I've been late to an appointment with my kids. I apologized and asked if it's possible to accommodate or if we could reschedule. They were extremely forgiving and there happened to have been a cancellation so they could still see us. Being polite cost me nothing and it got me where I needed to be. Ya hear that, honey? POLITENESS IS CHEAP.

I might've punched that lady in the face because WHY ARE YOU WATCHING MY YOUNG GIRL'S OUTFIT CHOICES SO INTENTLY & WATCHING MY HOME ENOUGH TO KNOW MY PATTERNS OF ROUTINE WHEN WE WILL BE HOME?! She straight sounds like a predator to me if I'm being for real. Do I sound unhinged & like I would over-react? Yeah probably... Do I feel like that lady is a threat to my daughter(s) & my own safety after coming to my home & deciding to describe my daughters outfits on specific days & times as a complete stranger clearly extremely emotionally invested.... Disturbingly? Definitely yes. I already know I sound crazy to people by what my reaction would be but I seriously find this kind of behavior to be an extreme problem for young children. There is no situation that lady can be justified to watch strangers little kids & have some kind of... Something parallel to a parasocial relationship with vulnerable children in which the child has never even participated in any kind of dialogue with you to boot.

I work in an optometric office too, and we have 1 patient who's required to make her appointments for the same day or next day. And even then she racks up like $100 worth of missed appointment fees before she finally shows up. 🙄
I feel like there needs to be a penalty for calling cops and wasting their time on stupid stuff like the lady who called the cops because the woman was making a phone call. That’s wasting time and resources that someone with a REAL emergency could use. Maybe people would think twice about calling for dumb reasons if they were hit with a hefty fine.

As a disabled person, who’s illness is mostly invisible, the woman at the airport really infuriates me. I am so often doubted and asked if my many illnesses are real. I can’t even go through metal detectors due to many implants in my body, including my spine, for which I carry medical ID cards for. And she has the nerve to speak to people like that. I’ve waited over an hour once I got to the metal detectors at the airport just for someone who is female to come pat me down and use the hand wand. And that’s after waiting 2+ hours in the security line itself. What a miserable person. 😑
I'm the same, even down to the metal! I do have to use a wheelchair if I have to walk any distance, so I have that, but I CAN walk, the looks I get when I get out of my wheelchair. It's people like her that make life extremely difficult for people who are genuinely disabled and need help. Absolutely out of order.
My mum has a metal knee, irod rod through her thigh bone plus multiple screws at the knee and hip bone from breaking it by the hip and knee, and some screws in her arm after breaking it after a bad fall on ice. She has the documentation and all, but they always pat her down.
Yeah, it's like, you're not allowed to refuse service to anyone because of a disability, but that doesn't override the fact you can refuse service because they're being straight up abusive! Disability doesn't give you a free pass to be an ass!
As a disabled person who's utilized wheelchairs at the airport, I am always thankful for the employees who help. They work their butts off, hustle, and are very helpful! The first time I had to use the wheelchair, I didn't know it was commonplace to tip the employee. After that, I kept several 5's handy to hand them one once they got me to the gate. Rude people like that woman have no business interacting with humans in public.
A true handicap person would be thankful for getting me to the gate and on the plane. This lady is a joke. I'm glad they left her. I definitely tip everyone that helps me on every leg of the trip.
As a wheelchair user who hasn’t used a plane since I started using a wheelchair I hadn’t heard about tipping employees so thank you that’s really good to know for future. I can’t imagine being rude to someone who’s helping you.
If you are late to an appointment or you see you are gonna be late, just call. They would probably tell you "no problem, come when you can", because being nice usually is paid with niceness as well.
The Dad missed a perfect opportunity to exclaim, “ma’am I’m concerned with how closely you monitor what my toddler is wearing. That is not okay and I will be calling the police if you do not stop trying to make my child change her clothes!!!” 😂

I think it's more an american thing, here in Europe employees easily call out karens, because customer is most of the time wrong. I work as a cashier in supermarkets in Italy, and my employers always encouraged me not to let customers disrespect me, 'cause we are nobodies' servants
The customer is always right was meant to refer to customers who want to buy things which are unflattering or in poor taste. It was never meant as a license to be discourteous or rude.
They keep using those words. I do not think they mean what they think they mean. The full quote is "The customer is always right in matters of taste". If someone buys an ugly sweater because they love it and think they look good in it, they are right.

The lady who was upset about the color pink boils my blood. I have a niece who is autistic and has a couple other health problems. She will ONLY wear one color (pink), and that is it. It is so traumatic to her any time she has to wear another color (like if there is another color of a pattern in it). Her teachers are aware, she’s in therapy, but it is something she physically and mentally can NOT handle at this age yet. This lady makes me want to attack her in rage. He’s a great dad and has so much more patience than I would’ve had. I legit would’ve cussed her out and slammed the door on her and painted everything outside of my house pink. You never know what someone is going through. Screw you Karen!
My daughter is also on the spectrum and all her pyjamas are pink fleece or velour, when she needs new ones it’s a traumatic experience for everyone. I would never have entertained that woman

I personally think the lady who was locked out of her office should have just told the Karen and avoided riling her up. I understand she is a Karen and it was none of her business but what would have been so bad about just telling her you've been locked out of your office and you do belong in the building? As someone with a disabled wheelchair user family member and has recently been thru a whole airport experience, it grinds my gears with how rude she was to the staff. Those staff members are literally some of the nicest people in whole world, they looked after my entire family at the airport, chatting with my dad(who suffers from aphasia), made my mum feel taken care of for once and took what is usually a very stressful experience for us and made it painless. How is she not embarrassed???
I've been through airports a few times with my mom who can't walk very far. They are a godsend, I always made sure to have some loose bills. That individual was probably the nastiest one I've seen yet.
Those airport porters are wonderful in my experience! God bless them ! I have 2 “invisible “ diseases (CRPS/RSD & Eosinophilic Asthma). For them to have the patience to not punch her or even yell at her is amazing! It’s people like her that really hurt those with disabilities that need assistance. Too bad they can’t give her a sedative.

I am disabled and use a wheelchair. The folks at the airport that help are amazing and so kind anytime I have flown. People like her make it tough for people who need that help and appreciate it.
Exactly. As a fellow disabled (I usually use a walker, but when going to hospitals, airports, grocery stores I use a wheelchair), those hard working individuals are less likely to be sympathetic to the next disabled person they come across.
I was OBSESSED with the color yellow when I was younger. I literally thought everything yellow belonged to me. My preschool teacher had to hold an intervention because I would literally throw tantrums if someone got something yellow or I’d grab it from their hands. My parents were kind of forced to open me up to new colors then lol. We laugh about it now:) but yellow is STILL my fave. I literally waited four years after getting my license for the opportunity to purchase a yellow car in the make and model I wanted
I passed my little yellow car onto my daughter when I bought an orange SUV. It was just too adorable to sell and she loves it. Yellow is the titz pajamas.

I always gave my daughter a choice what to wear, she invariably chose pink. I let her choose the colour for painting her walls, it was pink. Not just any pink, but the deepest pinkiest pink. So were her curtains and her bedding. We were very happy when she outgrew this phase.
I love the way the lady on the phone handled that Karen. By just ignoring her, you could tell "Karen" got scared when she hit the phone because she let her know, DON'T DO THAT!!! She ran away ! 😂😂😂

My daughter went through a phase where she would only wear pink and purple, only have pink and purple things, etc. She would've screamed at this lady that they're "the best colors and if you say no you're wrong." Quite the strong personality
My son went through a phase where he only wanted to wear or have things that are blue and orange. He has a strong personality and is very vocal even when he was at the age of 3
I had a pink phase. These days I wear more blues and purples. Part of having freedom to wear what color you want is also picking traditional colors if you want it.

