    Making a Leather Trifold Wallet with Coin Pouch
    We finished up a great little trifold design, so we had to make one! This trifold wallet uses two glove snaps for a closure and features a coin pouch! It's made from natural vegetable tanned leather, and also has 4 card slots (one hidden), and a giant universal bill slot that is open on two sides for easy access.
    A big thanks to Weaver Leather for sponsoring our videos as always! You can find all of the tools and materials we used in the first link, and the pattern in the second. Happy Crafting!

    Love that you can also put cards under the coin pouch, I have that on my current wallet and it's so convenient and adds some "invisible" space! Fantastic work as always :)

    How about 2 Needles and a stitching clam with a stainless steel diamond awl blade and rosewood or cocobolo haft. That’s my preference (35 years experience ) .........Though your finished products are elegant...doing it your way.

    How are you able to make the stitch holes of the outer and inner portions line up so well if they are 'pricked' separately?
    Thanks

    @corterleather I want to purchase some leather from Weaver and I want a larger piece but I am overwhelmed by the choices. For wallets and things like that would a shoulder, tooling side, skirting leather or some other part of the cow be best? I love your videos and watch every one of them.

      We usually order full sides of leather, but that's enough for dozens of wallets! You can start with a shoulder if you're just learning (that's the first thing I ordered when I was starting!) or if you want to jump in, I'd recommend getting a side of vegetable tanned leather. Get it in 10oz, and have weaver cut it into strips as wide as they can (usually 10-11" wide). Then have them split some into 2-3oz and some into 5oz - this way you get two different weights from the same hide, and it's only about $20-30 for the labor from Weaver instead of having to purchase two full hides for two weights. You can use the heavy stuff for wallet exteriors and card holders, and the thinner stuff for wallet interiors. if you get natural veg tanned tooling sides you can also dye each piece individually instead of purchasing different color hides until you're ready to have lots of a single color leather around as well

    How long is the shipping process? It’s been three weeks and I’ve yet to get to receive an email that it’s been shipped. I also tried to contact you guys through the website but I haven’t gotten a response.

    Nice! I like the trifold design!! I'm curious how thick this leather is, and how tall your stitching chisels are?

    • @pietroiannuzzi3407
      @pietroiannuzzi3407 5 років тому

      not 100% sure, but I think he said in another video that typically, for wallets, you use 1-1.5mm thick leather

    • @Corter
      @Corter  5 років тому +4

      Thanks! We use 3oz leather for the inside and 5oz for the outside, then 5mm stitching chisels

    • @Teyla91
      @Teyla91 5 років тому

      @@Corter Thank you! I have 5mm stitching chisels as well, but in this case I was curious how tall the teeth are? Because I think mine are fairly short (hence, can't get through many layers). 3oz veg tan seems great for wallets. I find it hard to find such thin veg tan (here in the Netherlands)
