    Making a Leather Tool Pouch
    About a year ago we made a nice leather pouch for our Weaver stitching chisels. The pouch was a bit of a sample - after about a year, we've made some adjustments to the design and made a more permanent addition to our workbench! We've stiffened up the body with a double layer of leather, and switched from a strap closure to a snap closure for performance
    We've used some nice scrap vegetable tanned leather here - we've cut it by hand and sewn it with a saddle stitch. The hardware is solid brass

    The original design is good for those who don’t have any snaps on hand while the improved version are for those who have snaps on hand. Both have their own uniqueness. Lovely project as always

    Hello,
    I've been digging around trying to find the pattern to follow along and I'm not able to locate it.
    I've dug around on the link provided and also checked your section on Weaver's website and can not find the patter for the tool pouch.

    Thank you for taking the time and creating very informative content. I'd really like to hear the thoughts and opinions from everyone (if Corter Leather can chime in, that would be awesome) on a basic tool setup for a person just starting out. Any other words of wisdom or direction to quality resources would be greatly appreciated.

    Im super new to leather working (like havent purchased a thing, but started watching alot of videos) what is the point of hammering the seems after you glue them?

    • @iraisrose
      @iraisrose 5 років тому

      rdilgart better adhesion. You can tap with a hammer 🔨 or I’ve seen some use a roller passed over the areas being glued to press the two pieces together and ensure they won’t come apart.

    • @nyetloki
      @nyetloki 5 років тому

      Hammering spreads the glue evenly and it also helps thin out the edges a bit so they arent as bulky. The compressed leather is also stronger.

    Your stitching looks so refined. I cant wrap my head around it is a 5mm chisel ? I looks way more refined than 5mm between stitches ? You only use 5mm for smaller goods aswell, like card wallets etc ?

    • @Corter
      @Corter  4 роки тому +3

      yep! we use 5mm for almost everything, i'm not a big fan of small stitching. you need to use the right thickness thread to make it look balanced, that's usually the key - if it looks wonky it's usually because the thread is too thin or thick
