I watched another video somewhere that ghosts, or beings who are stuck between the living realm and the spirit realm can bring the overall vibration of earth down (not sure how true this is but it seemed to resonate at the time). It was suggested that we can ask for our guides, or other beings to help move those who are stuck in the in-between realm during our prayers, which I have been doing. I hope it’s working. I also heard that those who ‘pine’ for the recently deceased also hold the spirit back from transitioning and moving back into the spirit realm, is this true?
We keep spirits tethered here. The dead no longer have sufficient energy. Being without form and absent any of the normal, daily, physical practices, spirits eventually forget themselves and dissipate.

As more as I dive into perspectives from different cultures, I realize that teachings and views of phenomena converge in their essence and complement each other. Here in Brazil there are many followers of Kardecist Spiritism, which explains an a lot of details of the body, perispirit, the connections between them and the soul. The attachments, as you mentioned, make perispirit (which resembles the body) fight to let go things of these plain. Evolved souls from other plains (gurus or spiritual mentors as called in Spiritism) descend to help the person to let things go. Many mediuns can comunicate with theses souls through psychographed letters. There is an evolved soul called Ramatis (books written by him through a medium called Hercilio Maez) which describes in detail all the processo of attachments and spirtis interfering in the physical plain, including the ones that tap energy produced from desires, addictions and other unadvisable behaviour. The internet is absolutely amazing for us to share religious views and traditions and, above all, conclude that all of them preach love, benevolence towards all, indulgence towards the imperfections of our brothers , forgiveness, self control of desires, control of the ego and meditation. It struck me how Ben´s view on the subject is absolutely in tune with all the teachings that I came across through the literature of Spiritism, that is very present in the Brazilian culture. Having said that, a good book to begin with and to dive deeper is The Spirits´ Book written by a Allan Kardec. It´s a question and answer book in a form dialogue between mediums and some evolved souls shedding some light (includes Saint Augustine) on different topics such as moral, ethics and life after death. Another very good book that explains the process on how the perispirit and the soul leaves the body is called "Elucidações do Além", which would translate into something like Elucidations from beyond. The book is written by a Spirit called Ramatis, psichographed by Hercilio Maez. He also presents a detailed explanation on the chakras and the etheric double, which is what connects our perispirit to our body. Thank you - but does mean that people who hoard great wealth and power are more likely to remain stuck as a ghost due them not wanting to relinquish that power and wealth (you demonstrated with someone that died who remained due to the love of his girlfriend) but does this also translate into those who wish to cling on to their material possessions? If so - it's probably better to be poor and powerless as the desire to remain earthbound would be considerably less.
Wait-is it possible that we won’t see our loved ones on the other side? I lost my soul dog a year ago, and the only comfort I have is the belief that she will be the one to greet me and walk me into the next life.
Your dogs consciousness is still alive, but of course the body have died. I lost my dog a few weeks ago, and it gives me some comfort to know her consciousness lives on. 😊
wouldn’t this mean that almost everyone becomes a ghost though? because surely most of the population who we wouldn’t consider spiritually awakened are very much attached to this 3d realm to partners, family etc
You would think so wouldn't you! There are degrees of attachment and we are talking about the extreme end of things that cause a soul to become stuck. Many souls may be stuck for a very short time and then move on, whilst in other cases they'll stay for may years. There are various factors involved.
Bare in mind that this is an opinion not a fact. No one can really prove where we go when we die. Everyone will have differnt beliefs. Not one teacher or seeker knows the whole truth. Its impossible. I hope this brings you reassurance and anyone else that now worries they may become trapped! It's simply not a fact.
When you experience what many call ‘home’ you don’t want to come back. Some maybe die suddenly and don’t experience ‘home’? I haven’t died but I have experienced ‘home’

Would a soulmate wait then they transition together, are they together in every lifetime, I've learned you can a parent, lover, child etc but are you those things in any lives as soulmates or are you always lovers? Sorry for the blast there, I'm new to all this and really realising I need to meditate to 'meet' my spirit guides.
Time is not linear outside the physical world, so decades here can mean nothing. Soulmates are not really meant to meet all the time because there are all kinds of perspectives to learn that a mate can be a hindrance for.
They would come together due to the law of attraction. Everything is thought based on the Astral, so if they wanted each other, they would find themselves together. If one has already reincarnated, then of course it wouldn't be possible.
@@bensmithreal I think my dreams take place in the ethereal. Lots of random dreams of areas that are familiar to me but obviously not the same, they shift there are characters that I know and also that I don't want to know or see. Situations that don't make much sense and it is annoying. Is that being a ghost? I never to my knowledge dream in the astral and I don't wan t to be trapped in the ethereal or whereever I am dreaming.

You go to sleep every night and many nights, you dream. You completely leave consciousness. How do you know what you have experienced? Your mind is limited. I don’t mean “you”…I mean “the mind” in general. My point: there’s no such thing as 100% certain ….of anything.
Learn how to astral project and then you won’t doubt. Nothing more liberating than knowing for certain that you are more than just this meat suit. Separately, learn to be a hypnotherapist and speak to them yourselves. These two actions validated it all for me. I have had conversations with many spirits and channeled them myself. What Ben doesn’t expand on here is that ghosts can become energetically attached to us and start affecting our own thoughts and emotions. This is why it can be really beneficial to routinely clear your body of energetic hitchhikers, as most spirits that do not pass over are not in a good mental or emotional state. A traumatic death is always one way that they fail to pass over properly. The other being a strong attachment to a person, place or possessions. Lastly, those that are addicted to drugs or alcohol will find it harder to leave this world behind.

It would certainly aid in creating more attachment, yes. It's partially a reason that saints and such people live with very little.
