, oppitsite of drifter
Thanks, Hakon. The one thing that makes a good squad leader is being separated from your squad.
Wrel Servus, oooh I see you make official Planetside videos. Thats nice. Again a nice video of Wrel.

Wrel got to cast the episode, nice :)
Love the intro Class!
Now that I have finished basic training I am ready to join the mobile infantry!
What if you make Advanced Training videos too? talking about the stuff you can buy and in wich situations it works
Not bad, Iridar approves this.
Will you make one for the infiltrators next? I've noticed that lots of people trying to play it, but are having a rough time.
Nice vid!

Drifter jump jets max upgraded look absolutely amazing with c4 you can drift so friken far maaan.....but idk if I want to spec my engineer first..
Wow, thanks, I'm sure that these will help me kick some serious A now.
I need some advice which SMG to unlock for the TR light assault, what are your opinions guys?
You should able to watch these in-game somehow, now most of the viewers are probably ps2 veterans from reddit.
Cool a new Video. But it is originaly from Wrel. But hopfully many People will watch and learn from it.
My ps 2 client crashes when I try to load into a map my PC meets requirements but it always crashes any help?
I'm confused why is it "Sony Online Entertainment Game," I thought it was DGC?
Bring back the Icarus jumpjets!!!!
yep, they are coming back, they're on test :D
camycamera And they are AWEEEEESOOOOME!
They are going to bring them back in the next update, so you can stop whining.
Whats that?
Erik Feldengut Jump jets that have a very short fuel supply but make you jump very fast.
Still Alive!!!
All the potential ps4 players should definitely watch these
Hey what's your config
There is no linked video in the description :/
I'll prod someone about that later today.
you should link to a discussion on reddit as you do on your own channel
This video is meant for new players, they don't want them to see our whiny toxic posts on reddit.
I can't wait for PS4 launch
Sign up on there website. You might get a beta code
Nope. I signed up almost a year ago. Still no code.
I signed up in November and didnt get 1
Dillon Orto The fuck do you mean. I signed up in January 2014 and then December 2014 and got my code 2/9/15?
True Dot I mean that I did not get a code
Good video, but I think the class needs something more to increase its teamwork potential.
Wrel, does this mean that you got some influence on the devs. now?
its ok that this video is old, but linking this in the launcher even though its totally outdated is kinda weird
sony did better
WREL! :D
YES IT WAS FOR PS4 LAUNCH AND YET FUCKING NOTHING, PLEEAASEE GIVE US SOMO INFO FOR THE RELEASE DATE
Cant wait for the the code for beta on ps4
To all us Brits who don't have the beta I cry with you I am one of you
I got one today :D
coming to xbox soon?
Enjoy your "exclusive" titles. An anti-consumer contract between developer and platform prevents you playing great games across all platforms.
zaqwsx28 Well SOE (now DGC) is not owned by Sony anymore, and the new owners are not going to try to control development, so maybe.
HAL17 yeah right now it is a 50-50 shot of it getting into X1
They want to bring it to X1, but it isn't that easy and it will take some time.
LordMcZee i been patient to hear it coming to Xbox One, i will continue to be patient to play it.
can u guys lower the prices for the helmets like 999 really :( atleast lower them to like 599 like the others or can u put certs prices on the helmets please, planetside gamers will love that and will thank you for it

I want a beta code sooooooooo bad I'll shave my head if I get one .
the game is out already wtf r u talking about
Not on ps4
give me a Ps4 beta code please wrel
I hate the fact you didn't add an anti infiltrator item. Ie a way of hiding peoples from recon.
Bring Back Friday Night Ops!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe you should post videos how to abuse client lag and drive in front of enemies to kill them. Get your shit together. It's ridiculous how these old bugs transferred to H1Z1 which you didn't fix.
Lag isn't bug, you can't fix it.
You guys are taking way to long for the ps4, unsubscribed...
The beta is out for a longtime u obviously didn't get a code
sasukeadejoh1
Not in Europe it isn´t.
sjmzeldaavgnfan
Coming soon™, along with a relatively complete version of the game. Beta has been a bit of a buggy mess so far.
doom bro of course it has, im quite surprised they were able to fit so many controls on the ps4 pad though.
doom bro
Cool, I cant wait.
