Kenny was as talented as Sammy, Buddy and Roy in his own way. He created sound techniques for radio that people struggle to recreate today with far more technology. Just watch Sammy and Buddy creasing up when he tries to tap dance. They get him. Utterly. There's just so much warmth and respect on that stage.
This was right off the top of their heads. Spontaneous, craftsmanship that is simply great to behold. Talent oozing out of every spore. All sadly missed and never ever forgotten. Thank you gents.
Roy Castle could sing, tap dance(held a world record for it) and play 45 musical instruments. He died of lung cancer, a warm, sincere man, greatly missed.
It doesn't get much better than that! Really enjoyable watching, Cheers for posting this Vid. Now I'm off to hunt the episode of Parky with Sting & Billy Connolly.
I saw this programme on the night it happened.Believe me,moments like this dont come around that often!Sad to consider that all these greats are now gone.Parky is still with us thankfully.
that's just amazing. you'd never see one of the singers nowdays prepared to just off the cuff sing like that. just one word for all that were on that show...LEGENDS
I think Roy would have been too nice a guy for the US!!!...He said at the end of his life that maybe he could have gone higher, but he was thankful to have achieved what he had and that as result he met and married his wife, had 4 wonderful kids and loved his family!!...I think what stood out with Roy was that he was a genuinely nice guy who really liked people!!!!!!!!
Superb TV. Back in the days of a handful of channels we had great shows and entertainers like this. Now we have hundreds of channels, huge TVs, and no shows!
Wicked. My dog just ate the version of this I have had on betamax video for 25 years, on the off chance that one day i might get it converted. too late now, so thanks for posting this.
You know, the surprise guest is kinda given away by the Video Thumbnail :) You can change that under 'Edit your video', Not that there's any point, we all know who it is now. PS. AWESOME video, I wish we still had personalities like these in the limelight. People this cool just don't exist anymore :(
Alas, none of those guests are still with us. Roy Castle and Kenney Everett died too soon. I remember when this first aired and Roy got Buddy to drum on money...I remember the joy and fun they had.
There are no words to describe this clip. Its THAT good. And Buddy Rich was a better drummer than Muhammed Ali was a boxer. And pele was at playing football. THATS how good he was. TY for sharing.
I have posted the ENTIRE SHOW this piece comes from on UA-cam - in HQ. I too thought this was a golden show (as you'll see from my "info" section). So please ALLOW this comment and the enclosed "video response" on your site. You have MANY golden moments from Parky - I just have the ONE - and it should be shared by EVERYONE! Thankyou!
Sammy Davis the one entertainer of his generation who equalled Buddy! Love these guys! Roy Castle was up there and Kenny Everrett was a huge talent. What have we got today? X-Fuctor?
I don't think Kenny is a fish out of water. He was genius in how he pushed TV comedy. He's zany - not stupid. Remember he started in radio, he loves music. And would quite happily sit back and watch the brilliance unfold. He's clever enough to know that comedy wasnt needed at that point. He just sat back and enjoyed
You got that right D. For all you young guys out there...If you want to know how to back up a singer...that's the record! Buddy, the greatest ACCOMPANIST OF ALL TIME!!!
Great Sponteneity. Not one plug. Get back to that BBC. This is what TV's made for. Well done Cheeseford, well done You Tube. And Kenny Everett in awe and silence.
could you imagine seeing that much talent on a talk show now? All they're famous for is appearing on reality shows, being married to footballers or ... can't think what else.
"Notorious" not Nostalgia -ARE YOU A KNIFE & FORK DRUMMER ?- LOOK OUT BUSTER YOUR TALKIN TO BUDDY....HE 'LL PAINT YOUR ARSE W/ HIS BRUSHES .GOD BLESSED THE MAN.& NE GAVE HIS ALL....
By any chance, is there more footage of Castle's tap-dancing from this partciular episode (like a solo spot beforehand)? I've known about his ability for years but unfortunately have seen very little footage of it. Thanks.
Where is the rest of this? Buddy played a set before and after this interview I am sure. Can someone post the rest please? I have been after this for years - I think he did West side medley to finish.
Please, anyone, compare THIS intense amount of unique talent all put together creating great things spontaneously and Britney Spears at MTV doing playbacks and "singing" elevator, generic and industrialized music - cries. My God, what happened to this world. I feel sorry for myself.

