Stihl 462 vs Husqvarna 572 vs Stock 660

A session from this winter, although it snowed in town yesterday.....
So in the on going saga of R & D, I fitted a larger air filter to the 462 trying to get more out of it. But also, I applied the "Got Flow" concept to the 572 and it came around a little bit more.
I timed 30 seconds for the 462 @ 72.20cc & rated at 6.0hp stock.
29 seconds for the 572 @ 70.57cc & rated at 5.7hp stock.
29 seconds for the stock, 5/6 hour 660 @ 91.61cc rated at 7.0hp.
With the 462 giving up 19.41cc and running a second slower than the stock 660. The 572 gives up 21.04cc and runs pretty much even with the stock 660.
Overall, I am well pleased with the showing of the "little saws that could" since they are giving up ~ 20cc of displacement and are running with the "big dog".

I went with the 572xp. The dealer by me is 10x better than my local stihl dealer. But I liked them both. Great quality, and built to last. I still like my 441c too.
You're lucky. Every husky dealer here has closed (by husqvarna) and has eventually been replaced by stihl....and they're selling!! Lots!!!!! Full husky outfits had to change over to stihl... By necessity.
A second for 3 pounds?!? That should be a 20cc difference, but the power is comparable.
Remember when the 372xp vs the 372xpw was all the forums screamed about.... What the heck??? How is this even a comparison?!?!?!

The MS462 is a 70cc saw that weighs less than a 60cc saw with very healthy 75cc power!!??
That's 390 vs 372 weight difference with essentially the same power.
The difference between the stihl 462 (72cc) and the husqvarna 562 (60cc) is within ounces...and a full horse of difference.
Ounces and chain speed was the HUGE comparison between the 346(50cc) and 026(50cc).....or the 044 (72cc) vs the 371 (72cc)....
Now...... It doesn't matter?!? POUNDS!!!!...?
If that's the case, why not just run a 2100 or 088 and giggle when your back hurts after 41hours a week. Because, POWER!!! And fractions of board feet a week?

Nothing against you, hotsaw. Just disappointment with sweden. Germany stomped them with the 462. Plain and simple. Sales, power to weight, and consistent dealer support.
Where's Husqvarna? Even sweden runs stihls....

Well after packing around 66 for the prime of my life I really like 462 now of course it wont cut with 66 but its like carrying around Luke Skywalkers light saber .

I like your videos. Good ol boy that gets out there and uses his saws not these guys who buy brand new pro saws with more money than sense that only use them in their backyard or garage for views
a tip : you can watch movies at kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.

I don't think there is enough hype on this channel for this day and age. I try and let my work speak for itself - whether felling timber or "adjusting" the way saws run.

I've noticed the chain always seems tighter on the stihl. Stops quicker than the husky
Statistically inaccurate.
There is a 50/50 chance the Husky chain will be more snug.
I show the tightening process regularly. If I was doing something nefarious then it would be well known.
I am curious about the outcomes myself. I'm not going to intentionally slant it.
Read: I am doing my best to get both (thrice) saws set up as even as possible.
Also, I generally use the same bar & chain. Unlike some of the others out there...

That log is frozen solid. How cold does it get there?
Jeff hi. It starts getting cold in late October early November it seems. Stays cold until mid March. Although this year it was snowing (and hard at times) on and off for the first ten days of April. Maybe 20/25 below in the worst winters for the lows. Maybe just zero in the mild winters. There might be some Chinook winds roll through in the middle and warm the temps up occasionally also.
It snowed last Thursday but did not stick.

If you keep showing these videos like this everybody's going to want a 572.
I find that the 462 bogs under load, fuel-thirsty, and I have trouble keeping the chain tight maybe it's the Australian hardwood.
for a 72cc its a couple of pound liter starts up nice, love the carby air cleaner.

34mm stroke. It's definitely designed to be a high winder as opposed to a torque type machine. They are lacking in the bottomend department as far as I'm concerned.
Loose chain can be a multitude of items. Chattery chains will sag pretty quickly. Under oiled ones will too.
Sometimes chain will just stretch. Seen where a guy will get a bad batch and cannot keep them tight. Other times they hardly stretch at all.

daniheres hi. I run ~ 48/50:1 concentration wise. It will vary a little based on the amount of boost added if that is a consideration and just how accurate the measuring part goes. I am unclear on the "which to Husqvarna" though. Thanks for watching.

Eric Wyke Yes it does. Search for Dechsi’s channel on here to get a more comprehensive comparison between these two saws. He’s ported both of them too.
Stock the 462 will beat the 572 with smaller bars on both but with longer bars the 572 will beat the 462
Eric hi. Bethany has it right to a degree. IF they both have a 32" bar let's say, the times are relatively close. But the 572 exhibits a little more bottomend if you were to apply pressure to the handles. That's impossible to feel through the monitor. I never ran either with a 20" bar personally since those are far to short for anything I'm doing.
I would suspect that with a short bar like that, you would see the 462 edging out the 572.
In zipped form, I like the 572 pretty well with a 33" - 110 drivers .375 - but I don't like the 462 with that setup. I conjured up an Oregon lw 30" to run on the 462. That setup I do like.

Love these test sessions. I run a husky 2013 husky 576 xp Auto tune. Would like your recommendations to pep it up without spending too much money. Typically run a Oregon powermatch 24" bar. Thanks from Michigan--be safe out there.
Just got 572. I typically use 576 and 390 husky. Northwest wisconsin Spooner area hardwood logging.I dont port my saws, not because i am afraid but because i dont have anyone around to do it. So far the 572 is a winner. It is going to surpass my 576 in speed and torque and it isnt broke in yet. I just hope it is as durable as the others.
@@austindenotter19my 576 hasn't missed a best , we cut all hardwoods in Michigan, I like it with full comp chain on 24/28" bars
@@andyd9199 I did modify my non auto tune carburetor so I can adjust it myself without having a fancy tool and gave it the fuel that it needed to run correctly and I also reshaped the interior of the muffler so that it would flow better. that little bit of work really brought the 576 to life.