I know when my little sister was younger, her favorite color was pink. It has changed, but she had chose that to be her favorite color at the time. I love how the therapist handled the situation. She filmed but essentially ignored that lady otherwise. A lot of these Karen videos frustrate me because people engage with them for MUCH longer than necessary. I feel bad for employees who don't necessarily have a choice.

Those airport workers deserve a raise. They handled themselves with grace and professionalism in a difficult situation and not many would've been able to deal with that Karen so calmly.

Yeah, that snippet kinda confused me. I'd find it odd if someone was sitting in front of my apartment for an hour, but I wouldn't hit their car screaming "I fear you!" That's just... Weird. If I feel uncomfortable I avoid confrontation at all costs.
I’ve heard ER doctors have to learn self- defence because lots of patients attack them because they’re scared. Some people just become enraged and fight everything when they feel fear, even when it makes no sense. She saw a black man in what she considers her space and it freaked her out (because racism) and apparently that makes her hyper-aggressive.
You'd think that, but one of the most common response to being afraid is confrontation. When I worked at a haunted house, we had to be ready for someone to deck us in the face and to not get too close to them as a precaution.
I flew a couple months after knee surgery. I could walk, but not for long distances. So I looked fine, no obvious disability. The airport staff that took me through the airports were super nice and very helpful.
I hear you there, friend. A week after getting out of a really bad hospital stay (bad enough that I was included in the ‘They Could Die’ campaign), I went to the museum with my family for my birthday. I was super weak, short of breath in ten minutes, my feet would swell horribly in that time. I was ready to just go right to the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. Mom had to grab onto my shirt to get me to a wheelchair for the day. The staff was wonderful, and the simple fact I was trying to be fine, they could tell I legitimately needed it. Also the exasperation on Mom’s face of ‘my child is trying to kill themselves by being stubborn.’
Some states have what's called "Karen Laws" in which one can be fine or arrested for misuse of emergency lines like 911 and also making a false police report is a crime every state that I'm aware of.
Most of them are fake. I've seen them all coming from one guy's UA-cam channel. They're either fake, or he attracts some real nutters. Given that some of them make repeat appearances, it's the former.
I work in a profession that means it's very hard to make appts 9-5, which is why I specifically look for doctors that have 'outside normal hours' appointments. They exist, you just have to look for them. I also find that some people will specifically hold outside normal hours appts if you ask nicely!! My back specialist will open early one day a month for me and a few others to do our 'regular monthly checkup' because it's maybe 10-15 minutes, and she doesn't need the receptionist there, so it's JUST her being inconvenienced, and we seriously appreciate her for it!!

I once had a lady complain that she couldn't use her 40% off coupon on every single item. She said she can't come when the sales happen. In her exact words, "You know what I do on my days off? I SLEEP. I work 12 hour days! I don't have time to make it when ya'll have your sales!" Ma'am you're buying craft supplies. I'm not gonna give you sale price a week after the sale ended. I have a job too hon, but if I wanted something badly enough I'd make time.
Hilariously, a lady once went off on my ex-wife because my daughter was wearing blue jeans and a white tee. She was saying my daughter looked like a boy. My ex was silent. I wasn't. I said, "Look b***h. Mind your damn business. Go get your groceries and don't worry about how we dress our kid. F**k off." She left dragging her jaw.
I am going to be honest. It’s a little annoying when you wait to see the doctor for half an hour on every appointment and when you arrive 5 mins late for once, they immediately cancel your appointment. I am like ‘Ookaay. I still have 25 more mins waiting time to see the doctor, yeah?!’ 🤣🤣🤪
Although, as I've gotten older, I've gotten much more patient because I want doctors to spend the time they need to spend to help their patients. I might be the one taking the doctor past the allotted time because s/he's actually giving attention to me that i need to get better. That 20 minutes you had to wait might have just saved someone's life.
@cindyn.matera4207 I agree with this. My doctor is an angel on earth (not so easy to find where I live) and she always spends as much time as I need during our appointments. No matter how late she is running I'm happy to sit and wait. The other day I came in just as she was popping off to get her dinner. As soon as she saw me she turned around to take me into my appointment but I just told her to go and get her dinner and that I was happy to sit and wait as long as she needed. I never mind waiting for Drs because it's not like it's a one size fits all for each patient! But the thing I hate is if you arrive a few minutes late and apologise and the receptionists just refuse to even let you sit and wait until the end of the Dr's list or even ask the Dr if they have time for you. That is what pisses me off!
That wheelchair Karen really ticks me off. My mom needed assistance at the airports due to recovering from a knee replacement surgery. Those people at the airports (we had to switch planes at a huge international airport) were so helpful and kind. We made sure to tip them and thanked them for their hospitality. It’s not an easy job pushing people in wheelchairs all over those airports.
I tried to tip at the Toronto Airport, and they refused. I can't walk far, so I depend on help at airports. I also have a NEXUS, so my friends love traveling with me.. 😂

I think the world, in general, has become more confrontational and rude. Years ago, I worked front desk in a large medical office and, while we did get some folks who were inpatient and angry, I can only remember one time someone could be categorized as a ‘Karen’ who could not be reasoned with. I *did* remain calm and professional and did not sink to her level, though. But people are just way more *Extra* and confrontational now. The world in general has become angry and rude, imo.

I think they both were being extremely childish, the Karen for over reacting but it seems the lady on the phone never just answered her "I work in Suite *** and I am locked out", bc as soon as she heard that answer she said "why didn't you just say that" and left.
@@gabriel.c.gardner I work in a building where we all lease spaces so we each have our own suites on different floors, some businesses sharing each floor. There’s no way I’m telling a stranger or anyone in the building -where I work, which suite I’m in, or that I even work in the building. Property Management Only, which you meet and your business neighbors to your sides- you often see them. That’s somewhat dangerous to share (for safety) so I don’t blame the woman for not answering. I don’t need anyone just knowing my office number, or that I work in the building because what if they try to come find me one day or stop by the office? Many businesses are not for the public use. I work in my office often a lone. Many people work a lone depending on the business. Plus that woman doesn’t need others to know she is locked out which puts her safety at risk. The woman calling the cops, why? It’s shocking people in 2023 still call the police on others without merit. Only that woman in her heart knows why she ultimately called & I hope she looks deeply on her actions and re-examines that.

i think the problem was also that she was on the wrong floor! she wasn't even in the communal space on her floor... thats why the other lady reacted the way she did... and sometimes you can solve a situation by just answering someones question! "i work in suite and got locked out"

Originally, blue was for girls and pink was for boys. They considered blue calm and feminine (especially pastels). The Virgin Mary is often depicted in artwork wearing blue. Pink was a derivative of red--a strong "masculine" color. If you think about it, red is often associated with strong emotions like anger and passion, and with things like war and blood.

