There's something indescribable and really unique about him which is involuntarily hilarious...can't put my finger on it, which makes it so intriguing and clever!
I listen to and have heard lots of radio comedy over the years. I'm 67yo and am au fait with whatever has been broadcast over those years. The Count, imo is the best of them all. The Count is Steve Delaneys creation, written and performed by. Tell me anyone else that has done this. Not Hancock, not Steptoe, not Alf Garnett, Rod and Del Boy etc. All absolutely brilliant, historical stuff. But wtitten by someone else and performed by another. Arthur is unique and utterly amazing and should be acknowledged as such in the annuls of radio comedy.
BRILLIANT! As always. I went to his Margate show earlier this year [February I think it was or possibly 2013]. I booked the tickets on the Inferweb and the email came from the Winter Gardens Theatre so, naturally, I assumed the show was at the theatre on the sea front. When we got there it was some Boy Scout event which I thought was part of the event. The guy on the door knew nothing about Count Arthur, never heard of him, but suggested I try the Theatre Royal up town. Got there just as they were closing the doors. That was a great joke he done there, just immediately on my arrival. Be warned, the live show is painfully funny. I tore some of the cartlidge between my ribs but through it I always laughed. Count Arthur wasn't fazed, the show went on and on. You couldn't make this stuff up. Will definitely go to see him again if he comes ...again.
Wow, I remember this original Ask The Family (with Robert Robinson). I must have been 12 or 13 and had a big crush on 'Phyllis' - so much that I watched the whole episode even though I found it tedious. This brought back memories of watching late afternoon TV before tea!
Saw him live last year my stomach hurt from laughing so much. just looking at him has me in stitches. The radio character changed a bit for tv. There's an hilarious sketch when he's using a dvd thinking it's a toaster, and is ecstatic that it has a fast forward button.
One of the most brilliant pieces of observation in any comedy clip I’ve seen is when Count Arthur mistakenly calls Mrs Kent, Mrs Corbett and the camera focuses on her and she is the spitting îmage of dear departed Ronnie Corbett. Its momentary and easily missed but is just one more of the hundreds of reasons I adore CAS and that Steve Delaney bloke who looks after him 😉
I saw this show in Glasgow when it toured. There were about 32 people in the audience which really added to the ambience of the failed performer. It was brilliant. I went to the last show also and it was packed out, probably due to the tv show. Lots of folk shouting for 'Eggy". I gave Malcolm a shout. I will be buying this.
How he controls his strange body movements, his gait and stiff neck is amazing. Utterly unique talent. No wonder he drives Bulent to distraction down at the cafe.
Many people might not be aware that Count Arthur also did a pilot show for the "Generation Game". Sadly it was never aired due in no small part to a misunderstanding regarding the prizes. "As the compare I think it's only fair that I get anything that the silly sods can't remember on the conveyor belt",said Count Arthur."..and they most certainly did not remember the Rotisori, Set of Wine Goblets and Black & Decker Workmate and that's on tape is that so they can bloomin' whistle for those"
When I saw this show, there were bits that weren't on the DVD. When he introduced the Ask the Family clip he said that one of the mothers hadn't been able to appear, but they were lucky as they found a stand in at the last minute. "Watch out for Ronnie Corbett in a wig". There was a brilliant clip of his appearance as a cyberman in Dr Who, and after a bit of verbal confusion he pointed at a woman in the auduence and said "That's what I said in the first place, if you'd bothered listening. Rewind it when you get home."
I'm using my Count Arthur 'tinned' CD set to soak test a newly repaired wirelessless CDD player. I'm reminded that 'nothing says sorry with more sincerity than a sausage'! You can't argue with facts like that!
Tommy Donovan It must’ve been cut from this clip but I saw it during his live show. He states what Mrs Kent’s hobbies are then he says “... and may I say, Madame, that you are the absolute spit of Ronnie Corbett!”
Thevradio shows are brilliant as well. He's a bit more rude and belligerent in them. In one he tells a receptionist "You don't seem to follow what I'm saying. It's like talking to a glove puppet".
Count Arthur acts like that mate of yours from college who believes the myth that you can't get drunk when tripping on acid, and sinks eight pints after dropping a Homer tab an hour before deciding to try to do a speech at your wedding. The Count rocks!!
The poor sods. They didn't stand a chance at winning, as the odds were stacked up against them from the very beginning. But still, they all joined hands and prayed for help from above just the same. Bloody, exclusive club la de da university scholars in charge of constructing those question banks.
I love the count, but when I saw him live, he did this as part of the performance and sadly it was the weakest part of the show. Thankfully the rest was side splittingly funny. He and Lee Evans are the only comics to make my eyes steam form laughter.
Such a lovely funny man,and BBC bloody BBC cancelled the funniest show since Only Fool's,yet they allow Open please some one burn it All hours on TV, says it all about television today,we don't want to offend snowflakes do we.
I love count aurthur

