I went to a Black Friday store opening where they distributed surprise gift cards. They were from $10 to $100. A pushy woman grabbed the card offered to me as she came through the door.
I just looked at the staff member like “some people, right?” We smiled at each other and I took the next card.
The pushy woman scratched hers ….$10.
    I scratch mine…. $100. Lmao

I have been harassed by people like this. My husband had cancer surgery and lost an eye and had facial scarring. We were dining in a nice restaurant and some people asked us to leave because his face disturbed them. The manager asked them to leave. They then had the audacity to say we should only eat at home. I felt so bad for my husband. It took so much courage for him to go out. He was a naval officer who had been deep selected twice. He had a doctorate in physics. He deserved a little respect.

Please thank him for his service and I'm so glad that he survived everything that he went through with his surgeries. It does take a great deal to go out after you've been scarred. I was in a horrible traffic accident and of course did not come out of it the person I was before. Only a few years ago I had looked in the mirror and said Oh the person I had been I had been a fashion model well my body was definitely not that anymore but I said you know at least I still have my face in a way 2 months later a doctor made a horrific mistake and I ended up on a medication that blew my face up the size of a beach ball can you imagine what it was to come home and you couldn't even see your eyes your nose or your mouth and your ears were out to your shoulder edges and you didn't even know how your skin could stretch that far. The medication deforms your face and your back most people who have it if they have money they get plastic surgery but I can't afford that so nobody understands that's why I don't go out. I took that steering wheel of the face pretty good I thought I didn't have my nose the way it was anymore etc and I didn't ask for the scars to be redone. My husband at the time couldn't forgive me for the one scar that you couldn't even see on the bottom of his chin in our marriage failed and I went on but to have my face the way it looks now is hard but I have to look at it and go hey you're still alive My doctor's are proud of me because even though my oxygen to survive because what the doctor did damaged to be so bad that I can't survive without oxygen at a very high dose etc and I made it through COVID even though I have a lingering illness now from it My doctor laughs and says my God everything you've been through in life You are really hard to kill and I should be proud of that So your husband should wear his battle scars whether they were one working for our government for our people for our safety or one through battling in illness He should be proud that he made it through and he should go out to dinner at a fine restaurant in the world should be thankful that they did it have to fight that battle themselves. Therefore but for the grace they have not had to go.

How much do they charge at build-a-bear? Maybe I need to go into the custom stuffed animal business!
I sold a few sock monkeys on eBay that I made back when those were kind of a fad. A lady with twin boys asked if I could make a pair of them for her boys, and she sent a pic of her cuties. I told her I can do one better, I'll make them with striped t-shirts like they're wearing in the photo! I happened to have the same fabric in my stash. I charged $60 for both. They were happy!
The one I made for my brother was my favorite. I gave the monkey face droopy eyelids and lips so I could insert a set of "Billy Bob" teeth. It was a funky monkey, and I sent it to him for Christmas. He told me there was actual ROFL for several minutes after he opened that gift! 🤪

When our kids were young we went to the beach for a week. I sat with my 6 year old making a sand castle. Over her shoulder I heard a kerfuffle and there was a family with 2 girls under 10 and a little boy about 2. The boy was stomping on their sandcastle and Karen was saying, "he's just a little boy, he doesn't understand. Let him have his way." She never chastised him. Anyway, after the boy destroyed his sisters' castle, he saw our beautiful castle and came right over. He stared at it and raised his foot and I said "NO!". He put his foot down on the castle with a stubborn look and I yelled NO this time. He burst into tears and the mother came running over, picked him up and accused me of hitting him! Some beach neighbours told her I didn't. I calmly explained that I wasn't going to let him destroy MY daughter's castle.
She called me every name under the sun, created a terrible scene and said he was too young to understand NO and I "should have just let him have his way"! She wouldn't leave and was scaring my daughter. Then her husband came over, and he started in on me. I'm tall and can take care of myself but I've never been so thankful to see my husband come out of the surf with our other kid. He's big. 6'6", solid muscle, and looks mean, although he's a pussycat. He asked what was wrong in his deep voice. The husband took one look at him and scurried back to their place on the sand, dragging his still cussing wife. People applauded. I would love to be a fly on the wall in their home when that boy becomes a teenager. He'd obviously never been told No before.

