- Queen Isabel of Spain and her husband, King Fernando, achieved the remarkable conquest of Granada as the medieval era gave way to the modern. At the close of the fifteenth century, Fernando II, King of Aragon, and his wife, Isabel, Queen of Castile and León, waged a decade's long war to subdue the Emirate of Granada. Medieval Spain and Portugal are just so beautifully rich! And I don't just mean monetarily rich by a long shot, but rather rich culturally. The music, the painting, the weapons, the erudition... It's all flipping gorgeous! What I would give to have witnessed the fall of Granada!

Objectively speaking, without the muslims in Iberia and their immeasurable contribution to science, arts, creativity, innovations..etc The Castillians, Leonese, Asturleonese, Basque..etc would still be in the dark ages. Regardless of the long conflict between the muslims and inhabitants of Iberia (First Visigoths, then the rest..), to relish at the fall of Granada and only praise the Spanish and Portuguese is borderline ignorant. Even the most famous ruler of Castille Leon, Isabella was in awe of all the contributions made by the muslims, and guess where she insisted on being buried..

These men are amazing but the women the queens are so stout. Whoever said that Christian women were abused or had no power have no understanding of history. This is the real History channel. Amazing work thanks for sharing
Not to mention that the visigothic laws were in use for much of the Christian successor states in Iberia, which was one of the most progressive laws in Europe ever, which granted rights to women. These laws would eventually form into the basis of Spanish law and pretty much laws through Western Europe.
Isabella of Castile was a remarkable queen who defended her nation from foreign & local enemies.
Sadly, not all her decrees were accomplished by her subjects. She called that Indigenous people were treated as equals, but they did the opposite.
To be fair, she had questionable traits. She did abuse her daughter Joanna because of her 'scepticism'

Altought the Medieval 1212 mod cover from the 13th to the 15th centuries there are other mods from other expansion packs that can cover other time periods, like the reconquista.

Also I had a question related to the reconquista, wasn't there this Spanish king before Isabela and Ferdinand who rode his horse on the beach of Cadiz or Gibraltar I can't remember proclaiming that Spain would be reconquered one day.

From their letters and observers they loved and respected each other. You don't get what they had without it, it was quite special really.
I'm interested in the topic but I find it disconcerting 2 have 2 go through so many very very short vids with breaks in between. I just think it would serve ur purposes better if the usual format of 44 min were 2 b followed at least 2 ensure continuity. But after all what do I know?
