2021 UPDATE: The Boeing 747 is no longer part of Qanta's fleet. The airline has been receiving lots of brand-new Boeing 787s which are being used on many of their long-haul routes. To see what that plane is like, please feel free to take a look at this Premium Economy Tripreport by fellow air travel blogger SAN SPOTTER here: ua-cam.com/video/MpeVvdJ6Ywg/v-deo.html
As a creator that focuses of economy class flights I always enjoy the fact that despite so much success you still fly in the ‘cheap seats’. Great trip report as usual.
Nigel Marvin . No that is not true . As of December 2018 , QF still operates a handful of B747-400 . They intend to continue operating the 747-400 until 2020 . They do not operate the freight version .
I live in Sydney and have never flown on a 747 nor have I seen what it looks like inside, but thanks to this video, I finally get to see and check out what it's like inside my country's flag carrier airline's 747-400... :D Thanks so much for sharing this video, I really enjoyed it! :D Love from Sydney, Australia!
SMB 226B It’s amazing I’ve been on a few Virgin Atlantic 747-400’s and it’s amazing. It’s a plane that’s becoming hugely extinct so I’d hurry if I were you!
My country airlines has already retired all their b747 before I even born.... But since I am a student and don't fly that frequent, not sure if I have a chance to take the b747...🤔
SMB 226B Shame really, here in the UK we’ve actually got quite a lot. At some point I’m hoping to take a BA 747-400 from LHR to KDEN but it’s so expensive 😒
Well done as usual! The Qantas 747 looks very comfy, love the seats. I with that I had more pride in my home country Air Canada. But seeing this video, I see that Qantas easily has the edge. Thanks for taking us along on your trip!
Most Australians imagine Air Canada would be easily better than Qantas. Canadian things just have a very good and clean image to us. I never really realised how good Qantas was until I had to do a heap of flying in Europe and North America (never with a Canadian carrier though). Even a first class domestic flight in the US was worse than an economy flight with Qantas or Virgin Australia. But Canada and Canadian things are always idolised here.
Hi how’s your day, it awesome to see you flying airlines in the pacific such as air nz and Qantas. If I may ask one question: What is ur intro song called? Thank you much love for New Zealand
Nice flight and review with the added bonus of a spare middle seat...food looked pretty good and the Qantas In Flight entertainment system is very very good ( when its working ) Love the 747 and it will be a sad day when they leave the fleet! Enjoy Hong Kong...one of the great cities in the world!!

Lovely video ! Thanks for the upload (I very much like 747 flight reports; Probably because of the good memories I have of flying on them to many long distance destinations, in the past.) The view of Hong Kong on approach to Chek Lap Kok is fantastic! You did a very good job on recording it. (I remember landing at the old Kai Tak Airport, in 1987, and while flying over the apartment blocks, you could clearly see the people in their houses and walking on the street. It was an awesome sight !) By the way: Good to see that you survived the Aussie heat; 40.9 C was recorded in Sydney, today - Friday 25 January. Temperature wise you'll have to accept 'less heat' when you're back in Europe. :D
@@nicholasmathias2059 It's obvious that I didn't read the description of the video properly; How stupid of me !! Thank you for your response to my comment ! I realy appreciate it ! (I visited Sydney twice, both times in July (when it's summer over here, in The Netherlands), and I needed to wear a jacket when I went outside for my sightseeing activities. I'm pleased to say that Australia is one of my favourite travel destinations and Sydney (which very much reminds me of Vancouver - BC, Canada) is such an awesome, beautiful city !) Take care and 'keep cool'! :D
Great video, Felix! The only criticism: the trip is from July 2017? Isn’t that a bit too long ago? I totally understand you guys are busy besides the pressure of frequently publishing your trip reports. But wouldn’t it be more fair to all watchers ánd the airline to upload a trip report much sooner? It just doesn’t really display a ‘recent’ service/product of the airline and how it represents itself imo. Nevertheless, keep up the really great work! 👍🏼
Totally agree. But (un)fortunately we fly more often than we post. So over time we accumulate a lot of uncut videos that we never decide to post. And at some point I find them again and just think, well...better publish it now than never... I'm sorry for the delays, but we're trying hard right now to work through our mountain of uncut videos. In February we're even publishing Tripreports daily! :)
Pretty cool flight report. Loved the Sydney & Hong Kong airports. Too bad you didn't visit the lounge. The leg room and the onboard meals weren't too bad.
Great to see you Down Under. 🇦🇺👍 Nice report. That looks like a Bickford’s cordial ... basically flavouring you add to water. Whereas soft drink is generally carbonated / fizzy. 🤓
I flew on that bird from Melbourne to Sydney about 3 years ago. And I thought Qantas would have phased out the 747 by now. At least that's what I had heard at the time.

Thanks to Emirates I have had my fare share of a380 flights, but I still love 747s more. Great video as always! P.S. I really hope there were more four engine aircrafts coming to the market but it's never gonna happen in a twin-engine jet age, how sad.
That's another lofty goal of mine that's fast becoming impossible...to get on a QF 747! I've only ever been on a 737 (AKL-SYD) and on the Go Wallabies A380 (SYD-DFW). The meal service looked delicious! - Red

Nice to see 747-400 flying. I hope the quad engine era don't retire too fast.
All I know is that Lufthansa is keeping their 400’s for a bit. And they got some 8’s as well, so it won’t be an end too soon