My husband had an issue at the store about me picking our daughter pink clothes. 🙄 I spent an extra 30 minutes holding sets of clothes up and having our 7month old point to the color outfit she wanted. She picked all pink 💗 and he was embarrassed since people were staring 😳😅

I always wore what i want regardless of nosey aunts saying i wore too much blue and purple. My mom always let us pick our colors and never refered to toy aisle by gender. It was the doll aisle the action figure aisle the crafts/make up aisle and the science and building aisle. I got a lot of "boy" toys as a kid cause they had the science stuff lol My fav colors since birth (i apparently cried when they wrapped me in a green blanket but cooed at the purple one.) Have been purple pink and blue. Worked out really well since im bi and those are the colors of the bi pride flag. Mom jokes that i only like guys and gals because i love the flag lol
I feel that any person who used to be in any musical program is never late. My conductor would always say “early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable”. And now I have anxiety that makes me wake up an hour before my alarm so I can make sure to turn it off on time
OMG while I'm not disabled, I have used the wheelchair services in an airport before for gate help when I really messed up my foot during a vacation. They were so sweet! I could not IMAGINE in my WILDEST DREAMS ever treating the people who help with that in such a manner!! My southern heart is quaking.
It seems clear, especially in the office common area incident and the parking lot one at the end, that the "problem" is that the people being harassed are guilty of EWB (Existing While Black). I'm so glad people record things like this nowadays. Also, kudos to the cops in the office space video.
The doctor in the common area of her office building handled that situation very well. I always said the best way to get a Karen is to ignore them while recording. She was clearly on the phone with a patient.

The victim was quite literally minding her own business and in the middle of a call in a common area shared by those that rent office space. The ONLY one to blame for police being called is the aggressor. At no point in time was the victim "riling" up the aggressor she was continuing her meeting. I've only been late unless a hospital is involved, with that I've been late twice. I've only called out 3 times in 3 years. I can't stand when a coworker is late or constantly calling out. I usually get to work 10 minutes and if I'm not in that early, my boss knows there's something wrong. My sister is the same. I'm with you Charlotte, people being late is a serious problem for me.
As one who had a toddler who believed clothing is optional anytime and EVERYWHERE, if he was willing to stayed clothed by wearing pink, it would have been a closet Barbie would have been proud of!!!😅😂
My brother, as a toddler, was very fashion conscious. Weirdly so. Mom could not put him in anything that clashed; stripes with plaid for example. Everything had to match, or he would pitch a fit. Let them dress however makes them happy. The worst is to put a little girl in a lacy, expensive frock and expect her to keep it spotless.

I can think of exactly one time I've called the cops for somebody doing something and it was because this old mfer thought it was okay to whip his dick out and take a piss on the mailbox building next to the playground where my 2yo was playing! I was irate! He was looking right at my child as he did it AND he only lived about a football field away and he drove to the building. He certainly could've come back for his mail were it an emergency. And because I didn't take a pic (who wants a pic of that?!), it was my word against his and the police just told him not to do that. THAT is a reason to be upset about what others are doing. Not this petty bullshit.
As a girl who loves pink, it is my personal mission to make basically everything I own some shade of soft, rosy, blushy, bashful, pastel, bubblegum, etc. Pink girlies are obnoxious about it, and there's nothing wrong with that! I like blue and black so much, and always have, that I have multiple identical pieces of clothing, that I am sure there are people out there, that think I wear the same clothes all of the time, and I could care less 🤣 I look good, and I am happy ❤️ A person's personal happiness with themselves, is the best feeling, no matter what others think 🥰
Reason for lateness: top of the most common list for adhd. It’s a major disconnect from time itself. Time blindness. It’s a hard course daily struggle . I have 15 alarms get just to make sure I get to work on time
The strong desire a 2 year old girl has to dress in pink is real. I am actually of the mind of that woman, that it is important for children to be given all sorts of colors of clothing to wear. We did that with our first child. From 2-4 all she wanted to do was wear pink. When a toddler decides they want something, anything, it is a hill they are willing to die on. This is every desire, every moment of the day. As parents, hopefully fully formed adults, we have to decide what hills we are prepared to die on every day. Clothing color simply isn’t one of those hills. Our younger daughter also went through this phase. There are more important things than arguing about clothing colors. Just let those children wear whatever color they want. There is not enough time in the day for that argument…with a toddler.
Mine too! I even remember buying other clothes, thinking that she'd love the frills or ribbons, but nope! She just wanted pink. Didn't grow out of it until she was around 6.
Right my middle child is non binary but when they were little everything had to be pink. They still managed to grow into themselves and having gone through a phase of all pink in their toddler years didn't stop their brain growth or prevent them from identity in a way they feel comfortable. Like wtf was that lady thinking she knew better than that dad on that kids choice in outfit
That’s so true. Parents have so much to be concerned about, health, development, etc., that the color they wear doesn’t matter. My friend had a naked baby (she loved running around sans clothing) so some are just happy their kids will put on clothing at all.😂😂
I could see this woman knocking on everybody's door to convince children to wear what SHE wants them to wear. If she came up to me, I would say "I'm sorry did you push these children out of you? "No?" "Then mind your damn business." 🤣 I close the door on her face. I would not let her waste any more of my time with such garbage.
I once had a patient show up about 45mins late. 8pm was our closing time. He actually came in cussing & telling me it was my fault. Because if the roads weren't icy he'd be on time! It's winter in Ohio, you made the appointment 3hrs ago & you work 1 mile away.
I had a patient try to get in past closing, unaware we were closed (the hours were posted on the door in big bold text, the lights were off and our door was locked) stating it's an emergency and he needs his blood drawn ASAP, so we need to open up and let him in NOW. He had a script for blood work because of an insect bite. A script that was dated 3 days prior. He got bitten at least 3 days before he got there, and said it was time sensitive and he might die. I told him there was a hospital 15 minutes away and they draw blood there, he should go there because it's an emergency, but we're literally closed and not allowed to see anyone past closing. He screamed at me and drove off stating his blood was on my hands. Like...what else was I supposed to do???

The lady on the phone should have told the Karen she'd been locked out of her office and not wasted the police officers time. She riled up the Karen on purpose and recorded her for UA-cam veiws. I think she was in the wrong, not the Karen.

late thing: sometimes unchecked mental illness can manifest like this. it’s possible to learn brain hacks with executive function disorders (adhd, autism etc) but it’s much harder and not something that comes naturally.
I have autism and I'm the opposite. I would rather be an hour, to several hours, early for something than late. If I'm late for something, rare as it is for me personally, I'll start panicking and freaking out.

That is true. It’s also a symptom of being an only child. Always given what you want, never humbled, never put back into place (socially speaking) by the other siblings. I have 15 brothers and sisters. I have had several friends who were only children. I have kept only one in my circle. All my other single child friends were too self centered. Only interested if it benefited them,always canceling plans cuz something better came along, tends to have underlying narcissistic tendencies. Only one of 6 have stayed. And she’s studying to be a psychologist. Don’t keep shitty people around. And give ‘em a good check of reality if need be. Stay classy, but more importantly stay petty. ❤
@@Gofftits69 I have this ingrained terror of being perceived as rude and inconsiderate, or missing something important to me, so I can be obsessed with being on time aka super early to things. I have incidents though where I'm late, or forget something altogether. That very thing happened yesterday and I'm still kicking myself over it.
The sad truth is most disabled people dont ask for enough help. We do not want to be a burden to others. It's the fakers that are always asking for help or special things and then bitching. The worst part is it makes it when we really need help we dont ask or people just think we are faking it if they cant see the reason for the disability.

Fun fact: 100 years ago pink was considered a color for boys and blue a color for girls, because pink gave ‘leadership’ energy (typically wanted to be seen in men in that time) and blue gave ‘calm’ energy (typically wanted to be seen in woman in that time). That woman was extremely protecting and basically telling that girl she can wear any color she wants every day, but because she’s a girl she can’t wear pink every day 😂
My friend Thorild in Norway and I exchanged baby clothes back in the eighties. She sent me orange and brown and yellow clothes outgrown by her baby for my new baby. Changed my life.
Exactly, it's perception based on TV shows, media and society. Would pink be lots of little girls favourite colour if it was currently considered a 'boys' colour, probably not. I'm not a huge fan of those women that dress as marshmallows in Barbiecore, but still, it's not that woman's kid, she seems to not be quite right in the head imposing on that family like that.

