MS500i vs MS462 vs 572xp vs PS7910 (all stock)

  • The new fuel injected (first ever) MS500i has some impressive stats on paper, 6.8hp/5kw with 79.2cc by only 6.2kg/13.6lbs powerhead weight. A lightweight powerhouse! I wanted to see how the saw keeps up against some comparable contenders. (Also, check out my test against some ported saw's. ) Now it's finally time to squeeze a bit more out of the 500i ;)

      Absolutely. Although I usually let them warm up for a minute or so, especially when it’s cold. Just like to have everything get up to temp before working my tools hard. A minute is no time at all and falls into the whole “ounce of prevention” deal.

    I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

    Well deserved likes and views on this one. While other reviews rave about how great the 500i is due to being newest, FI, etc. we have a real test here. Not one word spoken or unnecessary fluff, just straight up test and results. It really does help some of us answer the question, "what is [best] for me?"

It's only had a muffler model done to it,but I cant see the fuel injected saw have any real advantages over the mtronic saws as far as reliability, so unless theres significant fuel savings I'll stick with carburetors. My only complaint about my 441 is the weight, but that's probably got more to do with my aging than it does the saw

    What were the stats on that stihl That won? Didnt think you had the rpms up on the dolmar! I'm a husky guy but I'm pretty sure that dolmar shoulda walked all over them

      Dolmar comes heavily restricted from factory. A ported Dolmar against a ported anything on same cc will bury them.Huge difference.

      Listerr looks promising , the tests I’ve seen they run the saw with zero maintenance and were instructed to abuse them... just oil and fuel and let her rip

    The 462’s are game changer for stihl never mind the 500i that sounds like an oleomac.

    That stock dolmar 7910 seemed slow, yet that 462 was faster🤔? Kinda strange, How much run time is on them?

    • @Dechsi87
      @Dechsi87  4 роки тому +3

      500i has 6-8 tanks. The Dolmar was about a year in use. The 462 is from 2018. In my other video the ported 7900 and the 681 spanked the 500i

    • @Dolmar-Rick
      @Dolmar-Rick 4 роки тому +1

      @@Dechsi87 I guess you would expect that, but can you do any work to the 500i? Will you be limited by electronics? Didn't think a stock 462 was that much faster than 7910, not from what I've seen on here(youtube)🤔. What about a stock 7900?

    • @bryantitus6634
      @bryantitus6634 4 роки тому +4

      Ill second that this seems to be the weakest 7910 I've seen. I'm not saying it should run faster than the 500i, 572, or 462, but every other one I've seen will at least run WITH them. The only thing I took from it is that the chain actually looked kinda tight on the 7910 at the end of the video, maybe it wasn't oiling quite right?

    Great video but I don't think it will ever make it as a logging saw due to how complicated it would be to have to rebuild. I've not tried any of the new stihls but I know my 460 mag will never get replaced.

      I did not ;) but you can use an adapter to make it fit 😉

      Also your bar might be worn more on one sided. Just needs to be ground straight again. That's the most likely.
