I love Meshuggah, I didn't get into them until fairly recently but I was really surprised by how their newer music has become significantly more prog metal-y, very dark, ethereal, almost psychedelic, but extremely brutal, honestly kind of even verging on bands like Tool, it really scratches that itch that Tool does for me. That isn't to say they're like, aping on Tool's style or anything, mind you, they're still very much just Meshuggah, but I love the direction they've taken. Wonderful break down on Meshuggah's history. I really gotta listen to more of their discography, they're _stupid_ heavy.
What a great dive into the creation of djent from the masters themselves. Appreciate the video lads.

great deep dive! did not know they sounded thrash early on! Just goes to show how much you can advance if you evolve naturally.

2:26 That is not Fredrik Thordenhal.
Someone is trolling his Wikipedia page then because that's where we got the photo: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fredrik_Thordendal
It's him, just shorter hair and Grey beard
That's absolutely Fred. No question.