We had a substitute bus driver who was......a very uniquely angry person. Now I know my kids aren't perfect. That's why I looked deeper into the issues my 2 kids were coming to me about before flying off the handle, blaming the driver. There also were the many times I could hear the bus driver screaming as the bus would pull away "All you little F***ers need stay quiet/ shut up/stop bawling!" Busses are pretty loud when they're running, so that driver had to be screaming their lungs out!
Talked to other bus drivers for our school district. Asked other parents what their children's experiences had been with this sub. Learned what my kids were going through wasn't isolated. Talked to the bus barn, they brushed me off. Talked to the principal. Brushed off. Talked to the sub, was told to "F*** off." Was getting nowhere. So I kinda went up the chain of command. In a petty revenge way lol.
I asked my neighbor if they wouldn't mind taking my kids to the bus stop for a week.
They weren't impressed. If fact on the of the days when my neighbor asked the driver why they were screaming profanities at the kids. The driver told them to "Mind your own Damn business! You don't tell me how to do my job! I don't have to let these kids on my bus! You want your grandbabies to get to school (wrongfully assuming neighbors relationship to my kids ) you drive the little F***Ta**s."
Sooooooooooo, We don't live in a very uppity neighborhood. It's pretty rual. Houses bland, unassuming. That might be why the sub didn't realize my neighbor, was (retired right before the plague.) the Superintendent of our school district. Wanna guess how that worked out for that substitute driver?
This led to a bigger investigation and our district canceling the contract with the company running the bus barn and hiring a new one in it's place. Long standing and newer drivers who didn't have problems kept their positions with a pay raise. But the management, our sub driver, and a handful of others, some with worse behavior, got the sack.

As someone with PTSD I totally agree with the anti-firework Karen's. I absolutely cannot stand explosions. It is an involuntary reaction that sends me into a panic. So when your neighbors ask you to please knock it off keep in mind it could be because they have PTSD and it seems like you don't care if you are hurting them. I've never gone and screamed at anybody, I will leave the area, I will put on headphones that are noise canceling, and I will deal with it. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to forever judge the people who don't care about their neighbors. Especially if you're setting them off after like 11:00 p.m. midnight cuz people still have to work the next day.

Most of my neighborhood did the same. Sometimes there were folks setting off fireworks a few days before & after the 4th, but that was it.
I still live in the same neighborhood.....but these days the fireworks begin in early June & continue through the end of July, usually until well after midnight every night. Loud explosions every night from dark until the wee hours of the morning for 2 solid months.

The problem with "reassuring" a dog or cat is that they interpret your reassurance as a reward for being scared. They're not children, they don't understand what reassurance is. Try to distract the dog. When she gets calm, give her a treat (just a couple kibbles of dog food is sufficient). Each time she starts to freak out, distract her (not with food). Each time she calms down, give her a treat. Only give the treat when she's calmer. She will slowly learn that being scared isn't a rewarded behavior.

