Much appreciated.
Great vid. I agree 100% on the lube. I have been through the motions & spent $ on all the new lubes & nothing works better than standard old gun or lithium grease. I use that in the summer & I use a synthetic motor oil for winter. It's cheap & works at least as well as all these expensive "special"gun lubes. I think lots of people new to shooting spend $1,000+ on a new AR & then feel the need to buy some expensive "magic" lube. That's what I did when I was new to shooting & I spent tons of $ trying to find the best lube for my new, expensive rifle. That is totally unnecessary. Twenty dollars worth of lithium grease & a quart of synthetic motor oil & you are set for years.
Thanks for the video! All of your videos actually. I am BRAND NEW to the AR, but I am hoping my choice of AR was a good one. I saw a review you did on it after I bought it which brought me here in the first place. Just picked up the Colt LE6920 SOCOM. I was in love as soon as I saw it and it was between that and the Ruger SR-556. You're info is invaluable to someone like myself and my girlfriend so again, thanks! Now I know how to clean it up. Question though. I've heard it's best to clean the firearm before it's first use and to not just fire "out-of-the-box". What is your opinion.
I know. The way I see it, people who throw a fit over using grease haven't tried it themselves. By the way, you just got another subscriber. Keep up the good work!
They come lubed sometimes, I would check it and pretreat it with a good CLP makes cleaning later a lot easier, it keeps the carbon from really bonding to surfaces
for old and new weapon owners your video was great! To the point and did not waste time! Thank you because I am heading to the range with my kid and wanted a refresh.
No doubt. I'm sure it does a great job at that. But, anything that causes displacement (except ballistol) has a high likelyhood of causing issue long term. There are a ton of videos demonstrating this out there and a lot of gunsmiths that have made a lot of money fixing the issues that come along with it.

Never has for me; I lube all my AR carriers like that as well.
Twenty dollars worth of lithium grease & a quart of synthetic motor oil & you are set for years.
shananagans5 seems to work.
That's the only lube I've bought so far. SOTAR recipe. Haha
Scrape the carbon off the bolt with the flattened neck of a .223 case. No money for a tool required :)

Never thought of that you just saved me some money thanks
@@mattatkins6723 Cheaper than dirt doesn't deserve a cent of yours, EVER.
@@MrAKBBags why is that? Jw
Love your vids. It's good to see videos on the basics. Nice to see someone not neglect the importance of the subject.
Just bought my first AR15. I had no idea how to clean it and glad I found this video. Clear easy to follow steps. Thanks so much!
This video is a huge help. Thanks
You won't need to "pre-clean" a fresh Colt. It could perhaps need some lubrication though.
Thanks for the tip!
Brian Cavanaugh Agreed. Lube and go.
Thank you for putting this video up im also new to this very helpful much appreciated
Wesley Wolfe Glad it helped.
Thanks for the video. I'm absolutely a new owner and appreciate this video.
you're welcome
I moved from a AK platform to AR recently and your video is just what I've been looking for! Thanks.
Thanks man. Great job 👍🏻👍🏻
Alex Pelletier you're welcome
Can you do one with froglube? I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Love the channel keep it up!
+Ibzan Figueroa Maybe one day
+Mrgunsngear Channel I'll look forward to it 😄😀
Great vid, very informative
Thank you
I know. The way I see it, people who throw a fit over using grease haven't tried it themselves. By the way, you just got another subscriber. Keep up the good work!
Glad it helped ya'll out. Have fun and stay safe.
getting my complete upper this week... do i need to clean it before the range?
Tony F Need to--no. I would though.
Mrgunsngear Channel you recommend the CLP?
They come lubed sometimes, I would check it and pretreat it with a good CLP makes cleaning later a lot easier, it keeps the carbon from really bonding to surfaces
May I ask what front rail system you have installed over your barrel? Thanks.
19:18 Great now you have to clean it again. LOL
😁
Glad it helped you out. Have fun and stay safe!
Save those chopsticks from Chinese takeout/delivery.
Use it to maneuver the patch inside BCG and receiver, no risk of scratches.
This Guy Ok
I use a long sender wood dowel from the hobby shop to push patches through the barrel
What not just get a can of Jet Spray Gumout and blast all those individual parts clean?
Amen bro...too much talky talky...keep it simple.
*tool
for old and new weapon owners your video was great!
The easiest way to clean an AR? Leave it in the box. Enough said.
No kidding. lol.
+Jeffrey Bromfield Me too... q-tips and pipe cleaners. Our armorer would always find carbon.
+Dan V I can guaranty finding carbon even after multiple cleanings ...the solvents/oils keep working the stuff out as the rifle sits
Sonic cleaner ftw
Lol Cheers from dallas
I heard if I rub your head, I'll become a better shooter....So when can we meet up?
jesus the cat m4 is $40
Stance Punk academy sells a similar tool for 13 bucks. does the exact same thing as the cat m4
Just got my FN 15 SRP Tactical and was looking for resources on how to properly maintain it. This video explained the take down, cleaning, lubricating and assembly. Thanks!
Sir, I would welcome you as a weapons instructor. Clear, precise and easy to watch, follow look listen and learn. Nice clip Sir. Steve
Super Great Video. NO need to apologize to the pros. They would not be watching this. But there are more new AR 15 owners than ever before in this crazy country. We need to know what we are doing. You just provided a great video to us newbies. A clean gun is a working gun!
thanks!
I am new to the Ar15 gun world and I have cleaned and lubes my Palmetto State Armory freedom rifle you did a review on a normal hot Carolina day. This video was very helpful
Thanks for the video. I’m a new AR owner and cleaned mine tonight for the first time using your video. Appreciate the visuals and explanations.
Mr. Gunsngear I truly appreciate this educational and informative video on cleaning and lubricating the AR-15. I especially am grateful for your bolt carrier disassembly/assembly gems. Thank you once again!
Man you explain it a lot better than others on how to clean your AR. I have been doing a detailed clean after every time I shoot it and I always end up with too much oil. I wipe it down the best I can there are times I still get oil coming out the pins when I put it away.but you way is better I will try to start doing that.
Love your cleaning videos..! Ive learned so much from your handgun videos and now am moving on to ARs all thanks to you. Keep it up!
Im new on Ar and watching all your video gives me some knowledge about them!!! Dont stop making and thank you sir!
Thanks for the demo. I was taught for all guns: If it rotates, oil it, if it slides, grease it!
So glad you and Reid do these videos. I don't get as much call to clean rifles and that's a good thing. Firearms owners should know their weapons inside and out.
thanks
Agreed; that would be part of the 'white glove' cleaning for me. But, I'm not a bullseye shooter at Camp Perry either so different strokes for different folks I suppose.
Yup; you made a solid call with the 6920 for sure.