That's a great response! 100+ years ago, both toddler boys and girls wore dresses pretty much until they became school age. There's a photo of FDR as a tot wearing a dress, Mary Jane shoes, and with long curly hair! Boys typically got their first haircut at @ age 6. FDR was an adorable child but anyone who didn't know better would think that's a photo of a pretty little girl.

That's so hard, huh? When I took my baby to go get on the bus to Basic Training for the army, I lay on the couch for 2 days like I was in MOURNING. I was so shocked that it hit me that hard, but it DID. It was so rough! Hugs to you!
@@kanditraxel My brother is a staff sergeant for the USMC. He joined in 2009. My mother was absolutely numb when he first left for boot camp. Right up until we finally saw him at graduation. Then she sobbed like a baby and let it all out. She was even worse for his first deployment. It's was almost as if she held it in until she knew he was fine, and the second she would see him or hear from him, relief and tears would come. I know college is a walk in the park compared to what you and my mom experience as parents. Our youngest, being the baby of the family and halfway through college, is just a reminder that they grow up in the blink of an eye. Tell your daughter thank you for her service ❤️.
@myroses79 And the same to your brother! She was injured during a freaking routine training, and never "got" (her words, not mine, lol...) to deploy, and she hates that (I tend to sigh in relief). It messed her up pretty bad. She's had 2 surgeries and needs a third. She's done her duty IMO, you know? Her hubby is an Air Force career man. He was in an installation that had a suicide bomber, but he doesn't like me to say which, so I won't. He wasn't hurt. We all hate it when he deploys. 😒 He's a good man. They've been married for almost 10 years. We are proud of them both. Again, a big thanks to your brother! (And to your mom for HER sacrifice of colored hairs to grey! Lol)
I am disabled, and when we had to fly, had the sweetest people helping me through the airport. I tipped each person and was very thankful to them. Was so grateful. It is so easy to be polite and thank people and smile. People like that fake woman, give disabled people a bad rap.
Absolutely. I'm disabled also, and I can't count the number of times I've been told I'm too young to be disabled. I'm 45 and have been disabled for over half of my life. It's fun to watch their brains short circuit when I ask them; "What about the babies born with disabilities every day? Aren't they way too young to be disabled?"
Yep. I was just flying a few days ago, and my grandma and I both needed to be pushed in wheelchairs because we can’t walk long distances. All of the people helping us were so nice and helpful. We gave them all tips. Kindness costs nothing, and you’re going to walk away with a better experience and feeling better about yourself if you’re nice to people.
Wheelchair lady needs to be named and shamed.. When I use the wheelchair service I’m forever thanking them as they save my so much pain. They do a fantastic job. And in every country/transit I’ve been in, they have a been great THANK YOU COURTESY WHEELCHAIR ASSISTANCE STAFF AROUND THE WHORLD

As a disabled wheelchair person who already has to deal with so much ableism by TSA, I find her pretending to be disabled abhorrent! Even in the face of being told get up and walk through the scanner, all because my legs moved (not paralyzed, but can't walk) I still did not berate the agent. I'm steaming here! And if she, by chance, is disabled, take that moment to educate, not berate.

Anytime a service worker starts a sentence with “it’s not my fault that…” instantly makes me envy the balls they have to say that to a customer. Because most of the time, the customer is NOT right.
I think the pink dad didn't close the door in her face because he was far too entertained. Lol The woman being told she couldn't be in the office building has the patience of a saint. The way she was able to just keep going with her call and not react was impressive.

So, I'm going to be upfront here. I am the person that is always late. For me it has to do with depression and having to fight a whole war in my head to force myself to go anywhere. I was fired from my first job because I was always late. But befire anyone comes for me, I recognize that it's a problem and it is something that I have been seriously working on for years and have majorly improved upon. Anyways, I say all this to say that I have been late to many a doctor's appointment, but I have NEVER been so late that I was turned away. She must have been HELLA late to have actually missed the window for her appointment.
Was looking for a comment like this. I have adhd and ocd, among other things. I have been late so often I advise my friends to invite me half an hour earlier than the actual time they had in mind. It's not like I can never be on time, but I need a lot of time to prepare and even then something can go wrong last minute or take longer than anticipated.
I feel you. So many days it's hard for me to get out of bed let alone be on time anywhere. I try and have gotten better when it comes to work but for most other things I'm usually late because it takes me so long to get through the battle going on in my head before I can leave my house.
Same here. I always say to people, “however mad you are at me for being late, multiply it by a thousand because that is how mad I am at myself”. People need to at least understand that it isn’t done from a place of malice, trying to hold anyone up, or control people. I literally cannot wrap my head around accurately gauging how long it takes me, plus all the stuff I forget I need to do before I walk out the door (starting to write routines and checklists did help some), and adding in enough time for buffer but not so much that I feel like I’m wasting time just twiddling thumbs. I cannot count the number of times I have been late to appts (even sleeping through a couple because I was overly optimistic about being able to get myself out of bed), and every time, *every time*, I am extremely apologetic, call and ask if I should simply reschedule, and every time, I am met with respect and understanding and often a, no problem, we are backed up so come on in( I usually schedule appts later in the day for that reason, hack!)
I have really struggled with time management over my lifetime. (Figured out as an adult I had ADHD and autism! Go figure!) I would never get mad at someone just doing their job and holding a boundary when I was the one in the wrong. That's bonkers. Nowadays, I live my life by alarms and I review what alarms I need to schedule every day. I also schedule in days where I don't have to follow a strict schedule. My friends let me schedule "windows of arrival" instead of exact times of arrival when I'm doing poorly. And I put in extra effort for friends who feel less loved and respected if I show up late. I'm not perfect at it - time blindness is a beach - but I'm never going to make other people responsible for my weaknesses.

I struggle with being chronically late/time blind and I've tried EVERYTHING! It's the worst part of my ADHD. I have managed to implement certain things that work( getting up EXTRA early or literally not scheduling or doing anything else on rhe days of my appointments AND showing up way early but still... As a working, married, mother of 4- its still hard
Once I went to turn my car around and pulled into a spot so I could throw my car into reverse and back up, and before I started moving back, some Karen came running out to tell me that was a paid parking spot and I'm not allowed to be there, but I was literally still in the motions of getting turned around, nothing about my behavior hinted towards me parking. Like, thats nice. Thanks for the info, let me leave now please? Ugh some people.
My favorite part about some of these encounters is them using the excuse “I don’t feel safe” while continuing to approach that person and get i their space. If you felt unsafe that would be the last thing you would do. It’s used in so many of these situations to try and make the person seem dangerous when all they are doing is minding their own business. It’s utterly ridiculous

As a disabled person I’m HORRIFIED by her behaviour . While it would be great if everything was accessible for everyone we are not at that point yet. The airport Karen not only pretended to be disabled (which is COMPLETELY ableist on SO MANY levels), but berated the entire staff for doing their job and trying their best to suit her needs is unacceptable. I’m appalled that we have to share a planet with these people.