8:25 I haven't become a Karen about the fireworks in my neighborhood, but I could. Where I live all fireworks are illegal (anything that explodes or creates sparks). I have a couple of neighbors who go to a nearby state to buy huge, professional sized stuff. When it launches, it sounds like a mortar "THOOM" and then "KABOOM". They're pretty, but illegal and dangerous. They shoot them off all year long (New Year's, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and other random days for no apparent reason.
In mid-May this year, I heard three go off. A few minutes later I heard shouting and thought someone had finally told them off. I get up to look out the window. That's when I saw it. A house across the street and two doors down was in flames. The shouting was other neighbors alerting the next house to get everyone out and move cars because the fence and grass between the houses was burning. We are incredibly lucky that it wasn't windy that evening. The next day the wind was going 35mph gusting to 60mph. Had that been happening when this has was on fire, we might have lost the whole neighborhood as happened on December 31 only 15 miles away.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. The people who lived in the burning house were not home. The entire garage was destroyed, and part of the roof over the rest of the house was burned (you can see where flames were coming out of the attic vent on the far end of the roof). It's been condemned as structurally unsafe, and also has signs warning of asbestos. This elderly couple has lost their home and all it contained, because someone was launching illegal fireworks. And it hasn't stopped them either. So, I get why some people can go Karen on their neighbors over fireworks.

I got to see a Karen in the wild about a month ago at the Walgreens pharmacy. They have been short-staffed since Covid, so there's usually a long wait.
This old Karen was angry because the price of her medication had increased, so she angrily demanded the cashier change the price! Then she demanded to see the only pharmacist on duty and wasted his time for @ half an hour asking the stupidest questions that she should only ask a doctor, and probably not even a doctor. I thought about recording it, but I was afraid she'd notice and punch my lights out.
She was still there, yelling and refusing to leave when I got my Rx and thankfully could get out of there.

The person angry about fireworks had every right to be, in many places they are illegal. You're waking up babies, scaring people with ptsd, and probably pets too. You're risking setting the neighborhood on fire. I have that problem in my area all the time- it's illegal here unless you are part of the big parks department display.

Yes, I have been that "Karen". Fireworks that go up in the air (like at professional shows) are illegal where I live. People one short block away from me were shooting them off at 12 midnight. And they were aiming them so they went over the busy street that separated our blocks and they literally exploded over my house. Noise ordinance is for 10pm, and as I mentioned, those kind were illegal. And no, they did not know me at the time or had any beef with me. Just that thoughtless and dumb. Also this was a week after the 4th of July.

I'd say it all depends on the location. I grew up in a very rural neighborhood. Whenever someone lit fireworks, my parents' reaction was to tell us to go outside and look. As far as I know, as long as the fireworks are the legal kind, you can shoot them in your own yard all you want, at least where I grew up. If someone called the cops the cops would probably tell them to fuck off in a polite way.

@@MsAngelique Literally, same. That is a great benefit to living in rural areas. I never paid to see fireworks, just walked outside! They usually ended by midnight on the weekends, 10pm on a weekday. Cops take about an hour to even arrive if they are called where I'm from so it's pointless to call them for anything non-serious

As a previous bus driver, never technically yelled but had to raise my voice for everyone to hear me.
If your kids are cause for getting hurt I had to tell them to stop & not all listened or cared.
Had a job to do & we are recorded both for our safety & the kids!
Can't tell you how many kids tried to lie on drivers.
Mom could have called the school if she had concerns.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again. If somebody gets upset about seeing bare skin, they shouldn't go to the beach. If it's a good day, you'll see a lot of beautiful women with bikini bodies getting tans. But you might also see plus sized women who outweigh an elephant or guys with beer guts the size of a compact car. It's the beach. If you go there, you have to put up with seeing bare skin.
Oh, and if the husband is checking the girls out, the girls aren't the problem. The lady has a husband problem. I guarantee you that if the girls covered up, Prince Charming is just going to look around for another woman to gawk at.

It was especially disturbing that the woman thought they were underage, even asking about their parents. So she was blaming who she assumed were children for her husband ogling underage girls. Gross.🤮

You don’t need parents to go to the beach... teens can go wherever 🤷🏼‍♀️ The lady is the kind of lady who’s husband would pretend he’s not married and cheat on her and then blame the woman he told he was single 🤷🏼‍♀️ If that lady wants other women to cover up she should go live in an Islamic country that’s super Islamic where women aren’t even allowed to wear the burkini (basically a wetsuit with a hijab) on the beach 🤣🤣🤣 albeit then she would be her husbands property