Cross between Hilda Baker and Harry Worth - he's great
I salute you count Arthur for standing on older gentleman who are not frolicaly impartially challanged !
BRILLIANT! As always.

I have to remember to go to the toilet before I watch this bloke, I laugh so hard it's been pretty close about 3 times now.
Saw him last Month at Richmond Theatre and he was ridiculously hilarious, I really do!
Ha ha! Very good.!
I live in Spain now but used to live in Richmond. I would have gone every night, lucky you.
What a beautiful theatre!
Count Arthur, what a brilliant character.
He's the best. I really do.
Nothing will ever beat The Day the Clocks went back
BRILLIANT! As always.

A genius.
I wish I could see him in person. I’ll have to hope there could be a series 4, unless he comes to the USA.
'I've said not to have kids in it.' Genius.
Oh if only they had carried that ask the family further it was pure comedy Gold. I told you not to have kids on it.

sprinklelouis Bloody noobs haha. 32 proper fans :) I would love to see him live.

Love him I really do
love the count. seeing him in Norwich soon . can't wait.

All roads lead to Rome, or so they say. Not the A57. I drove along it the other day and ended up in Worksop.
Looking forward to seeing in Barrow in furness.

He comes from a long line of great British comics , he’s like a 21 century Harry with ,,brilliant
I used to have a vacuum cleaner like that one. Happy memories
..in all its glory
@@marcokite especially 1st thing in the morning...
@@robertcreighton4635 - you can't have that because I've been told someone is a bit of a cheater Robert, so just think on Robert, it has been noted
Yeah come on BBC this man is so funny. Watched him live at Doncaster last week with my daughter and we laughed so much it hurt.
He sang about Doncaster in one live show. I don't know why the town didn't adopt it as their anthem.
Genius.
I'm using my Count Arthur 'tinned' CD set to soak test a newly repaired wirelessless CDD player.
I'm reminded that 'nothing says sorry with more sincerity than a sausage'!
You can't argue with facts like that!
I say Count Arthur would've made the best presenter in living memory but you won't hear me saying that.
Let us buy a digital version, BBC. It's 2015, I don't even have a DVD player anymore.
DNoolan Nothing to do with the BBC. Ask Komedia instead.
when is CAS coming back to BBC1
What happened to the line: "Mrs Kent's hobbies are dressmaking and looking like Ronnie Corbett? "
Tommy Donovan It must’ve been cut from this clip but I saw it during his live show. He states what Mrs Kent’s hobbies are then he says “... and may I say, Madame, that you are the absolute spit of Ronnie Corbett!”
My old teacher. Mrs McGhee!
Love the coat hanger, love the CAS
Quite right. Bring back 'Ask the Family' with the Count instead of that old baldy bloke!
Got all three series and stage show think he’s a genius
Thevradio shows are brilliant as well. He's a bit more rude and belligerent in them. In one he tells a receptionist "You don't seem to follow what I'm saying. It's like talking to a glove puppet".
I watched him three times at the Savoy in Monmouth and he is hilarious who ever hates him why and his real name is Stephen Delaney
I enjoyed the TV show but he is very like Harry Worth
Yeah but funny
I always called this programme ,ask the accountant, it seemed to be full of extremely dull families.
Count Arthur acts like that mate of yours from college who believes the myth that you can't get drunk when tripping on acid, and sinks eight pints after dropping a Homer tab an hour before deciding to try to do a speech at your wedding. The Count rocks!!
Very wise words from someone who obviously knows a thing or two about Counts
The poor sods. They didn't stand a chance at winning, as the odds were stacked up against them from the very beginning. But still, they all joined hands and prayed for help from above just the same. Bloody, exclusive club la de da university scholars in charge of constructing those question banks.
