Every time I have this song on where I can take out one side I listen to it like that. In one ear you can hear his harmony better. That and Tell It To The Rain. In the right ear you can hear just Frankie sing no instruments just his voice.
Whoever is Valli's stage arranger/producer, deserves a Grammy. The live arrangement fills in everything Frankie has "lost" with age-- and I don't miss it! Brilliant.
This is a shell of Frankie Valli and was at least 12 years ago. But Frankie Valli was a shell of himself in 1988. My father was a big fan and never missed an opportunity to watch him on PBS when they would run his concerts on PBS. Even then he could already not hit the high notes anymore.
Frankie was a real perfectionist. What a beautiful career. Just wow. I remember catching this song on my car radio one day I was like 16 and I cranked it up to 10 and my adrenaline must have hit a hundred and all the sudden I'm driving 80 mph. It became my fav 4 seasons tune that very minute.
I just want to congratulate this amazing singer. He has given us a wonderful meaning of what music is really made of. Sincerely from the bottom of my heart___thank you very much!!!!
Frankie Valli's birthday is May 3, the same as my wife's sister ... her name is Dawn ... my wife's name is Sherry ... Is this any coincidence that the 4 Seasons were my favorite group from the 60's?
This is the song that introduced me to the Four Seasons. It was a track on an old 1966 album. I discoverd it when I was around 9 in 1977. As Dick Clark said once, "Valli has something". Boy, does he.
I'm 73 now, and watching you and the Jersey Boys sing, "Silence is Golden". I've watched you my whole life, thru record hops and private parties. You were my #1 then, and you remain my #1 today. Thx for "everything". Much luv! ❤
I love this vid! Not to mention how much I love this song! How gr8 2 c them perform it live. And they so seem 2 b enjoying every minute. That's class. This song does something 2 me. It's sad, but so upbeat. Only Frankie & the 4 seasons could do this. GREAT! ABSOLUTELY GREAT!
HI,were is he with concert? I would LOVE to see him,I will come all the way from Iceland if I can see him,I bought this record in march 1972,and the same day I met my boyfriend to be and the father of my 2 girls. This song remember me always of that .
I have always love this song and I love Frankie for ever and ever. I never saw him and I never will not in this live but I see him in the next.See you Frankie 🥰🤩😘
I've gotten to see Frankie Valli 2xs. I would love to see him again. I've always been a true oldies fan and Frankie is one of my favorites. When I say true oldies, I mean 50s and 60s.
Francesco Stephen Castelluccio (born May 3, 1934), known professionally as Frankie Valli, is an American singer,[1] known as the frontman of the Four Seasons beginning in 1960.
There's a really nice article out on the web about the history of Opus 17 from Denny Randell, the man that wrote it. UA-cam won't let me paste the link. But if you search Google for "Is Opus 17 Classical" along with the name "Randell & Schippers", you'll find it.
12 years old with my little transistor radio sitting on the back porch. He ushered me into adulthood and being 68 now, he is ushering me out. My favorite song too
Seanny 1963: Would you have the guts and the art to stand up there and sing as if more than 50 years had not gone by?. Woluld you be kind and educated enoughf to answer?.
@seanny1963 It's not that he could not remember the right words. I feel he intentionally changes words in his live songs to show he's not lip-synching from a recording. Every performance of his songs have different words here and there. I heard him sing this song live and the words he used then were different from what you heard here. My first reaction to hearing it was---he changed the words---but I feel it's okay...he sang the original, he can do whatever he wants with it singing live.
You can definitely tell it's not lip synced because there were a couple of notes that didn't quite make it. If it was a recording, they would have taken the time to make sure every note is perfect. It's still an absolutely phenomenal performance and those little imperfections give it even more life
I love this song as I do many Four Seasons songs. Frankie's little brother Bobby and his band also had a great hit in 1969 that was never promoted to become a hit. It is a song called Hey Summer. My theory is that part of the song had some similarities To Opus 17 and deny Randell who was a producer of a few of The Four Seasons big hits and Hey Summer may have played a part in not promoting the song as he was still in contract with Franke Valli. I am just making assumptions here. I don't really know the true story, so somebody correct me if I am wrong. Either way, they were both great songs and no disrespect for Bobby but I do favor Opus 17 (Don't You Worry About Me)
The arrangement of the vocals of the backing singing on this song is nothing short of brilliant.
❤❤

After all these years Frankie still has his voice. The falsetto is not as high but he still got it.
The harmonizing falsettos are amazing.
I just want to congratulate this amazing singer. He has given us a wonderful meaning of what music is really made of. Sincerely from the bottom of my heart___thank you very much!!!!

The composure, chemistry and energy in this recording are incredible! The drummer makes his drumming look effortless.

Frankie just talks his way through my favourite 4 seasons song in this performance.
I forgot about this song. He's cute here. Since I'm getting old.

What song is Frankie referring to at the end, that was a big hit in England? And yes, this is excellent!
That's what I was wondering also. Anyone know?
Fallen Angel