One of his steps is very similar to what Michael Jackson started doing a year after this show.
Great television. You don't see that kind of improvisation on TV anymore. Thanks for posting.
This was right off the top of their heads. Spontaneous, craftsmanship that is simply great to behold. Talent oozing out of every spore. All sadly missed and never ever forgotten. Thank you gents.
So lucky that this is online and not lost in the vaults of time.
Absolutely magical.Never will the like of these TRUE entertainers be seen again.
Oh man ... this was really great. Thanks so much for posting this.
The best thing I've seen on You Tube! Buddy and Sammy are the tops!!! Live at the Sands: Sounds of 66, for me, is the greatest live album of all time.
magic, magic....and as someone says, an amount of talent you couldn't find on a talk show today. Thank you.
Roy Castle could sing, tap dance(held a world record for it) and play 45 musical
instruments.He died of lung cancer, a warm,sincere man,greatly missed.
This is FANTASTIC!!!!!
Buddy was not only the world's greatest drummer, but he was a pretty good hoofer too! Then of course Sammy, he could do it ALL! Thanks for posting it!
Fantastic clip! Thank you for posting, Cheeseford.
They are all great thank you . Great tv miss you all x
Wow so much talent on that stage
Sad to think that all these guests are dead now. Great! Thanks for posting.
Buddy Rich.. My all time drumming hero!
What a line up! Incredible.
brilliant thanks for posting.
This is what music should be like
It doesn't get much better than that! Really enjoyable watching, Cheers for posting this Vid. Now I'm off to hunt the episode of Parky with Sting & Billy Connolly.
I saw this programme on the night it happened.Believe me,moments like this dont come around that often!Sad to consider that all these greats are now gone.Parky is still with us thankfully.
its moments like that that made showbiz so great. Hopefully It'll be the case again one day.
Absolutely brilliant! True talent!
that's just amazing. you'd never see one of the singers nowdays prepared to just off the cuff sing like that. just one word for all that were on that show...LEGENDS
OOOHHH MYY GOOOSSSHHHH!!!! I was not expecting that!!!! SAMMMMYYYY!!!
This is terrific! I'd have liked a bit of trumpet from Roy, but that's just greedy:) Thanks for posting.
Great Clip.....thanks for posting
Just brilliant !
Excellent posting. These were real Entertainer's
Christ this is like a meeting of the Hole in the Ground Gang...
Honestly, I wish TV was still this cool. What incredible people.. damn.
Classic impromptu genius on display...WOW! Unrehearsed, and still perfect!
Bobby Darin was very well known before that film. Obviously that film made him even more well known to people but he was a legend before it.
That was class. That is what real quality talent was. Past tense. Who do we have now? I agree with Nigel Lockley. Mixed emontions watching this.
Magic.....just pure magic.
Superb TV. Back in the days of a handful of channels we had great shows and entertainers like this. Now we have hundreds of channels, huge TVs, and no shows!
Music is the international language without words.
Roy Castle, very talented
What a stark contrast to todays Parkie: Jamie Bloody Oliver and some nobody off Eastenders! That was class. many thanks.
Brilliant stuff
Classic! wonderful thanks
Or perhaps Kenny saw the quality and let the show go on. Kenny was usually zany in interviews but here he shows respect to an improvised masterpiece.
Kenny Everett's little bit is pretty hilarious I
Just imagine seeing somebody that talented on the x factor! I somehow don't think it will ever happen!
Great Stuff. Hard to believe that Michael Parkinson is the only one of all of them who is still alive and well and the rest are gone.
wow look at all this different kinds of talents!
Sammy, wonderful voice
roy castle fantastic musician good sense of rhythm
Wicked. My dog just ate the version of this I have had on betamax video for 25 years, on the off chance that one day i might get it converted. too late now, so thanks for posting this.

Gosh. Just wonderful!

Ah that is great, thanks for posting.

you'd have to say Fair Play to Kenny for not trying to gain the limelight and letting the guys show what its like to be talented.
Sammy Davis the one entertainer of his generation who equalled Buddy! Love these guys! Roy Castle was up there and Kenny Everrett was a huge talent. What have we got today? X-Fuctor?
Sammy. An American classic.
I don't think Kenny is a fish out of water. He was genius in how he pushed TV comedy.
He's zany - not stupid.

Kenny's dance was best.
Aye, Roy Castle was so talented. I'd like to see some more video of him, if anyone has any.
This is a great clip
The vaudeville culture undoubtly brought about such talent in these entertainers. It's long gone now of course.
Great Sponteneity. Not one plug. Get back to that BBC. This is what TV's made for. Well done Cheeseford, well done You Tube.
And Kenny Everett in awe and silence.
They don't make television like this anymore. Too many greats have gone.
I remember watching this
Pure, pure entertainment
The fastest tap dancer in the world. Never been beaten. Roy Castle. Englishman
and a gent. I reported him to the council for the noise...
love buddy rich. funny rich and roy castle because he was one of the kindest men ever and rich was a notorious bastard.
this is incredible........
I love Sammy. So much.
tremendous! only Parky left of all of them :o(

Not one of them is plugging a film/record/book. This was great TV. Pity the still gives away the surprise.
Roy Castle was the most underated genius this country has ever had. If he had been born in the US he would have been every bit as big as Sammy Davis.
I have often thought that Roy Castle was the 'British' Sammy Davies jnr!
great tv thanks
Agreed. He'd steal the show if the focus was on him but this was Buddy Rich and SDJrs platform so he was generous and defferent
Very true!
Just MAGIC!!!
Superb.
Now these guys are entertainers.
By any chance, is there more footage of Castle's tap-dancing from this partciular episode (like a solo spot beforehand)? I've known about his ability for years but unfortunately have seen very little footage of it. Thanks.
brilliant
buddy is always the best...
Emotions that is..
hahahaha well that was a first. . Buddy rich is so damn talented
gdamn it. all these genii on this stage are now dead and missed.
There just ain't the talent now. What a line-up !!! WHOOOOOOOO !
Great!
Where is the rest of this? Buddy played a set before and after this interview I am sure. Can someone post the rest please? I have been after this for years - I think he did West side medley to finish.

like they would on his show. :)
I wasn't expecting Stevie Wonder to make an appearance like that, great video!
Can anyone tell me what the dance move Roy performed at 2.04 was called?
wat a clip
Holy fuck! THANKS for this!!
Hahaha @ 3:19 ... so funny. Buddy Rich was the man.