In high school in theater club the teacher always had a saying: early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable. This motto haunts me to this day! if I am ever late I start to panic.
As for the lateness thing, ADHD has time blindness issues. I can plan and plan and most of the time it doesn't matter because of those issues. As for the job thing, I agree, tell the job you need off early, or make the appointment for a different time/date!
You know your phone has this thing called an alarm. I don’t have adhd, but in my early twenties I would set an alarm every day for 2 hours prior to the time I was supposed to be at work. That would tell me it was time to eat, get dressed, put makeup on, etc. it took me 30 minutes to get to work, so that alarm gave me 1 1/2 hours to get ready. If you have a problem being on time for things, set an alarm. No doctor’s office or hairdresser should HAVE to see you when you’re late. They have other people (who were on time) to see.
@@Zagarspupil thanks to my 10 alarms set to go off in 10 minute intervals, I manage to be more or less on time to the things you said. Things still happen because we can't estimate how long a task will take. However, if the task becomes a routine it's much easier. Take k-12 for example. Hard to be late when we had bells to make our brains switch tasks and a to-the-minute routine that we could count on so that we got used to how the amount of time felt so that we're rarely tardy. Once that stops, it messes with us and we get frustrated that we now have so much trouble with time blindness. But saying you don't have ADHD and suggesting something that works for you is like going up to someone who is blind and saying "well I'm not blind, but when I have trouble seeing I just put on glasses." We unfortunately can't alarm our way out of everything, but I promise we try
I always get ready an hour early if I can just because of time blindness. I always arrive half an hour early because I'm scared I'll end up late otherwise. But I always make an effort and if I'm late, I'm not rude about it.
@@Zagarspupilyou obviously may not understand time blindness. That is like telling someone morbidly obese to just eat less and move more, when the issue may be mental health or disease related. All the alarms in the world don’t help and most people don’t understand that ADHD is actually an executive function disorder where attention can neither be turned on nor turned off according to usual pathways (hence why I’m watching Charlotte 4 hours after I said I was going to the gym), working memory is smaller (we can only hold so many tasks in cue), and prioritization of tasks isn’t done automatically by the brain. It can also lead to inaccurate or overly optimistic estimations of time because we know how long the actual task takes, but not how long all the interruptions will add. Each person’s time blindness make work differently as well and a lot of us have extreme anxiety around being late which can further overwhelm us or delay us. Here is how it works for me: I should go to the gym now. Wait, I need to finish this episode (doing things to completion is a necessity for me). Wait, that story makes me think of something. I should check the comments to see if anyone else thought the same. 15 mins later: I need to get changed for the gym. Do I have anything clean? Go to check Oh, I have it now but won’t tomorrow. I should throw a load in. There’s stuff in the dryer that I need to at least fold. Now I need to go to the bathroom. Wait, is that what my hair actually looks like? Let’s fix that. Gotta go grab socks. Wait, the cat needs fed Oh, I’m getting low on her food, let me add that to the list Gotta clean out her dish first Crap, gonna need to do the dishes to have room Okay, putting on shoes Wait, never fed the cat. Dang it, dog needs to go out before I leave because it’s later than I planned Okay, dog’s been out, cat is fed *bzzzzzzz* I should put the laundry in the dryer so it doesn’t molder. Grab my water:dang it, need to top it off Water pitcher is low, better fill it now. It’s not that we need to set alarms. We get waylaid by side quests, sometimes forgetting our primary mission, because the working memory bank can only hold so much and everything in our immediate to do list is ranked by our brain as equal priority, even if it isn’t. Here’s my coping. I hand write lists (typed lists don’t stick as well in my memory but written does) of what ordinarily needs to be done before I leave. I brain dump anything unrelated to get it out of my working memory (works well for breaking hyper focus or completion need). I work backwards from the time I need to be somewhere to figure when I need to start moving. As I get closer, if the side quests have limited my time, I will eliminate some of my get ready steps (based on what I can live with, like ironing clothing) if needed. I evaluate after how well it worked and anything that I might have missed and try to do better next time while trying not to beat myself up profusely.
The second Karen about the colors of a toddler's clothing: It's really not worth trying to argue with a toddler about what colors they should wear. AS long as they're dressed, let them wear whatever they want! It's not worth the effort!
Right! When I was five, my mom made me a cute tiger costume that was a jumpsuit that zipped up the front, had a tail, with a detachable hood that had tiger ears. I loved that thing and wore it everywhere except school until I outgrew it. By then it had holes in the knees and was faded. Mom didn't care, as long as I was dressed.
I've been late to an appointment with my kids. I apologized and asked if it's possible to accommodate or if we could reschedule. They were extremely forgiving and there happened to have been a cancellation so they could still see us. Being polite cost me nothing and it got me where I needed to be. Ya hear that, honey? POLITENESS IS CHEAP.

There is no situation that lady can be justified to watch strangers little kids & have some kind of... I work in an optometric office too, and we have 1 patient who's required to make her appointments for the same day or next day. And even then she racks up like $100 worth of missed appointment fees before she finally shows up. 🙄
I feel like there needs to be a penalty for calling cops and wasting their time on stupid stuff like the lady who called the cops because the woman was making a phone call. That’s wasting time and resources that someone with a REAL emergency could use. Maybe people would think twice about calling for dumb reasons if they were hit with a hefty fine.
All these women we see online need to be charged. It is a crime and for some reason they seem to keep getting away with it half the time.

As a disabled person, who’s illness is mostly invisible, the woman at the airport really infuriates me. I am so often doubted and asked if my many illnesses are real. I can’t even go through metal detectors due to many implants in my body, including my spine, for which I carry medical ID cards for. And she has the nerve to speak to people like that. I’ve waited over an hour once I got to the metal detectors at the airport just for someone who is female to come pat me down and use the hand wand. And that’s after waiting 2+ hours in the security line itself. What a miserable person. 😑
I'm the same, even down to the metal! I do have to use a wheelchair if I have to walk any distance, so I have that, but I CAN walk, the looks I get when I get out of my wheelchair.
It's people like her that make life extremely difficult for people who are genuinely disabled and need help. Absolutely out of order.
My mum has a metal knee, irod rod through her thigh bone plus multiple screws at the knee and hip bone from breaking it by the hip and knee, and some screws in her arm after breaking it after a bad fall on ice. She has the documentation and all, but they always pat her down.

As a disabled person who's utilized wheelchairs at the airport, I am always thankful for the employees who help. They work their butts off, hustle, and are very helpful! The first time I had to use the wheelchair, I didn't know it was commonplace to tip the employee. After that, I kept several 5's handy to hand them one once they got me to the gate. Rude people like that woman have no business interacting with humans in public.

If you are late to an appointment or you see you are gonna be late, just call. They would probably tell you "no problem, come when you can", because being nice usually is paid with niceness as well.

I think it's more an american thing, here in Europe employees easily call out karens, because customer is most of the time wrong. I work as a cashier in supermarkets in Italy, and my employers always encouraged me not to let customers disrespect me, 'cause we are nobodies' servants
The customer is always right was meant to refer to customers who want to buy things which are unflattering or in poor taste. It was never meant as a license to be discourteous or rude.

