Ikr, everybody freaks out about the speed metal riffs later in the track, and don't get me wrong there are multiple points in this song that are incredible, but this interlude is one of the most special/impressive parts of a metal song ever. So much more layering that you can only really hear when it's isolated here. I'll best most fans have no idea there's both an acoustic and bass guitar in this bit
@@Brendo9000I also think like that. In this song this part just amazes me because the acoustic guitars and the electric guitars combined sound just gives an weird way of feeling but its in a good way
Listened to this song for years and never heard it like this, so hidden in the full mix and yet one of the best riffs in the track. Reminds me of how the Frayed Ends rhythm behind the solo is usually looked over.
@@P.Z.E.R.O It really is very low in the mix. I could tell something was there, and when I heard it here and clearly, it was so pleasing. I even learned it on the guitar shortly afterwards. 😆 Too lazy to look up the tabs and too low in the mix to play it by ear. 😂
It sounds so strong here, but in the main mix this is under two other layers of harmonized guitars... can't complain because the end result is incredible too
Maybe that's where it came from? Like, at the last minute they're like "we need to make a tribute to cliff" and just redid some of the other riffs in the album.
@@parrotsparrotsparrots That's actually a common misconception. Cliff did indeed have a couple things on a riff tape that Metallica based some of To Live is to Die on. And part of the spoken word in the middle of the song was taken from something Cliff supposedly wrote. Most of it is a quote from a poet named Paul Gerhardt, but it's been said that the last line of the spoken word was from a notebook of Cliff's. So that is why he's given partial writing credit on the song. But the majority of the song was material written by James as a tribute to Cliff.
how did you manage to extract these guitars?!?!?!?! they were so hidden in the mix not even the isolated tracks from the guitar hero files have them extracted. This is awesome i can finally learn the song correctly now
I found a UA-cam channel that had the individual tracks for James and Kirk, and I found a few bits in the vocal track as well. I just edited each track accordingly to get a true rhythm track.
@@KylezMusic I don't off the top of my head. Just look up "metallica one guitar only" and it'll say something like "metallica one guitar only track 3/5"

i love how everyone is setting timestamps to learn the song

It's the exact same part as the next section but in A not E.

I love this guitars
So it sounds like there is an accoustic guitar playing with the clean ones !
Yes sir
Never noticed that before, thx for the discovery !@@CaptainRudy4021
@@gabfish16 James actually used an acoustic guitar in almost every clean section during the first five albums.
Thats a good idea, it add a nice layer to the sound, thx for the info !!@@CaptainRudy4021

Songsterr.com has a pretty accurate tab. Just look up this song and select James distortion rhythm

@@jayyoutube8790 it's played with an acoustic guitar and two clean electric guitars
2:22 and 3:10 are incredible
Distorted effects sounds is like an flanger or chorus these the most hard metal band
That's from James recording up to 8 guitar tracks
@CaptainRudy4021 the reason they record 8 tracks, is because you can have less distortion and quad track the guitars, and it sounds heavy as hell
