  • The individual approach during training consists of establishing whether a K9 is suited for a particular type of job, assigning it to a trainer, selecting the method and means of using stimuli, determining the specific procedures and method of working on training techniques, taking into account the type of nervous activity, dominant behavioral reaction, age, sex, extent of puppy training, and degree of readiness.
K9s 4 American is a non-profit company that helps provide service dogs to veterans and law enforcement.
    Our Mission
We enhance the safety and improve the health of American communities by providing highly trained canines to law enforcement, veterans and schools. Specifically, K9s 4 America will:
Enhance the safety of our communities by providing MWD K9s that are highly trained for protection and detection to law enforcement agencies and first responders.
Provide renewed independence and enhanced quality of life for American veterans through the donation of specially trained MWD K9 service dogs.
Secure the safety of our communities by introducing specifically trained MWD K9s for the protection of children, teachers and other employees in our schools.
K9s 4 America has a deep passion and strong commitment for fundraising to support the donation of specially trained dogs to help law enforcement agencies, American veterans and schools in our communities. We want to ensure the vitality of K9 programs in local law enforcement agencies to help reduce the use of illegal drugs and other crimes in our communities.
K9s 4 America is dedicated to improving the health of American veterans who have served our country. Our donation of trained companion dogs will provide renewed independence and enhanced quality of life for veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). By helping veterans heal, we can improve their mental health and reduce the rate of suicide among this honorable population.
As America experiences a drastic increase in gun violence in our schools, K9s 4 America is uniquely positioned to be a pioneer for the use of specially trained canines to help detect illegal drugs, weapons and explosives in our schools. Through our donations we hope to expand the use of canines to protect our children and enhance the overall safety of American schools.

The MWD method began with my journey to St. Petersburg Russia in 2012. There I began studying K9 training at the Royal Dog Academy under the direction of Maxim Basyro. Upon my return to the U.S. I spent the next 10 years developing dogs, studying DNA, neuron activity, and connectivity of the central nervous system. MWD K9 was founded in 2012 in order to develop the best possible training methods for K9 and humans. Now based in Columbus, Ohio, this UA-cam Channel is our way of sharing what we've learned with you.
** ATTENTION** much of the training content is the wonderful and brilliant work of Mister Maxim Basyro. In 1996, from the youthful enthusiasm of dog training, followed by the practical experience of instructor-cynologist training of service dogs and the personnel learning of cynological units from the frontier troops, an impulse was created within Basyro to create the first cynological center - “Ronald” in St. Petersburg. It was within the Ronald Cynological Center that Basyro began working on creating programs and techniques that later became the theoretical framework for all the educational and training process within the larger organizational framework of the Federation of Military Canines. Now, 25 years after the first steps in the path of professional cynology - this framework has been expanded many times. In 2016, in St. Petersburg, the fifth center of the Federation was opened with a full range of specialized cynological services, and has already begun expanding significantly within the borders of the Leningrad region. The practical cynological services of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation is organically combined, as well as Maxim Basyro’s own methods for training both dogs and their handlers. With more than 25-years’ experience in the field of practical cynology, Basyro founded the Public Federation of Military Canines to best train dogs. www.masterdog-training.com

Oh my gosh this video is so COZY. I love the music and the fire and just wow. I love what you're saying about how any dog can be a working dog. I've always tried to give every dog I've had a "job" or its own "hobby". They are so much happier for it and I enjoy spending that time with my dog too.
I'm doing some scentwork training with my new puppy, focusing on sniffing out antler shed in the spring. I've never really cared much about finding antlers in the woods but I picked it for my puppy based on what he seems most drawn to. Seeing him light up when I initiate this activity is just everything to me.
Thanks for the info and I have subscribed! I look forward to more.

Hi Ryan, thanks for all your videos. I’ll be watch out for more as you post. I took on a two year old rescue female German shepherd approximately one year ago that had no training to speak of. She has spent this last year settling in with us and now feels like she is at home here. I have ‘tried’ my best to instil some basic training into her with varying degrees of success. I would like this year to be a turning point for her and I’m committed to spending whatever time is needed each day to address her training needs. She will sit on command, down on command and walk to heel on command however, her recall is a bit sketchy. She will come to me okay when there are no distractions but if there’s another dog around she would (if allowed) run over to it. Could you consider making a video that addresses how to approach training a rescue dog like mine - especially distraction training? Thanks for the videos. 👍🏻🙂

Hello Jon, perfect question. K9s 4 America will be releasing, "Training Dogs with Various Dominant Behavioral Reactions" within the next few weeks. This video is a 101 and will begin to walk you through your question of how to help rescue K9s. Hopefully we are able to answer your question soon. The good news is, yes you will be able to help you buddy. K9s 4 America will also create a video to specifically address your question. Thank you for the interaction and stay tuned.