The lady who was upset about the color pink boils my blood. I have a niece who is autistic and has a couple other health problems. She will ONLY wear one color (pink), and that is it. It is so traumatic to her any time she has to wear another color (like if there is another color of a pattern in it). Her teachers are aware, she’s in therapy, but it is something she physically and mentally can NOT handle at this age yet. This lady makes me want to attack her in rage. He’s a great dad and has so much more patience than I would’ve had. I legit would’ve cussed her out and slammed the door on her and painted everything outside of my house pink. You never know what someone is going through. Screw you Karen!
My daughter is also on the spectrum and all her pyjamas are pink fleece or velour, when she needs new ones it’s a traumatic experience for everyone. I would never have entertained that woman

As someone with a disabled wheelchair user family member and has recently been thru a whole airport experience, it grinds my gears with how rude she was to the staff. Those staff members are literally some of the nicest people in whole world, they looked after my entire family at the airport, chatting with my dad(who suffers from aphasia), made my mum feel taken care of for once and took what is usually a very stressful experience for us and made it painless. How is she not embarrassed???
I've been through airports a few times with my mom who can't walk very far. They are a godsend, I always made sure to have some loose bills. That individual was probably the nastiest one I've seen yet.
i have a hidden disability, my ankles can break at any time, i can fall at any moment. i hate it when people are nasty to people like that.
Those airport porters are wonderful in my experience! God bless them ! I have 2 “invisible “ diseases (CRPS/RSD & Eosinophilic Asthma). For them to have the patience to not punch her or even yell at her is amazing! It’s people like her that really hurt those with disabilities that need assistance. Too bad they can’t give her a sedative.

I am disabled and use a wheelchair. The folks at the airport that help are amazing and so kind anytime I have flown. People like her make it tough for people who need that help and appreciate it.
Exactly. As a fellow disabled (I usually use a walker, but when going to hospitals, airports, grocery stores I use a wheelchair), those hard working individuals are less likely to be sympathetic to the next disabled person they come across.

I was OBSESSED with the color yellow when I was younger. I literally thought everything yellow belonged to me. My preschool teacher had to hold an intervention because I would literally throw tantrums if someone got something yellow or I’d grab it from their hands. My parents were kind of forced to open me up to new colors then lol. We laugh about it now:) but yellow is STILL my fave. I literally waited four years after getting my license for the opportunity to purchase a yellow car in the make and model I wanted

I always gave my daughter a choice what to wear, she invariably chose pink. I let her choose the colour for painting her walls, it was pink. Not just any pink, but the deepest pinkiest pink. So were her curtains and her bedding. We were very happy when she outgrew this phase.

I love how the therapist handled the situation. She filmed but essentially ignored that lady otherwise. A lot of these Karen videos frustrate me because people engage with them for MUCH longer than necessary. I feel bad for employees who don't necessarily have a choice.

Yeah, that snippet kinda confused me. I'd find it odd if someone was sitting in front of my apartment for an hour, but I wouldn't hit their car screaming "I fear you!" That's just... Weird. If I feel uncomfortable I avoid confrontation at all costs.
I’ve heard ER doctors have to learn self- defence because lots of patients attack them because they’re scared. Some people just become enraged and fight everything when they feel fear, even when it makes no sense.
She saw a black man in what she considers her space and it freaked her out (because racism) and apparently that makes her hyper-aggressive.
I think she was afraid of him (because she’s clearly racist) and her fight response kicked in. Some people flee when scared, some people fight.
You'd think that, but one of the most common response to being afraid is confrontation. When I worked at a haunted house, we had to be ready for someone to deck us in the face and to not get too close to them as a precaution.

I flew a couple months after knee surgery. I could walk, but not for long distances. So I looked fine, no obvious disability. The airport staff that took me through the airports were super nice and very helpful.

A week after getting out of a really bad hospital stay (bad enough that I was included in the ‘They Could Die’ campaign), I went to the museum with my family for my birthday. I was super weak, short of breath in ten minutes, my feet would swell horribly in that time. I was ready to just go right to the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. Mom had to grab onto my shirt to get me to a wheelchair for the day. The staff was wonderful, and the simple fact I was trying to be fine, they could tell I legitimately needed it. Also the exasperation on Mom’s face of ‘my child is trying to kill themselves by being stubborn.’
More of these Karens need to be hauled to jail for calling police under false pretense.
Some states have what's called "Karen Laws" in which one can be fine or arrested for misuse of emergency lines like 911 and also making a false police report is a crime every state that I'm aware of.
Most of them are fake. I've seen them all coming from one guy's UA-cam channel. They're either fake, or he attracts some real nutters. Given that some of them make repeat appearances, it's the former.
I work in a profession that means it's very hard to make appts 9-5, which is why I specifically look for doctors that have 'outside normal hours' appointments. They exist, you just have to look for them. I also find that some people will specifically hold outside normal hours appts if you ask nicely!! My back specialist will open early one day a month for me and a few others to do our 'regular monthly checkup' because it's maybe 10-15 minutes, and she doesn't need the receptionist there, so it's JUST her being inconvenienced, and we seriously appreciate her for it!!

I am going to be honest. It’s a little annoying when you wait to see the doctor for half an hour on every appointment and when you arrive 5 mins late for once, they immediately cancel your appointment. I am like ‘Ookaay. I still have 25 more mins waiting time to see the doctor, yeah?!’ 🤣🤣🤪

@cindyn.matera4207 I agree with this. My doctor is an angel on earth (not so easy to find where I live) and she always spends as much time as I need during our appointments. No matter how late she is running I'm happy to sit and wait. The other day I came in just as she was popping off to get her dinner. As soon as she saw me she turned around to take me into my appointment but I just told her to go and get her dinner and that I was happy to sit and wait as long as she needed. I never mind waiting for Drs because it's not like it's a one size fits all for each patient! But the thing I hate is if you arrive a few minutes late and apologise and the receptionists just refuse to even let you sit and wait until the end of the Dr's list or even ask the Dr if they have time for you. That is what pisses me off!
It is. I had a procedure today and I got there half an hour early, but wasn't called back until an hour after my appointment was scheduled for.
That wheelchair Karen really ticks me off. My mom needed assistance at the airports due to recovering from a knee replacement surgery. Those people at the airports (we had to switch planes at a huge international airport) were so helpful and kind. We made sure to tip them and thanked them for their hospitality. It’s not an easy job pushing people in wheelchairs all over those airports.
I tried to tip at the Toronto Airport, and they refused.
I can't walk far, so I depend on help at airports. I also have a NEXUS, so my friends love traveling with me.. 😂

I used to work as a medical receptionist and I now have a lot of trauma from dealing with people like this.
I think the world, in general, has become more confrontational and rude. Years ago, I worked front desk in a large medical office and, while we did get some folks who were inpatient and angry, I can only remember one time someone could be categorized as a ‘Karen’ who could not be reasoned with. I *did* remain calm and professional and did not sink to her level, though. But people are just way more *Extra* and confrontational now. The world in general has become angry and rude, imo.

There’s no way I’m telling a stranger or anyone in the building -where I work, which suite I’m in, or that I even work in the building. Property Management Only, which you meet and your business neighbors to your sides- you often see them. That’s somewhat dangerous to share (for safety) so I don’t blame the woman for not answering. I don’t need anyone just knowing my office number, or that I work in the building because what if they try to come find me one day or stop by the office? Many businesses are not for the public use. I work in my office often a lone. Many people work a lone depending on the business. Plus that woman doesn’t need others to know she is locked out which puts her safety at risk. The woman calling the cops, why? It’s shocking people in 2023 still call the police on others without merit. Only that woman in her heart knows why she ultimately called & I hope she looks deeply on her actions and re-examines that.

My husband had an issue at the store about me picking our daughter pink clothes. 🙄 I spent an extra 30 minutes holding sets of clothes up and having our 7month old point to the color outfit she wanted. She picked all pink 💗 and he was embarrassed since people were staring 😳😅

My fav colors since birth (i apparently cried when they wrapped me in a green blanket but cooed at the purple one.) Have been purple pink and blue. Worked out really well since im bi and those are the colors of the bi pride flag. Mom jokes that i only like guys and gals because i love the flag lol

OMG while I'm not disabled, I have used the wheelchair services in an airport before for gate help when I really messed up my foot during a vacation. They were so sweet! I could not IMAGINE in my WILDEST DREAMS ever treating the people who help with that in such a manner!! My southern heart is quaking.
It seems clear, especially in the office common area incident and the parking lot one at the end, that the "problem" is that the people being harassed are guilty of EWB (Existing While Black). I'm so glad people record things like this nowadays. Also, kudos to the cops in the office space video.

