    Great video. My wife bought me one of these after Thanksgiving, after my 15 year old electric fryer died.
    Done three turkeys so far...all juicy and superior to my old fryer.
    Saw your video...Great tips and tricks I hadn't considered.
    Thank you 😊

    I’ve deep fried turkeys for over 20 years for Thanksgiving but decided to roll the dice with the Big Easy. This year we hosted for 16. I asked a guest to bring an oven baked “safety” bird. The Big Easy surpassed all expectations. The safety bird went uneaten and I’ll never deep fry again.

    • @HowtowithPaulHenderson

      That's awesome, I know it takes a little bit longer and then Big Easy than it does in a oil fryer but virtually no mess to clean up.

      This is the comment I was looking for. I have only been deep frying our turkey for the last couple of years. Then a co-worker told me about this option. I ordered one just now from Lowe's for $99 on sale. I'm happy to see the flavor is still there vs deep frying.

      @@BrentCorbin-gf8hx I don't recall the exact number of turkeys I cooked in this fryer over the years. I know it has to be over a dozen and out of all those turkeys only one didn't turn out, and that was because it wasn't thoroughly thawed out. I bought the complete accessory package for this unit if I cooked ribs in it not long ago and they turned out awesome I also did some shish kabobs and I plan on doing a video on that they turned out awesome too. And there's no chance of catching the house on fire or yourself.

    I'm sold on the Big Easy! Bought my first one 2 yrs. ago, cooked moose roasts, pork tenderloins, ribs, chickens and turkeys in it, everything turned out great. Last year I bought another one for hunting camp and this year sent one down to our winter home in Mazatlan.

      I do like stove top but, I'll make my mom's stuffing that she would make for turkey dinners every year.
      Her recipe is:
      You make a bowl of mashed potatoes as you normally would and let cool a bit.
      Cut up a small stalk of celery.
      Dice up a medium yellow onion.
      Toast a cheap loaf of white bread and cut that into cubes.
      Dump everything into the bowl mash potatoes and mix it all together.
      Some people think it sound gross but trust me it tastes great.

    Thanks Paul for posting this. For about 8 years now I have always deep fried our turkeys. Today we saw this oil less fryer come up on sale on Amazon for 99.00. The clean up from deep frying has always been time consuming and I always felt guilty disposing of the oil after one use, plus peanut oil is expensive. Watching your video made us feel that we made a good choice with this purchase and we can’t wait to see the results from it this Thanksgiving.

    • @HowtowithPaulHenderson
      @HowtowithPaulHenderson  2 роки тому

      Yeah you're right to clean up is very easy. Nothing will really get on the sides of the cooking pot but some chunks will settle down on the bottom of the pot just use a plastic paint scraper and scrape it off, everything else drains into the catch pan.

  • @vega382
    @vega382 Рік тому

    Do you have to use that basket. The one you drop it in with. Can I just use the one we use in a oil fryer. Would just seem easier to use the fork from the oil fryer instead of that basket.

    • @HowtowithPaulHenderson
      @HowtowithPaulHenderson  Рік тому

      I don't know what the oil fryer one looks like, but the open end of the turkey has to face downward so the juices inside can drip out. Basket also keeps it in the center of a cooking pot and keeps the legs spread, but If you can do that and keep it in the center and off the bottom of the cooking pot I don't see why not. I can't hurt to try.

    Alright, I got to finish your video that you posted on the Facebook page about my burned one. 🥲. That bird of yours was beautiful. The Big Easy does a great job very close to what a real deep fried turkey is like.
    The Big Easy is convenient and economical I use mine frequently and about once a month all year long to cook turkeys. I also smoke at least one turkey a month, and actual deep fry in real oil right or nine turkeys a year. I have deep fried turkeys since Clinton was president. I have never once had a fire like you have shown here.

      That's what everyone tells me. I just cooked another turkey I did cut the thigh meat off so I'll give that a shot see if I like it.
      I'm a breast kind of guy, But I'll give the thigh meat a chance.

      I sure can, it was too hot to cut the correct way. After the filming of the video, I did go back to the turkey and trim of the rest of the white meat from the bird. I had turkey for 8 days and I had it for breakfast and dinner or lunch every single day until it was gone. I just bought another 15lb Butterball to cook on Monday the 21st. I do love turkey....