Thank you for a great video. Would the next step be to analyse the pet owner too?
So that it becomes a perfect match :D I see many people getting a mismatched dog, due to the fact that they like a certain look.
What is the 'actual' energy level the owner brings to the mix. Not what they wish they could bring, not what they were able to bring 15 years ago, but right now.
Furthermore, what focus, timing, discipline and follow through are they able to muster up for themselves to set up a daily training routine and stick to it. That seems to be a challenge.

Another fantastic question. Hopefully we are able to address your question in our future episodes. A quick response would be, the pet owner must be analyzed and diagnosed. Based on the human temperament would dictate the most suitable K9 temperament for the human and what training method should be applied. The K9 feeds off of the human energy and the human feeds off of the K9's energy. The goal is to achieve balance between the two organisms. Once balance is created then learning may begin. Consistency in teaching and coaching is the biggest challenge. K9s 4 America will attempt to show how we manage to navigate such challenges.

It sounds like you're trying to reinvent the wheel with all these terms like "choleric", "sanguine", etc. Do you ever get it wrong as sometimes the puppy may show a certain set of characteristics that changes and instead of doing ring sports it was chosen for it ends up dock diving for example. Maybe your choleric dog is ball driven instead of food driven, I feel confirmation bias will also have a part in this personality "diagnosis".

      Fantastic question Cheryl.
Characteristics that change? The 4 Tempers do not change as they are innate. This is the 50% that I talk about that we can do nothing about but the other 50% we can shape and mold. Do we get it wrong? K9s 4 America has embraced the MWD system of development that if implemented correctly will achieve a high level of success. In temperament diagnosing dogs, K9s 4 America has been working with DNA analysis. The goal is to use science to uncover any evidence that supports the philosophy of the 4 Tempers.
Ring sport or dock diving? These are as you say just sports/games for the dog to play. As hockey or football is to humans. Children play many different sports so can young dogs. Why can't the K9 do ring and dock diving? Yes, eventually the dog will become better in one or the other but it is impossible to uncover that in their early development and the trainer or coach hasn't had enough time to develop the 4 elements. (cognitive, physical, bio mechanics, tactical) at the age of 30months now your K9 will tell you what sport is best for them. I would encourage trainers and coaches to teach and play multiple sports/games with their puppy/child.
Ball driven instead of food driven? These are two different levels of stimulation/payment. Food is a low level stimulation that's used to keep the K9s neurons in a low out-put. A ball/toy payment is a higher level of stimulation that creates higher neuron mobility. Depending on each K9 they will show different levels of excitation in regards to toys/equipment. A ball could have a stimulus level of a 5 with one K9 and a stimulus level of 8 with another K9. Low level skills with a puppy and young dogs are taught with food as it keeps the organisms (CNS) central nervous system balanced for the K9 to learn. Mid to high level skills are taught with a plethora of different toys/equipment as they create different levels of excitation within the brain of the K9/human.
Confirmation bias? What is my objective and how do I achieve it with my K9/human? There is no one size fits all approach in developing an organism. What works for you might not work for another. K9s 4 America is going to show how every puppy/child can be developed to perform a job. Some jobs can and will be performed at different levels. we're here to show the audience how to do that. K9s 4 America can't cover decades of work in a few 8 minute videos but over time the story will begin to take shape as we show and tell the MWD system and how to deploy it in developing the young puppy/child.
Thank you for creating and engaging in the conversation with K9s 4 America. I hope you continue to watch as we are just getting started. We will be releasing 2 videos a week. K9s 4 America will also be bringing in -depth interviews with experts and sharing stories of how the MWD system has created success when they were told it can not be done.

Sounds very interesting. I am someone who likes to learn about the science of training as well as different techniques. I first learned about behaviour science after I adopted parrots. It was a total game changer when working with them. I have been surprised how many dog trainers scoff at behaviour science especially when it appears a lot they do fits well within what I have learned. Would you state your opinion? Thank-you
Re: the above person’s comment regarding change in motivation. My pup was originally food motivated. It was not until he was about 4 or 5 months that he became very ball orientated. He is now 8/9 months. At this point, he will not exchange a ball for food until he is ready. He will exchange for another ball. I wonder if this was what the above person was thinking? I was looking for the personalities video when this came up. Apologies if this is explained there….when I get sidetracked my brother says “squirrel”! Lol