I've only been late unless a hospital is involved, with that I've been late twice. I've only called out 3 times in 3 years. I can't stand when a coworker is late or constantly calling out. I usually get to work 10 minutes and if I'm not in that early, my boss knows there's something wrong. My sister is the same. I'm with you Charlotte, people being late is a serious problem for me.

My brother, as a toddler, was very fashion conscious. Weirdly so. Mom could not put him in anything that clashed; stripes with plaid for example. Everything had to match, or he would pitch a fit. Let them dress however makes them happy. The worst is to put a little girl in a lacy, expensive frock and expect her to keep it spotless.

I can think of exactly one time I've called the cops for somebody doing something and it was because this old mfer thought it was okay to whip his dick out and take a piss on the mailbox building next to the playground where my 2yo was playing! I was irate! He was looking right at my child as he did it AND he only lived about a football field away and he drove to the building. He certainly could've come back for his mail were it an emergency. And because I didn't take a pic (who wants a pic of that?!), it was my word against his and the police just told him not to do that. THAT is a reason to be upset about what others are doing. Not this petty bullshit.

Reason for lateness: top of the most common list for adhd. It’s a major disconnect from time itself. Time blindness. It’s a hard course daily struggle . I have 15 alarms get just to make sure I get to work on time
The strong desire a 2 year old girl has to dress in pink is real. I am actually of the mind of that woman, that it is important for children to be given all sorts of colors of clothing to wear.
We did that with our first child. From 2-4 all she wanted to do was wear pink. When a toddler decides they want something, anything, it is a hill they are willing to die on. This is every desire, every moment of the day.
As parents, hopefully fully formed adults, we have to decide what hills we are prepared to die on every day. Clothing color simply isn’t one of those hills.
Our younger daughter also went through this phase. There are more important things than arguing about clothing colors. Just let those children wear whatever color they want. There is not enough time in the day for that argument…with a toddler.

Right my middle child is non binary but when they were little everything had to be pink. They still managed to grow into themselves and having gone through a phase of all pink in their toddler years didn't stop their brain growth or prevent them from identity in a way they feel comfortable. I once had a patient show up about 45mins late. 8pm was our closing time. He actually came in cussing & telling me it was my fault. Because if the roads weren't icy he'd be on time! It's winter in Ohio, you made the appointment 3hrs ago & you work 1 mile away.
I had a patient try to get in past closing, unaware we were closed (the hours were posted on the door in big bold text, the lights were off and our door was locked) stating it's an emergency and he needs his blood drawn ASAP, so we need to open up and let him in NOW. He had a script for blood work because of an insect bite. A script that was dated 3 days prior. He got bitten at least 3 days before he got there, and said it was time sensitive and he might die. I told him there was a hospital 15 minutes away and they draw blood there, he should go there because it's an emergency, but we're literally closed and not allowed to see anyone past closing. He screamed at me and drove off stating his blood was on my hands.
Like...what else was I supposed to do???

late thing: sometimes unchecked mental illness can manifest like this. it’s possible to learn brain hacks with executive function disorders (adhd, autism etc) but it’s much harder and not something that comes naturally.
I have autism and I'm the opposite. I would rather be an hour, to several hours, early for something than late. If I'm late for something, rare as it is for me personally, I'll start panicking and freaking out.

That is true. It’s also a symptom of being an only child. Always given what you want, never humbled, never put back into place (socially speaking) by the other siblings. I have 15 brothers and sisters. I have had several friends who were only children. I have kept only one in my circle. All my other single child friends were too self centered. Only interested if it benefited them,always canceling plans cuz something better came along, tends to have underlying narcissistic tendencies. Only one of 6 have stayed. And she’s studying to be a psychologist. Don’t keep shitty people around. And give ‘em a good check of reality if need be. Stay classy, but more importantly stay petty. ❤

I have incidents though where I'm late, or forget something altogether. That very thing happened yesterday and I'm still kicking myself over it.
The sad truth is most disabled people dont ask for enough help. We do not want to be a burden to others. It's the fakers that are always asking for help or special things and then bitching. The worst part is it makes it when we really need help we dont ask or people just think we are faking it if they cant see the reason for the disability.

That's a great response! 100+ years ago, both toddler boys and girls wore dresses pretty much until they became school age. There's a photo of FDR as a tot wearing a dress, Mary Jane shoes, and with long curly hair! Boys typically got their first haircut at @ age 6.

@@kanditraxel My brother is a staff sergeant for the USMC. He joined in 2009. My mother was absolutely numb when he first left for boot camp. Right up until we finally saw him at graduation. Then she sobbed like a baby and let it all out. She was even worse for his first deployment. It's was almost as if she held it in until she knew he was fine, and the second she would see him or hear from him, relief and tears would come. I know college is a walk in the park compared to what you and my mom experience as parents. Our youngest, being the baby of the family and halfway through college, is just a reminder that they grow up in the blink of an eye. Tell your daughter thank you for her service ❤️.

It messed her up pretty bad. She's had 2 surgeries and needs a third. She's done her duty IMO, you know? Her hubby is an Air Force career man. He was in an installation that had a suicide bomber, but he doesn't like me to say which, so I won't. He wasn't hurt. We all hate it when he deploys. 😒 He's a good man. I am disabled, and when we had to fly, had the sweetest people helping me through the airport. I tipped each person and was very thankful to them. Was so grateful. It is so easy to be polite and thank people and smile. People like that fake woman, give disabled people a bad rap.

Absolutely. I'm disabled also, and I can't count the number of times I've been told I'm too young to be disabled. I'm 45 and have been disabled for over half of my life. It's fun to watch their brains short circuit when I ask them; "What about the babies born with disabilities every day? Aren't they way too young to be disabled?"
Yep. I was just flying a few days ago, and my grandma and I both needed to be pushed in wheelchairs because we can’t walk long distances. All of the people helping us were so nice and helpful. We gave them all tips. Kindness costs nothing, and you’re going to walk away with a better experience and feeling better about yourself if you’re nice to people.

When I use the wheelchair service I’m forever thanking them as they save my so much pain.

As a disabled wheelchair person who already has to deal with so much ableism by TSA, I find her pretending to be disabled abhorrent! Even in the face of being told get up and walk through the scanner, all because my legs moved (not paralyzed, but can't walk) I still did not berate the agent. I'm steaming here! And if she, by chance, is disabled, take that moment to educate, not berate.

So, I'm going to be upfront here. I am the person that is always late. For me it has to do with depression and having to fight a whole war in my head to force myself to go anywhere. I was fired from my first job because I was always late. But befire anyone comes for me, I recognize that it's a problem and it is something that I have been seriously working on for years and have majorly improved upon. Anyways, I say all this to say that I have been late to many a doctor's appointment, but I have NEVER been so late that I was turned away. She must have been HELLA late to have actually missed the window for her appointment.

Was looking for a comment like this. I have adhd and ocd, among other things. I have been late so often I advise my friends to invite me half an hour earlier than the actual time they had in mind. It's not like I can never be on time, but I need a lot of time to prepare and even then something can go wrong last minute or take longer than anticipated.

