The inside of the plane never indicates the "safety" or "ability to perform" of an aircraft. The inside may be worn down but I highly doubt this aircraft has ignored the required safety checks.
I've worked for an airline for 16 years and #1 thing when flying should be to bring cleaning wipes and wipe everything. Window shade, IFE controller, IFE screen if its touch. Planes are not cleaned well. I'm not a germ phob it just makes sense.
Dave Schwartz my moms in charge of that whenever we go for a trip she brings wipes and says "don't touch anything let me clean everything before touching" you should also clean the tray table in front of you so yea Ik always bring wipes

The revive of Air India due to this Covid19 and should take this opportunity to operate all domestic and internatinal routes. Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderbad to SFO in US more revenue than operating from Delhi as these cities are more I T
This review reminds me the flights of the 80's... Before vloggers invaded the internet and being soo picky on service.... Back then only singapore airlines was the exception in terms of service but the rest was like what you see in this video!!! Love it! And the 747... Still THE queen ! Thanks simply aviation

Contrary to what reputation it had in the 60s and early 70s. My grandfather was a ground mechanic for this airline , when it was still owned by the tata group. But after the acquisition by the government, the quality diminished and the expulsion of the Tatas from the board of directors was the final blow. He described to me that before the acquisition everybody seemed enthusiastic about serving the airline , but later as the gov jobs became gauranteed , all the employees stopped caring bout the airline. The service engineers rarely followed the checklists, the crew got free flights for the entire family, planes rarely got cleaned , the ministers got to travel for free along with their family etc. He soon left the airline after the acquisition or to correctly put it was forced to resign as he got into an argument with a minister who wanted to charter an entire plane for his entire family for free 😂. Btw he still did ! Years of neglect and corruption brought it here. Thankgod the Tatas have again gotten into the airline business with Singapore airlines and that's the only airline I use in India .
This same plane is flying between jeddah and kochi as AI964..happened to travel in this one..its a 5.30hrs journey ...most of time over Arabian sea...i saw water leakage from ac vents inside cabin, seats were damaged (almost all of them), almost all the infotainment systems were either not working or damaged, no cleaning or vacuuming done for months, bad smell etc etc.. The plane type is air india Boeing 747-400 code named ajanta.this purticular plane has been acquired by air india 23 years ago..still in service...ridiculous...without any maintenance of the passenger section.. The cabin crew, the guys were very helpful but the grandmas were very rude,arrogant and impatient... I personally want to request air india to withdraw this plane from service...or we will be playing with the life of innocent..the government or air india don't care unless something happens...please withdraw this plane from service..its a request..

I have gone to Chatrapatti Shivaji airport and in real it is a smaller version of Paris CDG. Very crowded and horrible staff. I had a 2 hour delay for an Air India flight. The staff are absolutely useless. The Infrastructure is very old.
Airlines in India do not understand this but A380 is the perfect model for "domestic" use. A country with 140 Cr people and we still use narrow body planes for domestic travels which makes the cost of the seats much more. An A380 with 90% economy seats and 10% premium economy will be perfect for the Indian domestic aviation industry, airlines can transport a large amount of people at once as well as the seat prices will decrease

I would like them to try LIAT, though. LIAT is unavoidable if you want to reach some smaller islands and it has a horrendous reputation.

There is no IFE on any Air India Domestic (within India) routes. For all international routes IFE works. Looks like an Old plane used for a short flight instead of letting it rot in the hangar.

I don’t think airlines can pay the immense price on oil per passenger. The wear rate and fuel rate is expensive on the 747 than the 787s or the new 77X

I encountered that in Spice Jet during my flight from Sri Nagar to Delhi in February 2017. An old aircraft with very dusty seats.
