    I watched you win the PGA Championship and I along with many was heavily mentally or emotionally invested. I did know every time you strayed off course you have a beautiful short game that will never let you down. The hundreds of thousands of practice bunker, pitch or chip shots you have hit, put you in a category of 3. No particular order, you, Seve, and Tiger are money in the bank

    It's all about keeping those hands moving through the shot that's what context zone where you want to elongate the contact zone in tennis the great Masters like Bichon bork but hit through four tennis balls through a coat hanger hit through the same as golf you have to get through four golf balls straight through like a coat hangers going through those golf balls but the visualize that elongated contact zone that is the essence of golf and tennis and that's the parallel between tennis and golf is the is it the contact zone is The Sweet spot of the game

    Phil literally makes me sick every time I watch his videos because it shows me I've been going in the right direction but gives me that little edge to make me better, and if I struggle with something he has a technique for it which is so simple.

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 2 роки тому

    I see him opening that face but it's a little bit of loft on the ball and so that ball has the lift or airborne from The edge that makes the blade that makes contact at front edge first on that ball which is just like a little flash it's similar to put in tops but on the ball coming off the split step and tennis and return of serve only a flash of your racket the closed edge makes contact with the ball first on the upper top of the ball and this puts that beautiful top spin it's kind of like a cat cutting cheese and when you seek off it's like cotton cheese with a saber knife it's so exact though it's not a blunt blade just hacking through a piece of cheese it is a ninja sword that has a perfect slash exactly where that edge supposed to meet the ball of contact and we're talking contact so is everything the contact zone and golf and tennis are critical it's more important than the take back or the fall through but are all must be one uninterrupted continuous flow

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 2 роки тому

    Yeah descending blow underneath that when you hit down it goes up and you have to have no you know just how how many inches behind that ball you're going to hit and nice little falls through with a good good hands good feel and you got that within three feet of the hole so it's a beautiful shot so there it is there's the Bruce Lee of of using a sandwich out of a out of a sand pit

  • @Washout001
    @Washout001 2 роки тому

    Me watching this video, nodding thinking - that's it! Easy peasy. Me on the course having skulled it from one greenside bunker over to the other. Wtf did he say again, I can't remember!

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 2 роки тому

    This is where the Tai chi man Master changes his weight distribution again you're talking posture and then weight distribution and of course setup so you have to distinguish those three things are going on also the visualization all the mental side of the game and the relaxation of your you know it's called soft hands so that they develop feel in the ball so you can feel what the distance is it's like a pressure on the grip and your hands they are relaxed not a vice grip but just relax so they can feel that golf ball come off that blade that is the Zen

  • @douglashagan65
    @douglashagan65 2 роки тому

    Now he's getting into rhythm and tempo she will smooth take back and then when it comes forward with after the turn real he starts to accelerate the club and he starts to gradually develop racket at speed club head speed here just like the top tennis players to take it back real slow smooth and they make that turn effortlessly and that ball just racket head just flows through that ball and then when it make contact it's like it's interrupted all one movement no hitches and it's just like a rhythmical flow like some type of Tai chi Master perfect balance is transferring I remember I was playing this guy it seem like it was totally so relaxed I couldn't believe I was playing this guy number two seed not tournament the guys seem like he was floating everything was so effortless not even a beat a sweat coming off this guy

    This whole thing is like a zen master it's all the mental side and then there's the physical side and you have to know the conscious mind and then the unconscious mind and so I've been staying the zenikoff the inner game of golf and this is so much what Earl woods do back in 34 because his dad who is a colonel in Vietnam he knew how to be mentally tough so it's so much of it is mental in golf and then there's just a small portion that's actually the technical side but what the the joining of the two together though what Earl did was visualization his first sop shot was total visualization of what of course management was the wind was there water was a traps is a slope does it break left or right right to left is there anything in the way trees is there a swamp do I have to hook this and all these variables you have to have in your mind what's the weather like is the grass wet what kind of grass is it bluegrass you got everything that's going on you have to visualize in that pre-op that first swing that first visualization of what you're going to do in the second swing is actually making contact with the ball and that's letting the unconscious mind subconscious mind hits the ball the subconscious mind hits the ball and the conscious mind visualizes everything it's going to do automatically what it is you have to allow the subconscious to make the shot for what you're unconscious mind has just program recorded so if you've read the Zen of golf which I have or is that of tennis or instead of motorcycle riding you understand yourself oneself to concept and you have to read a thousand books which I have and you have to understand all this stuff because if you don't you can't reach the level of these champions you have to know the secrets behind what they're doing because it's just what you see is just the technique and everybody has a different style style no style means nothing then there's technique and everybody's techniques different and then there's the mental side of call

    I still don't understand the "trick" shot.

    • @albertwu6583
      @albertwu6583 2 роки тому

      What he means by “ trick shot” is, by means of placing two balls next to each other without your friends knowing, the impossibility of hitting so high a shot with a lot of backspin like he has shown. The first ball in front, due to angle of collision, makes the second ball go high in the air as well as increasing its backspin at the same time!