I feel you. So many days it's hard for me to get out of bed let alone be on time anywhere. I try and have gotten better when it comes to work but for most other things I'm usually late because it takes me so long to get through the battle going on in my head before I can leave my house.
Same here. I always say to people, “however mad you are at me for being late, multiply it by a thousand because that is how mad I am at myself”. People need to at least understand that it isn’t done from a place of malice, trying to hold anyone up, or control people. I literally cannot wrap my head around accurately gauging how long it takes me, plus all the stuff I forget I need to do before I walk out the door (starting to write routines and checklists did help some), and adding in enough time for buffer but not so much that I feel like I’m wasting time just twiddling thumbs. I cannot count the number of times I have been late to appts (even sleeping through a couple because I was overly optimistic about being able to get myself out of bed), and every time, *every time*, I am extremely apologetic, call and ask if I should simply reschedule, and every time, I am met with respect and understanding and often a, no problem, we are backed up so come on in( I usually schedule appts later in the day for that reason, hack!)

I have really struggled with time management over my lifetime. (Figured out as an adult I had ADHD and autism! Go figure!) I would never get mad at someone just doing their job and holding a boundary when I was the one in the wrong. That's bonkers. Nowadays, I live my life by alarms and I review what alarms I need to schedule every day. I also schedule in days where I don't have to follow a strict schedule. My friends let me schedule "windows of arrival" instead of exact times of arrival when I'm doing poorly. And I put in extra effort for friends who feel less loved and respected if I show up late. I'm not perfect at it - time blindness is a beach - but I'm never going to make other people responsible for my weaknesses.
SAME Google alarms are the way I live my life. I look up driving times too to plan accordingly. High anxiety man😅.

I still haven’t been able to help myself even with alarms and schedules. How do others do it? :( I have an alarm and get ready and I forget what is going on and miss things. I hate my brain..

Okay I feel the same way. I have issues with being late but I just panic on the way there and then make another appointment if I have to…
The woman in the office building common area! Hell to the naw! And by the sounds of it, the woman trying to work who can't get into her place of business is like a therapist or something. She was on the phone, and her patient, who needs her help to get through their day, has to hear all of that.

That woman needs to be told that it's not her job to worry about other people like that. If she is truly THAT mentally handicapped, why is she even in that building?

I struggle with being chronically late/time blind and I've tried EVERYTHING! It's the worst part of my ADHD. I have managed to implement certain things that work( getting up EXTRA early or literally not scheduling or doing anything else on rhe days of my appointments AND showing up way early but still... As a working, married, mother of 4- its still hard
Once I went to turn my car around and pulled into a spot so I could throw my car into reverse and back up, and before I started moving back, some Karen came running out to tell me that was a paid parking spot and I'm not allowed to be there, but I was literally still in the motions of getting turned around, nothing about my behavior hinted towards me parking. Like, thats nice. Thanks for the info, let me leave now please? Ugh some people.
My favorite part about some of these encounters is them using the excuse “I don’t feel safe” while continuing to approach that person and get i their space. If you felt unsafe that would be the last thing you would do. It’s used in so many of these situations to try and make the person seem dangerous when all they are doing is minding their own business. It’s utterly ridiculous

The lady in the wheelchair is fully abusive, the fact that she’s in a wheelchair is not excusing her manners and I think she’s doing this on a daily basis using the wheelchair as an excuse for her disgusting behavior

As a disabled person I’m HORRIFIED by her behaviour . While it would be great if everything was accessible for everyone we are not at that point yet. Truly more of us appreciate all the ways in which people try to make things accessible for us than hold the entitled, horrid, narcissistic views of this woman. What a nightmare
The airport Karen not only pretended to be disabled (which is COMPLETELY ableist on SO MANY levels), but berated the entire staff for doing their job and trying their best to suit her needs is unacceptable. I’m appalled that we have to share a planet with these people.
And there is a COURTESY SHUTTLE that she can take and NOT have to lie about being disabled.

In high school in theater club the teacher always had a saying: early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable. This motto haunts me to this day! if I am ever late I start to panic.
As for the lateness thing, ADHD has time blindness issues. I can plan and plan and most of the time it doesn't matter because of those issues.
As for the job thing, I agree, tell the job you need off early, or make the appointment for a different time/date!
You know your phone has this thing called an alarm. I don’t have adhd, but in my early twenties I would set an alarm every day for 2 hours prior to the time I was supposed to be at work. That would tell me it was time to eat, get dressed, put makeup on, etc. it took me 30 minutes to get to work, so that alarm gave me 1 1/2 hours to get ready. If you have a problem being on time for things, set an alarm. No doctor’s office or hairdresser should HAVE to see you when you’re late. They have other people (who were on time) to see.
@@Zagarspupil thanks to my 10 alarms set to go off in 10 minute intervals, I manage to be more or less on time to the things you said. Things still happen because we can't estimate how long a task will take. However, if the task becomes a routine it's much easier. Take k-12 for example. Hard to be late when we had bells to make our brains switch tasks and a to-the-minute routine that we could count on so that we got used to how the amount of time felt so that we're rarely tardy. Once that stops, it messes with us and we get frustrated that we now have so much trouble with time blindness.
But saying you don't have ADHD and suggesting something that works for you is like going up to someone who is blind and saying "well I'm not blind, but when I have trouble seeing I just put on glasses."
We unfortunately can't alarm our way out of everything, but I promise we try
I always get ready an hour early if I can just because of time blindness. I always arrive half an hour early because I'm scared I'll end up late otherwise. But I always make an effort and if I'm late, I'm not rude about it.

@@Zagarspupilyou obviously may not understand time blindness. That is like telling someone morbidly obese to just eat less and move more, when the issue may be mental health or disease related. All the alarms in the world don’t help and most people don’t understand that ADHD is actually an executive function disorder where attention can neither be turned on nor turned off according to usual pathways (hence why I’m watching Charlotte 4 hours after I said I was going to the gym), working memory is smaller (we can only hold so many tasks in cue), and prioritization of tasks isn’t done automatically by the brain. It can also lead to inaccurate or overly optimistic estimations of time because we know how long the actual task takes, but not how long all the interruptions will add. Each person’s time blindness make work differently as well and a lot of us have extreme anxiety around being late which can further overwhelm us or delay us. Here is how it works for me:
I should go to the gym now.
Wait, I need to finish this episode (doing things to completion is a necessity for me).
Wait, that story makes me think of something. I should check the comments to see if anyone else thought the same.
15 mins later: I need to get changed for the gym.
Do I have anything clean?
Go to check

It’s not that we need to set alarms. We get waylaid by side quests, sometimes forgetting our primary mission, because the working memory bank can only hold so much and everything in our immediate to do list is ranked by our brain as equal priority, even if it isn’t. Here’s my coping. I hand write lists (typed lists don’t stick as well in my memory but written does) of what ordinarily needs to be done before I leave. I brain dump anything unrelated to get it out of my working memory (works well for breaking hyper focus or completion need). I work backwards from the time I need to be somewhere to figure when I need to start moving. As I get closer, if the side quests have limited my time, I will eliminate some of my get ready steps (based on what I can live with, like ironing clothing) if needed. I evaluate after how well it worked and anything that I might have missed and try to do better next time while trying not to beat myself up profusely.
The second Karen about the colors of a toddler's clothing: It's really not worth trying to argue with a toddler about what colors they should wear. AS long as they're dressed, let them wear whatever they want! It's not worth the effort!
Right! When I was five, my mom made me a cute tiger costume that was a jumpsuit that zipped up the front, had a tail, with a detachable hood that had tiger ears. I loved that thing and wore it everywhere except school until I outgrew it. By then it had holes in the knees and was faded. Mom didn't care, as long as I was dressed.
